i have the 3G, not the 3Gs my friend has the 3Gs the only difference is that it starts up faster.. the apps are the same and everything else.

but the iphone ultra just came out but its too thin for my liking.

Of course you have to pay to access the internet using your local cellular network internet service but if you have wireless connection just enable the wifi on your iPhone then that's free
