@sabinal01 the debate wasn't about naming, the debate was which god was going to claim the city as their own. Poseidon gave the Acropolis a stream, but it was salt water and not good for much. Athene gave an olive tree which produced wood, fruit and oil. As the better gift, Athens was given to her and named in her honor.
