i love your comment regarding shrinkage. my hair shrinks more than half the actual stretched out length because it is so curly, but I LOVE IT, which is the beauty of being all natural :-)
@jojozzy hi! thank you for watching. i do not have a tutorial yet on this style. I'm waiting until i put my next cycle of twists in towards the end of October. You can check out my earlier video "Micro Twists on Natural Hair" for some tips on how to maintain twists. I have some other vids on my page also that may be helpful.
Cool! I'll be looking forward to that vid. I plan to wash with dr. bronner's castille soap, moisturize with cantu shea butter leave in, and seal with oil. I'll use oil on my scalp only sparingly and spritz with water daily after working out. Btw, do you mind if i pm you some photos of my results after i finish putting the micro twists in next week?
@ksnewsome09 no i dont mind at all! i look forward to seeing the pics. also when you first install the twists i recommend washing the second week and not the first to give them time to set in. it was hard for me to do, but i did it ;) sounds like you have a great washing/cond/moisturizing system for your hair. that part is so personal. it all depends on what works best on your hair. it's different for everyone!
Beautiful. I love how volumous and defined it looks. How are you able to get your scalp really clean without causing tangling/matting and puffiness at the roots? this is my only real issue when washing twists.
@ksnewsome09 when i shampoo i target the scalp & wash at least twice. Puffiness depends on your hair growth & how often you decide to wash. If you wash twice a week it wont be an issue for a while, but eventually you will have to re-tighten. For me around the third week I had to re-tighten the edges as you would a lock (twisting in the direction of the twist). Now at week 5/6 I'm going through at the crown & completely redoing the ones that need it most. My crown grows the fastest ;)
@kcpatter83 Thanks for your quick and detailed responses : ) I was planning to dry washing the twists to avoid tangling, but now I'm gonna try your wash and retightening technique since I'm the type who doesn"t like to go longer than a week without washing my hair. I plan to keep them in for a full 8 weeks, which will be a challenge for me since i ususally can"t make it longer than 3 lol. I'll prob retighten at 3-4 weeks as needed and retwist completely at around 5-6 weeks.
@ksnewsome09 Also... I will be adding a video in the coming week or so about re-tightening. But I also add minimum product to my scalp to keep it from getting dirty. If you wash twice a week a glycerin spray would work well on the scalp.
Absolutely beautiful! I want your hairstyle right now!
