I didn't want to modify the track as it originally appeared on the album, because there are some others like me who prefer the older, dated sound of tracks like this :/
@sugarandspice4815 That's Gary with Anne Marie, AKA Ghost Dance...nearly all these pictures are not of the 'proper' Sisters who actually recorded the track, even the pictures of Eldritch are of from the wrong era. I agree that this has better sound than the others, but some of these pics are a different band, for fuck's sake,
I know that most of these pictures don't match the sound at all, but when I'm going to school and take the time out of my day to spam Youtube with a bunch of different songs, it's a wonder I even include any pictures to begin with. I used the same template for all of the uploads I did at the time, hence the fact that many pictures don't match. My "apologies" for including pictures that didn't match the era of the song, but you're here for the song and not the slideshow :p
Yeah, when I upload a lot of songs, I usually just grab a bunch of different pictures and stick them together, and I did this one 3 years ago on top of that :o
Absolute genius. Written by Marx, but delivered in the way only Eldritch ever could do! His ego may have been universe-spanning, but he had the lyrical mastery to back up such monstrous hubris! Unlike the crud that lamentably accounts for a depressing (heh heh) amount of goth/rock/metal/alternative these days.
I'm 47 and it's been a long time since I necked any sulphate and sat up listening to stuff like this - the old SoM tracks still make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
Did they ever produce a bad song. The sound, the look, the scene. SOM where the darker side of the 1980. The kids today have Will I Am, Jay Z and the X Factor and Knife crime. So Sad.
@DarkLord61636 Most of the crap played in the 80's (ever since The Sisters existed) was no better or worse than "today's" crap, so it's not really "today's" crap it's always been like this, the average human enjoys mindless schlock. Crap crap crap. :)
@tutts999 Wow, kids today do not have anything else than your described hell of doomercialism...?
C'mon! music has more possibilities than ever.
In my time, you had to wait for the bus and then go to the city and ask every week: 'when's that new album?'
Now you can share your latest opinions on, say, Fever Ray songs. And you know when a new live show take place. So much better than in my teenage era, when I missed another show by my fav band because I didn't know they played...
Yeah, I thought of that when I made the video, but the way I made all of these was just by using the same "video" portion for each song and resizing it based on the song =/
@ashtree50 You sure Gary wrote this? I read in an interview about this album that all the songs off of "First Last and Always" were written by Andrew.

@SocialD871 Yea, the songs on the original release of 'First and Last and Always' were all either completely, at least co-written, by Andrew, but Poison Door was originally the B-side of 'Walk Away' and was certainly, as I remember, solely credited to Gary.
@ashtree50 Oh alright, thanks for clearing that up for me. They've been one of my favorite bands since I was 13, it's funny how I didn't come across this song untill just recently. haha It's an incredible song so I'm glad I did.
the vocals on Andrew now are quiet... I don't understand why he can't use his computers & amplify his voice... maybe he's ashamed of what he sounds like now? dunno, just a guess... but his voice is just about the same with more rasp (like peter murphy) but a bit less stamina for high notes & such... anyone get what I mean?
One of my favourite sisters songs. sends shivers down my spine even after all these years. A B side too. I was 12 when this came out. Not the greatest song ever written and not the greatest band ever but a special place in my life all the same. Thank you eldritch et al.
@Joshua1978m I know exactly what you mean. The guitar effect is almost identical to "Heartland". In fact, the FX on every instrument are on the same settings.
Behind the poison doors, where our secret loves lye and where the fear of betrayal lurks like a infernal shadowed veil, yet we have got the only chance to get over and along and save them for life
A great Sisters track penned by Gary Marx i believe, but why have pics of Ghost Dance (Anne Marie and marx) and later Sisters photos in your video. The sisters have been woeful since Marx,Adams n Hussey left :( 82-85 were when they were at the majestic best.
Wow! I had never heard this song before -- it is awesome! So great to hear a new track from SOM, since their studio albums are so few. Thank you so much for posting!
Quite an intriguing item, I can't imagine why the spare resonant openness and depth of this style had to be supplanted by the relatively current spate of repetitious, shallow 'thrash' of the 'new' live stuff recently posted. I'd bet that much of the newer stuff would buff up a bit in the studio if there's any creativity and artistry left at all. Is anyone ever gonna post "You may be the one"
Well you fo shizzel rock, dawg. Thanks for posting the rare-n-tasty stuff I've not found elsewhere. Just in case you have a hookup, should andy ever need some help I have an experimental withdrawl and maintainance protocol I'm working on and yes, I'm qualified and wanna help a brutha out.

That would be a kindness but unnecessary. I listen to youtube stuff whilst at work. One of these days this old sod'll figure out how to to the email thing properly and we may then chat again. Meanwhile Ill keep wearing out the SoM CDs in the car and looking for more. Thanks much for posting what you have to date.

Elements of this song actually remind me of "Heartland". Who knows what I mean?
Joshua1978m 2 years ago 2
They reminds me of the song in the sense that they are both sung in very similar tones,
is that what you mean?
Like, the Chorus of Heartland feels has the same mood as most of this song, imo
DarkLord61636 2 years ago
The b-sides for F&L&A were very similar to the earlier singles. The guitars are very "wet" heavy with FX & reverb... nearly identical vibe.
So yes, it's similar.

;)
Word around is that they may be getting back together soon for a tour and new album,
but to be serious, as awesome as Andrew is, if you've seen him lately,
his isn't exactly the best singing material out there anymore.
