I go out to the cavallis from time to time myself,trying to push my free diving abit more everytime,this looks like a realy sweet spot.which side is this pinnacle,if its not too much of a secret that is?Cheers man thanks

Awesome footage mate. I've been going to Matauri Bay for over 15years now. still my favourite spot in New Zealand. Have got a few nice fish from there.
Cheers! It's a surgeonfish (Yellowspotted sawtail - Prionurus maculatus). They are very rare in NZ but this particular one has been there for years apparently.
My breathhold is very average and others can probably give you better advice but relaxing, slowing your heartbeat, forgetting the little worries of life and putting yourself in a "falling asleep" mindset is a good place to start.

you never ever ever bleed a fish in the water. you head spike it sure but bleeding it just draws the sharks
