that looks like william chung. he trained the us navy in unarmed combat in japan. notice where the positioning of his feet they are the boxers blind side he can leg trip at any moment. he is also watching for the right hand to come and is ready to counter. if the boxer was a kick boxer he would find it difficult to kick the opponantfrom that position. he could always move thoughi suggest run. william chung is no joke he might be old but hes not a joke even if he isnt ufc champion.
This video was only instructional to highlight similarities and differences between "Peek A Boo" Boxing and centerline/blindside techniques of Wing Chun.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.......hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaha HA! i though wing chung was good but im leaning on it being really crap now, you cant expect anyone to just stand there and take it and there is absolutely no power behind strikes like that, even if they are to "vital" points
In all fairness, the boxer could have threw maybe one or two more punches. However, the Wing Chun practioner could have gone twice or three times the speed that he did in this clip.
let me guess your attacking vital points on the body ? people can take punishment especially when adrenaline is rushing through them. wing chun can be used against some idiot on the street sure but it definetly would not work against other fighters and that has been proven. even bruce lee talked trash on the style in numerous tv interviews. claming thats its strikes are not very effective
Bruce Lee's opinion is one person. An estimate of 75% of JKD is Wing Chun. If we're talking other fighters like UFC..(I presume)...that's not real Martial arts anyways. These fighting styles were not developed for this sort of commercial gain. 'No headbutts, no groin strikes, no punching to the back of the head'. What's that? Ma is about being disciplined, respect for others, help the weak, being devoted.
ufc? no im talking about the boxer in the video. he held his punch and didnt counter with anything. what good are groin strikes if your opponent is not allowed to move. and for you information the ufc allowed groin stikes, head butting and punching to the back of the head jackass. it wasnt untill later that they made it illegal
What's with the 'Jackass'. I guess your 'one of the tough guys behind the keyboard'.
Anyways, If you want to talk MA, I will do that. Don't bother trying to engage a practioner in silly 'cyberspace' name calling.
Exactly...'they made it illegal in the UFC to do this kind of stuff. It was much more interesting in UFC 1-10...seeing all the different styles where anything goes. Now it's just boring.
the ufc is boring? its the highest grossing sport in the world. and guess who dominated the first ten ufc? royce gracie and the grapplers. exactly my point
That's your opinion. That's fine. So you're cross trained as well....have learned all the finer points of both arts and have applied them in thousands of situations, years and years of training comparing arts and your opinion is BJJ is better. Very well. What's your thoughts on DIm Mak?
i wont get jumped. why dedicate your life to a martial arts that is only good for getting jumped? and i dont even think then it would be as useful as boxing
There are many martial arts that help develop skill in dealing with more than one person. If you can deal with more then one successfully, you should have no problem with one person. I do agree with Bruce Lee, you shouldn't stick to one technique or style, or you're bound by its limitations. At the same time I believe the more you know the better. But saying martial arts (A) is better than martial arts (B) is silly to me.
there will always be style vs style matches and its simple physics that will tell you jiu jitsu is going to beat all other styles. im not saying jiu jitsu will always be the answer to every street situation im saying aside from a few exceptions jiu jitsu will beat other styles every time
WC is self defense. Adrenaline doesn't help getting punched in the throat. Bruce Lee has said the straight punch is not always affective. And he's right, WC teaches an ascending straight punch, but sometimes you have to go around. BTW please give the source where you claim he talks trash.
bullshido com and fightingmaster com have articles. the reason i dont like this video is becuase the opponents are always paralyzed thats not an accurate representation of either styles and unless you have something to hide, get your ass in the ring and prove yourself
I do agree with the gist of what you're saying, and this video is absolutely terrible. Some people think learning basic technique gives them some ancient Kung Fu secret power. Then they get hit in the face. Anyway Wing Chun is self defense, and the effectiveness depends highly on the fighter. At the school I attend I have never seen anything like this. It's as if this guy just wants to show how badass he thinks he is.
The boxer would knock the WC guy out

dim mak is a slippery slope. pretty soon you believe in "no touch knock outs" and other nonsense.

bjj is great when you fight only one person. If you get jumped are you going to grapple one person?
