Actually it was Kilroy, a bomb inspector from Detroit who would sprawl "Kilroy was Here" on bombs he inspected. The bombs were found in war torn Europe so they began writing the same phrase on remains of buildings when they were taken back from the Germans in 1942. Then in the early 60's Cornbread tagged a girls bus root in Philly to impress her and then joined by Kool Earl they began to sprawl all over town. The writer you are referring to is Taki183 but he wasnt around until 1967.
