There's a difference between supporting offshore drilling where it's safe and this situation. Greenies don't want us to drill in shallower waters thereby forcing rigs to be drilled in the deep sea where it's too deep for divers to fix leaks like this.

@uffdamega52 The Ixtoc well was 160 ft below sealevel and it spewed for 290 days, not a couple of months. Google it Ixtoc1 and read the news articles. It reads almost exactly like today's news stories. Rachel Maddow is leading the way with the big question. Why has drilling technology advanced so far in the last few decades, yet the blowout prevention and clean up processes not advanced at all?
