Even if science could not describe how the universe was created, there is no justification in saying 'god did it'. But Science has demonstrated that we don't need a creator for the universe to exist; the universe we live in does not require one. Something from nothing is mathematically possible and, as Krauss argues, is the default position because of quantum physics: A Universe From Nothing' by Lawrence Krauss (also Youtube video)
@Calulord I choose to believe in a theory where there is a God that created us and all matter. You choose to believe in a theory where matter and articles arose from nothing one day. Which sounds crazier now?
"I choose to believe in a theory where there is a God that created us and all matter. You choose to believe in a theory where matter and articles arose from nothing one day. Which sounds crazier now?"
Let's look at it a different way. I choose to believe in a theory that is incomplete, but is based on actual scientific evidence. You choose to believe in a theory that has no evidence and no explanatory power, but it makes you feel good. Which sounds crazier now?
@Calulord In the big bang was the explosion that started this expansion. Do you have any possible scientific explanation as to where the particles or matter in this came from? How did something come from nothing?
If the Bible had spaceships it would be a fairly good science fiction novel. Can someone good, like Clifford D Simak or Isaac Asimov add some cool spacecraft and a couple of aliens.
If the Bible had spaceships it would be a fairly good science fiction novel. Can someone good, like Clifford D Simak or Isaac Asimov add some cool spacecraft and a couple of aliens.
This lady is retarded, The Old Testament is all metaphorical. Also, half of you people are idiots. I don't hate on athiests for their beliefs- I let them believe what they want because it doesn't concern me, so I expect the same respect from athiests towards Christians and people of other faiths. Instead, I read these comments and all of you are making fun of thiests and saying things like (quote from a comment below), "I respect you guys so much for fighting against the stupidity of religion!"
@NAGCDuskdusks To believe there is no God is definitely a belief, idiot. Also, "Athiests don't have believe..." makes no sense. How can you even try to argue with someone when you can't even write coherent sentences.
@lokixGarzy What do you think I just said? I clearly wrote that to have no belief in a God is belief that there is no God. Therefore, it is a belief. Also, the only reason I even replied to that guy is because he's trying to be a troll because he knows I'm right in my other comment, and he can't think of a good response.
@TZTSsnakebelt Well, you're wrong. What if someone had never heard of the god concept? They would have no belief in god since they had never heard of him. Would they believe that there is no god? Of course not, they don't even know of the idea.
"You can hardly speak English you idiot" i thought i was writing no speaking ... Mr English teacher . "I can GUARANTEE that I'm am much smarter than you are." somebody is mad here please call the nurse. sir/ ma'am this is not a " smart contest"it's about expressing ideas ,you still haven't refuted any of my arguments or justify why you hold ridiculous beliefs, btw saying that you're smarter than me does not make it a fact nor does it refute my argument.try again!
@MrTheblackmessenger You are speaking to me through writing on the internet. You have not presented any relevant facts. All you have done is called my religion silly. Also, you are constantly commenting about how I make fun of you personally for your lack of ability to write english. You have been doing the same thing, and a perfect example is above. I have refuted your arguments, and the reason I hold my beliefs is because that is what I believe. You can believe what you want, and I, what I want.
@TZTSsnakebelt ".All you have done is called my religion silly" nope i presented to the reason i think your religion has committed any imaginable atrocities in the past and is still doing so up to these present days .... you didn't refute it. i also stated why i think your belief are silly and you response was :"the reason I hold my beliefs is because that is what I believe." very convincing ...Mr English teacher i wonder where you learned your reasoning skills.
@MrTheblackmessenger You have done nothing but make fun of my religion and its followers. I have not made fun of athiests. I don't understand why you are so hypocritical that you would judge others' religions for no reason. Also, everyone has commited atrocities. From reading this, I am guessing you are pro-abortion? From my experience, people like you are, I may be wrong however. My point was I hold my beliefs because what I believe is my choice, and I chose to believe in God.
@TZTSsnakebelt "From reading this, I am guessing you are pro-abortion?" you are a judgmental person but that's OK i understand where you come from. as i told you before I'm not atheist but that doesn't mean that I'm religious . talking about abortion from my first impression you don't understand too much about human biology so it will be pointless to go that way. but just for your information I'm anti abortion ,unless it is for clinical purpose .
@TZTSsnakebelt also i would like to know how you came to the conclusion of being smarter than me through a youtube comment, maybe i was trolling all the way who knows . so why do you judge people you don't know? i never attacked you personally i refuted your argument in a manner that every body with a half hemispheric brain could understand. i suspect there is another reason that drove you to that conclusion , and i think that wasn't very bright from you.
@MrTheblackmessenger I came to this conclusion because you even joined this argument on the side you are on. Any semi-smart person would understand that choice of religion is needed and should not be judged for no reason aloud. You were trolling me all the way? really? I'm not even going to answer that question because it is so retarded. I don't judge people that I don't know. I observed how you are from this, and realize that you are severely wrong. Also, you did not refute my argument.
@TZTSsnakebelt so anyone who does not speak English to you is a complete ignorant, so what does the fact that you don't speak French or Chinese makes you... let me guess; not Einstein. The last time i checked Atheist didn't knock at people doors claiming that they had the solution for their suffering. Atheist didn't try to falsify scientific facts to suit their beliefs, Atheist didn't bomb abortion clinics or bomb themselves up for their God. guess who did that?
@MrTheblackmessenger No, but trying to argue about something like this in English when you obviously can't speak it is foolish. I don't care to speak French because it is not a very useful language, Chinese would be nice, but I have better things to do than learn a third language. Christians don't do any of those things either. The church might, but I and most other Christians do not. You are also judging Muslims now. Muslims do not blow themselves up; Radical Muslims do.
@TZTSsnakebelt "Any semi-smart person would understand that choice of religion is needed" are you calling 92% of the top scientists all over the world who don't hold any religious belief semi-smart" , wow that so intelligent from you Mr English teacher. you don't judge people you don't know but as if you've seen my IQ test result or my academic qualification you publicly stated that everybody here was smarter than me, I'm still wondering why. "
@MrTheblackmessenger No, I am saying that any semi-smart person would understand that the ability to freely choose your religion is needed. Also, I stated everyone was smarter than you because they are. Half of your sentences have large errors that would not be there if you knew english, and getting into an argument like this when you don't know english is very foolish.
@TZTSsnakebelt sir / ma'am as i told you before don't judge people you don't know , I'm a naturalized french neurologist i speak English french Chinese ,Portuguese and sometimes Spanish . i suspect that my nick name and my birth place is the reason you thought i was a complete moron but you were wrong; usually i don't have the time to talk to people like you since i have better to do with my life. so i guess everybody on this forum is a professor according to you?
@MrTheblackmessenger You're a neurologist? I find that somewhat hard to believe based on how quickly you respond to my comments. Also, I judged you based on known, and I will stick to my judgement. You are a fool because you are so narrow-minded. It doesn't matter if you're a "neurologist"(I highly doubt that), because you look at the world as a constant instead of a variable. Which means, you don't recognize the fact that you could be wrong and others could be right. (cont. on next)
@MrTheblackmessenger (Part 2: part 1 below.) I accept others religion because they think they're right, and they could be. So, I respect them and let them believe what they want, expecting the same respect of choice from them.
@TZTSsnakebelt but i wouldn't even bother responding to your personal attacks since i know how the mind of people like you works. but let me ask you this , you really believe that you can know how intelligent somebody is based on a youtube comment?or maybe you are just an bigoted person who can not defend his position and use logical fallacies to hide his weakness?further , i would like to compare ur contribution to ur field with mine and see who is better,r u on?u started it.
@MrTheblackmessenger I can defend my position perfectly well. I haven't even stated anything that proves there is a higher being, even though I could have, because I don't want to disrespect the athiests here that are not as narrow-minded as you are and accept others. Defending my point of view without using my most valid point of argument because it could offend others is being respectful, which, apparently, you don't know how to do,judging by your insults to me and hypocritical scolding of me.
@MrTheblackmessenger My contributions to my field are much greater than yours. You waste your time on Youtube when you should be working. I waste my time on Youtube when I'm not in highschool. And, I am still doing fine in this argument. If you contributed to anything good, you wouldn't be on here expressing your narrow-minded views. You would agree with my original stement.
@TZTSsnakebelt "My contributions to my field are much greater than yours." why don't we send each other links to see what we have published in our respective fields? what's your field by the way? . and yes I'm working , but i just find it funny to slap some rationality to narrow minded people like you . it's kind of funny to talk to somebody with an IQ as low as yours. remember you started this, i didn't want to be mean to you .
@MrTheblackmessenger My field is currently school. I haven't even graduated yet, but I bet I have a much better understanding of the world than you do. You are narrow-minded. I checked your Youtube page, and it seems that you spend a good deal of time just trolling people like this. So, I bet you are a very productive scientist. The fact that you actually thought I was in some field of work/science shows how much better I am doing than you are. Also, my IQ is very high.I didn't start this, though.
@MrTheblackmessenger Also, you say that you speak fluent english, yet you just wrote, "...and i think that wasn't very bright from you." It wasn't very bright from me? Yeah that's nice English...(sarcasm)
@MrTheblackmessenger I have now learned to laugh at people like you. I realize that you will never understand the magnitude of you folly. You are too narrow-minded to understand that the world is varied in beliefs and no one can be judged as definitely right or wrong. Also, since you have been nothing but a complete anus, I will play my trump card. You act like there is scientific fact that there is no God. With the big bang theory, there is a flaw.Where did the matter in the big bang come from?
@TZTSsnakebelt give me a reason why i should keep a conversation with high school student who have no undestanding about basic human biology or physics? this is a completely pointless and unecessary waste of time for me. i have more important things to do with my life , graduate first and maybe when you have at least a master degree in a scientific field we could then talk . until then stop wasting my time and go read a scientific book or stay ignorant ; the choice is yours
@MrTheblackmessenger I have a fine understanding of biology and physics. The fact that I am able to keep an argument going with a neurologist should be proof enough to you that I am perfectly qualified to be here. I am not ignorant. I don't pin myself to one view of religions and beliefs like you do. You are also saying that anyone without a masters degree is a fool. That is arrogant and foolish.
@TZTSsnakebelt I find reasoning like this adorable. The Big Bang wasn't the creation of matter - it was the earliest configuration of matter and energy that we're able to probe. As we don't have a quantum theory of gravity yet we don't have the mathematical tools necessary to tell us more. However, there isn't any reason to believe that matter and energy have ever not existed. To postulate that a god did it because you personally have gaps in your logic is not only fallacious, but disingenuous.
@AletheianAeon The big bang was when all matter, which was compressed into a very small area, exploded out from its previously occupied space. Now, tell me where did the matter for this explosion came from? Tell me where the original matter in existence came from. There will never be any explanation to this. You have to have faith in some unprovable idea. It might as well be a God, but if you don't believe that there is a God, then I won't judge you for that, but I expect you not to judge me.
@AletheianAeon Also, is the thought that there is a Being that has always existed any more crazy than the thought that matter has always existed? The answer is no. So, leave me to believe what I want to, and I'll let you believe what you want, as all religions or beliefs are equally lacking proper proof of concept.
@TZTSsnakebelt "Also, is the thought that there is a Being that has always existed any more crazy than the thought that matter has always existed"
Why posit that a being exists when there's no evidence to suggest this is the case? Why not admit that we just don't know yet how this matter initially came into existence?
"all religions or beliefs are equally lacking proper proof of concept"
@TZTSsnakebelt Your trump card has a flaw, you obviously know nothing about the big bang :/ I'd suggest listening to your own advice and learn about the stuff you are about to say before you say it.
@Calulord It has no flaw. There is no logical scientific explanation as to where the matter in the big bang came from, and there will never be. My reason for writing this is to prove that you can not judge others whom believe in a God because you find it impossible or unscientific, when the existence of life itself, and even the existence of any matter, is unscientific. Accept that others have different beliefs and go on with life. Don't judge them because your belief is equally lacking proof.
@paleflarelight Do you honestly think there is any scientifically provable explanation for where the first particles of matter came from? If there was nothing in existence, where did it come from?
@TZTSsnakebelt You're using the 'first cause' argument to show that god exists. There are few problems with that. Firstly, where did god come from? If something can't come from nothing, then how did god come to be? Secondly, it tells us nothing about why we're here, what we ought to do, or what god's nature or characteristics are. It has no explanatory power.
@paleflarelight You are completely proving my argument right now. My whole argument currently is that God's existence and your belief in only science are equally ungrounded. You cannot answer any of those questions with science either. That is my point. You shouldn't judge others's religions when your beliefs are just as crazy. Live and let live. Science also tells us nothing about why we are here and what we should do, so that part of your argument is silly.
@TZTSsnakebelt As I stated already, science does require faith that there exists an objective external reality that is subject to certain physical laws. That's it. The big bang is a theory about the origin of the universe that is based on observed physical laws and phenomena. Your belief in god is not based on those laws. You need MORE faith to believe in god. Thus you're wrong, belief in science and religion is not the same.
@TZTSsnakebelt "My reason for writing this is to prove that you can not judge others whom believe in a God because you find it impossible or unscientific, when the existence of life itself ..... is unscientific"
I can certainly judge others if their beliefs are illogical, irrational or downright silly. And to say that the existence of life itself is unscientific is a meaningless statement. Science hasn't answered everything, but that doesn't mean it can't or never will.
@paleflarelight Science can't answer everything. The presence of life contradicts science. The thought that something cannot arise from nothing is completely false. The first matter came from somewhere.
@TZTSsnakebelt Ok, so the first matter came from somewhere. Let's say god did it. Now what? The next logical step would be to investigate who/what god is, what he/its characteristics are. How do we do that?
@paleflarelight You believe and have faith. Those are the principles of religions. The same goes for science. Science can't explain everything, so you simply have to hypothesize about these things. You are basing your beliefs off of guesses and conjectures. Everyone does it, so don't judge others. I'm not telling you to believe in God, I'm simply saying that both of our beliefs, as well as all others, are ungrounded and should not be judged by others who expect respect in return.
@TZTSsnakebelt You're right, you do need faith to believe in science. You need to make atleast two assumptions completely on faith: 1) There exists an external objective reality, and 2) There exists some sort of uniformity through time. Beyond those very basic assumptions, which are necessary just to function in the world, science attempts to minimize faith as much as possible. Religion encourages it. A hypothesis is not the same thing as blind faith.
@TZTSsnakebelt Yeah you're right, a far more logical explanation would be there was an ever present sky wizard with a concept of morality that exists outside of all of our laws of physics and just made everything out of shits and giggles rather than a complete theory with a few things we have yet to discover. Your choosing a theory with no evidence over a theory was a few bits we haven't found out yet.
@Calulord God isn't a sky wizard. It makes as much sense that there is a God that created all things as that there was spontaneous creation of matter in nothingness. Science is not a complete theory.
@TZTSsnakebelt God can't even call itself a theory. Like I said, you're choosing a theory with no evidence over a much richer theory with a few missing pieces then claim its scientific.
@TZTSsnakebelt Also if you had ever taken the time to look it up you would have found that after its initial expansion from a singularity, the Universe cooled sufficiently to allow energy to be converted into various subatomic particles. It would take thousands of years for some of these particles (protons, neutrons, and electrons) to combine and form atoms, the building blocks of matter. Found that after 2 seconds of googling.
@TZTSsnakebelt does your disbelief in Zeus makes you a " non Zeus believer"? please go read a dictionary and come back , you are making fool of yourself
@MrTheblackmessenger You can hardly speak English you idiot. YOU go read a dictionary, and then come back. Nevermind. Forsake the English language. I don't want someone as stupid as you trying to talk the same way I do. "You are making fool of yourself". This is a great way to end your argument about me being stupid. I can GUARANTEE that I am much smarter than you are. Others here may be smarter than I am, but you should not be arguing here. Leave. Don't kill yourself b/c this sounds mean...
@TZTSsnakebelt No belief in god =/= belief there is no god. I believe it's entirely possible that there is a god, but I'm not going to take his, her or its existence on faith.
@boochainletters12 This comment refutes itself. This is like saying air doesn't exist because you can't see it. Faith is the center of religion. If you have no faith, how can you believe there could be a God.
@TZTSsnakebelt When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)
Yup just a ''metaphor''. That just your excuse for the atrocities of the all testament. Moist theist begin to realize that most of the bible is not really practicable and they rationalize it away.
@moh490234890238490 You truly don't understand. The Old Testament was written a long time ago BY HUMANS. The Old Testament is probably not the exact words of God, and, to put it into an applicable cliché, the meanings are sometimes lost in translation. You are accusing me of using this as an excuse, but this is a fact. The bible was written in Hebrew, so a lot of it naturally will seem strange in English. You, however, are using the fact that the Old Testament is written this way as your excuse.
@TZTSsnakebelt Psst, the entire bible was written by humans. None of it is the exact word of god, even if you believe he exists. You're also saying that the bible has been mistranslated and you can't take very clear and obvious instructions to be what they are because...? I'm guessing you figure they can't be like that because your god is perfect so he wouldn't do that. What's your excuse for the bible being written as it is?
@boochainletters12 The bible was written by humans, but inspired by God. It has not been mistranslated, but things can lose some of there meaning when translated to different languages. I've noticed there are two halves of athiests: the cool ones who are nice and don't care what you believe, and the anus ones like you guys commenting.. I am not using this as an excuse. It is a fact. The Old Testament is written metaphorically and parts are based on the way people thought when it was written.
@TZTSsnakebelt so it's all metaphor? so why should i bother follow you ten special list anyway? so when they say that Jesus was washing is disciples feet they really meant that he was sucking their dicks? i always knew that there was something wrong with a guy hanging around with twelve men ... all metaphor right.
@MrTheblackmessenger You make no sense. Go learn English before you try to argue with people about deep topics. Obviously you don't know what metaphorical means. It relates something to something else that is similar. How would washing feet and giving bjs be considered similar. You are THE REASON some people don't like athiests. You act like you're better than everyone and know everything because you don't believe in God. Your post has no argumentative facts in it. You are retarded.
"A metaphor is a literary figure of speech that uses an image, story or tangible thing to represent a less tangible thing or some intangible quality or idea" that''s according to wikipedia.i just gave you one about Jesus washing his disciples feet,so who are you to tell me that i got it wrong?you have your interpretation , i have mine fair? btw i can only laugh at your Ad Hominem because it only shows the limitation of your ability to express a reasonable argument.
@MrTheblackmessenger Anyone who speaks english would agree with me that your previous comment makes no sense. The reason that I say you make no sense is because that is the truth. Also, you did get it wrong. The purpose of a metaphor is more or less to relate two similar things. There are no examples in the story that would suggest that, so you can't relate it to that. You are using irrelevant facts because you know that you can't win the argument.
@TZTSsnakebelt again and again you make no valid point to refute my arguments , you went on responding with Ad hominem again , tell me what part of my argument didn't make sense to you and what was wrong with the way i wrote it . and if you think the only people who despise your narrow view of the world are atheists then again you're not very bright at reasoning, I'm far from being an atheist . if you think i can not speak the languages i just mention then try me.
@MrTheblackmessenger You're writing is filled with errors that almost anyone would not have unless they could not speak english well. You are making no points to refute MY argument. I made points against yours, but all your posts consist of is you saying that I am not refuting your argument. And my view of the world is definitely not narrow. And I would guess you are either an "athiest" or a scientist. Since you are wasting your time here being an idiot, I'm guessing that you are not a scientist
@TZTSsnakebelt "You are THE REASON some people don't like athiests" did i tell you that i was an atheist ? why do you judge people you don't know? "Go learn English before you try to argue with people about deep topics" really? unlike you i speak fluent English, French Chinese(both mandarin and Cantonese) Spanish and Portuguese , although english is not my native language I'm pretty sure i don't have anything to learn from you in that topic.
@MrTheblackmessenger I do speak fluent english. It is my native language, and I can tell that you are not a native english speaker. You are terrible at it. I highly doubt that you speak all of those languages. If you are not an athiest, then you wouldn't be arguing that there is no God. I realize now that you people aren't real athiests. You say you are because you are angry or naive. Anyone who judges others and hates a religion for no reason should not be free to express their opinion.
@moh490234890238490 Also, (since I ran out of room in the last comment) before you try to argue about such deep things as religion and God, learn to spell and write with suitable grammar. I highly doubt that you are an athiest just because that is what you believe when you are carrying on like this. If you were an athiest like that, you wouldn't be commenting in the first place. I believe that most athiests are fine people, and I really don't care what they believe.
@moh490234890238490 However, people like you give athiests a bad name because you try to be athiest just to be different and to rebel against society. To any of the athiests reading this that aren't carrying on and let others believe what they want, I'm sorry for writing all this. It is purely directed towards those that judge others while complaining about being judged. It is up to you what you believe, and I won't judge anyone for that. I just expect the same respect in return from athiests.
@TZTSsnakebelt ''It is up to you what you believe, and I won't judge anyone for that.'' Yes you have the right to believe what you what to believe and i have the right to call it silly. If you want to be respected you have to earn it not demand it while believing in childish fairy tails. Also you didn't even begin to address the argument of the old testament. Are you saying that Exodus 21:20-21 is a mistranslation? If it is then what's the correct translation?
@moh490234890238490 You don't have the right to call it silly. You have the right to think whatever you want, but you do not have the right to say things to people like that. That is called being an anus. It is not a mistranslation, but the Old Testament was written a long time ago, from the point of view of the people living at that time, based on what they knew at that time in history.
@TZTSsnakebelt 'You don't have the right to call it silly.'' The first amendment to the US constitution would disagree with you.
'he Old Testament was written a long time ago, from the point of view of the people living at that time, based on what they knew at that time in history.''
So god had nothing to do with it and we can ignore this ancient book of desert nomads, gotcha ;)
@moh490234890238490 The first amendment doesn't matter. It's human decency to not judge other people for no reason and to not be such a hypocrite as you are being. Also, the Old Testament was written a long time ago, but that doesn't mean we should totally ignore it. The stories in it are like old nursery rhymes. They have a moral to the story that is good. They were written as metaphors.
@TZTSsnakebelt 'The first amendment doesn't matter'' Wow never thought i'd hear that one, but i'm not really surpised. Theist go to extreme legnths to defend their failed ideology.
''It's human decency to not judge'' So where not allowed to judge anyone's position on anything or is religion the only exception?
'They have a moral to the story that is good.'' Not to many of them
''They were written as metaphors.'' By what authority do u judge these verses as metaphor?
@moh490234890238490 Thiests are not like you failures of people. We don't judge others like this. Neither do real athiests, but you aren'y included in that group. You are allowed to judge, but directly to the person you are judging. That is extremely rude. Many bible stories have morals. Also, I judge the verses as metaphors by the authority of being catholic. They ARE metaphors, so why would I not use that as a point of argument against your narrow-minded arguments.
@moh490234890238490 That is not "BS", it is true. Christians don't judge athiests like that. Radical Christians maybe, but they are the Christian equivalent of you, and any smart Christian would discount them from us immediately, just like any normal athiest would do to you. I meant to put "...but *not* directly to ...". That was my fault. typo. Also, many bible stries have morals, you are probably just too narrow-minded to see them. And, yes, you are supposed to accept that they're metaphors.
@TZTSsnakebelt You're welcome to believe what you want. Case of point, my girlfriend is Catholic. But your religion causes very real hurt in this world, and I am entitled to judge that religion and anyone who follows it.
@boochainletters12 You are not entitled to judge anyone out loud like this. Religion does cause problems, but so do people like you. You have given athiests a bad name. Luckily, the athiests I know personally are nice guys who really don't care what you believe because it's your choice. Can some actual athiest help me out here? People like this truly give people of your beliefs a bad name.
@TZTSsnakebelt you remember the time in history when religion was all powerful? you persecuted people because of their beliefs culture and race , you found excuses in your scriptures to justify murderer, genocide , rape .racism and invasion , atrocities of all kinds. this is a new area the age of reason where religion comes to die. you are on the wrong side of history , like they say if you don't want your beliefs to be ridiculed , why do you have ridiculous beliefs?.
@MrTheblackmessenger You say "you" as if it was ME who did this. I have not done anything like that. People in the past have, but they are not me. I am me, and others are each themselves. We are not all the same person. We share a faith but the sins of one person are not the sins of everyone. Also, I do not have ridiculous beliefs. You are the very definition of a hypocrite. You don't want people to judge you, but you judge others for no reason.
@TZTSsnakebelt "You say "you" as if it was ME who did this" i thought your English skills were better than that ....Mr English teacher .i was using "you" referring to Christians( theist) as a whole not as an insignificant singleton like you . And you didn't refute any of my arguments instead you attacked me personally, and since i know that Ad Hominems are a logical fallacy that only shows the incapability of the opponent to refute a valid argument i won't bother responding.
@MrTheblackmessenger That in no way means that my english is bad. It means that you are bad at expressing your point. The way you worded it makes it sound as if it is directed specifically at me. If you don't remember. You joined this conversation in a comment that attacked me. You made fun of my english, however, there was nothing wrong with it. Also, I have refuted your statements. Humans are not God. What humans do is not what God has done. Also, every single group of people has made mistakes.
@TZTSsnakebelt What leads you to believe the Old Testament is metaphorical, when so much of it is clear cut instructions? Is it just that you can't accept that your god may actually be a monster? You talk about respect, well I can respect you, but not your religion. And certainly not most other followers of the religion, when atheists are compared to rapists. When they push laws based on an old book that has no bearing on society today. That is not just stupidity, it's insanity.
@boochainletters12 My God is not a monster. You don't have to respect my religion, you just cannot disrespect us for no reason. The Old Testament is obviously metaphorical. There are meanings behind most stories in it. It is obvious that most of these stories never happened, but they DO have a purpose and moral. I do not compare rapists to athiests. Radical Christians do. This is something entirely different from me. Just like you are a Radical Athiest. You are a hypocrite.
Wow. Apparently it`s still middle ages in America. Where I come from, if you`re as religious as most of the Americans, you`re considered really weird and extremely conservative. I respect you guys so much for fighting against stupidity of religion! And at times like these I`m so glad I live in Europe... :))
Is it like this a lot? It makes no sence to me that you should fear saying you're an atheist O.o Where I live you should be more careful of saying you're really religious xD
.,my family is a muslim... now i'm an atheist... it's more difficult for me because aside from being n athesit i'm a bisexual... and my family are muslims... it is not only i'm afraid but also i'm afraid of my life...
@scorpioninpink I suggest to not reveal ANYTHING to them until you can live on your own. And if you do reveal stuff to them be careful not to be with them alone or with people of their religion, I know I sound ridiculous, but if you're scared for your life, I suspect you have reason (possibly besides what Islam teaches) to be in fear.
Let's open ourselves, don't be afraid. One day, when most people recognize how ridiculous religion is, it will be Christians who will be afraid to show themselves.
Wow, it's crazy how much of a struggle being or becoming an atheist means for many Americans. I hope you guys all have the strength to go through with it. :)
Liked the story, eventhough I'm not an Atheist. A friend of mine has an atheist friend that was a Christian, neither him nor I have a problem with that, but I don't like when people don't talk to someone because of their beliefs. I believe in Christianity, I'm not a Christian, but have found Christianity pretty solid and with good principles, and have met some friends that know a lot of the subject, whom I respect a lot, and you can see that they really try to reason it all.
I feel SO privileged to have grown up in a time where I can easily access worlds of information at the click of a button. If the internet had never existed, I'd probably be spending my Sundays in a church.
I've been a long time skeptic, but only just this month have I felt comfortable calling myself a full-blown atheist.
My parents have made me go to a form of church 4 times a week since i was little - very heavy indoctrination (im the ministers son)
I'm in first year uni, so i should be able to move out in a few years. Hopefully I can tell them then and stop being a "closet atheist."
I would tell them now if: I wasnt scared that they would kick me out and if we didnt live next door to the church, because that would be so, so awkward.
@bluexepnos I feel for you.(This from experience) Study your ass off everyday at your university so you can find a career and live your life the way you want to. I have never been happier since I escaped.
I wouldn't call them his "struggles" with doubt. More like his epiphany of doubting. And it's good to know I'm not alone in this highly religious world. Thank you TheThinkingAtheist!!!!!!!!
I still haven't been able to tell my family I'm an atheist. Not even my love, because I know she'll probably leave me for it...... its really hard to leave with.
@zac724 I find it ridiculous that fear is one of Christianity/Catholicism's main ways of delivering their message. Don't live the rest of your life in fear, tell them now before your conscience drives you insane. Good luck my friend.
I live in what some would consider part of the, "bible belt", Western Maryland, near WV. It's not as bad as you'd think, but there are still asshats, but that's to be expected lol
Jeez I see all these stories about people being ashamed to call themselves Atheist, especially in America. I'm glad in Australia it isn't such a big deal, I am proud to be an Atheist, in my mind I see myself as free.
@DarrenCherub Same here. I live in Latvia and even though most of my relatives are quite religious, in school most people are agnostic and don't really care about god. You're more likely to get singled out for being a hardcore christian. Never thought being an atheist in America is this hard!:O
@offwithurhead Oh it's hard, everywhere I go there's some nut-job trying to convert me! Did you hear about that "Atheist Registry" some crazy pastor tried to pass?
@offwithurhead A leprechaun climbed out of his shower-head and told him to do it? I haven't the faintest idea! Unfortunately; it wouldn't be a long list.
the fact that faith can even exist in third world countries ASTOUNDS ME!
how can the worlds most unfortunate people, be faithful?
they have nothing yet they thank god!
if i lived in a third world country, i would be cursing god every day, for being the faggot that put me there, made me poor, killed my family, sickened my country, dried up my land, took away my food, depleted me of my muscles and strength, fucked my life!
faith shouldnt exist anywhere... ESPECIALLY not in third world countries..
I think I'd be very angry with my parents if they were incredibly upset and crying and all that, just because I was an atheist. I'd sit down and debate them. Show them how much bullshit is in their 'word of god'. Then, I would walk away and say they could come back when they could act like normal adults instead of weeping babies.
@ArabianRuLeS If you would've been born in America or India, you would believe in the Christian god or Vishnu, not Allah. I hope you're aware of this.
My dad's parents were both very very very religious and so were their parents and their parents and so on, my dad started to question god and religion when he was 11 years old, he read the bible at that age and many books about religion, evolution and all those stuff and by age 13 my dad was an Atheist, luckily my grandparents respected his beliefs and nothing changed. Since my dad became an Atheist he stopped the cycle of brainwashing that has been in my family for generations.
And he ended up with that... poor bastard.

Let's look at it a different way. I choose to believe in a theory that is incomplete, but is based on actual scientific evidence. You choose to believe in a theory that has no evidence and no explanatory power, but it makes you feel good. Which sounds crazier now?

This lady is retarded, The Old Testament is all metaphorical. Also, half of you people are idiots. I don't hate on athiests for their beliefs- I let them believe what they want because it doesn't concern me, so I expect the same respect from athiests towards Christians and people of other faiths. Instead, I read these comments and all of you are making fun of thiests and saying things like (quote from a comment below), "I respect you guys so much for fighting against the stupidity of religion!"

@TZTSsnakebelt
Beliefs?
Atheists don't have believe but rather it's the lack of beliefs.
Get it right please.
NAGCDuskdusks 1 month ago
@NAGCDuskdusks To believe there is no God is definitely a belief, idiot. Also, "Athiests don't have believe..." makes no sense. How can you even try to argue with someone when you can't even write coherent sentences.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Both of you get it right. Atheism is the lack of belief in a supernatural "god-like" being.
lokixGarzy 1 month ago
@lokixGarzy What do you think I just said? I clearly wrote that to have no belief in a God is belief that there is no God. Therefore, it is a belief. Also, the only reason I even replied to that guy is because he's trying to be a troll because he knows I'm right in my other comment, and he can't think of a good response.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Well, you're wrong. What if someone had never heard of the god concept? They would have no belief in god since they had never heard of him. Would they believe that there is no god? Of course not, they don't even know of the idea.

MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You are speaking to me through writing on the internet. You have not presented any relevant facts. All you have done is called my religion silly. Also, you are constantly commenting about how I make fun of you personally for your lack of ability to write english. You have been doing the same thing, and a perfect example is above. I have refuted your arguments, and the reason I hold my beliefs is because that is what I believe. You can believe what you want, and I, what I want.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt ".All you have done is called my religion silly" nope i presented to the reason i think your religion has committed any imaginable atrocities in the past and is still doing so up to these present days .... you didn't refute it. i also stated why i think your belief are silly and you response was :"the reason I hold my beliefs is because that is what I believe." very convincing ...Mr English teacher i wonder where you learned your reasoning skills.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You have done nothing but make fun of my religion and its followers. I have not made fun of athiests. I don't understand why you are so hypocritical that you would judge others' religions for no reason. Also, everyone has commited atrocities. From reading this, I am guessing you are pro-abortion? From my experience, people like you are, I may be wrong however. My point was I hold my beliefs because what I believe is my choice, and I chose to believe in God.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "From reading this, I am guessing you are pro-abortion?" you are a judgmental person but that's OK i understand where you come from. as i told you before I'm not atheist but that doesn't mean that I'm religious . talking about abortion from my first impression you don't understand too much about human biology so it will be pointless to go that way. but just for your information I'm anti abortion ,unless it is for clinical purpose .
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt also i would like to know how you came to the conclusion of being smarter than me through a youtube comment, maybe i was trolling all the way who knows . so why do you judge people you don't know? i never attacked you personally i refuted your argument in a manner that every body with a half hemispheric brain could understand. i suspect there is another reason that drove you to that conclusion , and i think that wasn't very bright from you.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger I came to this conclusion because you even joined this argument on the side you are on. Any semi-smart person would understand that choice of religion is needed and should not be judged for no reason aloud. You were trolling me all the way? really? I'm not even going to answer that question because it is so retarded. I don't judge people that I don't know. I observed how you are from this, and realize that you are severely wrong. Also, you did not refute my argument.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt so anyone who does not speak English to you is a complete ignorant, so what does the fact that you don't speak French or Chinese makes you... let me guess; not Einstein. The last time i checked Atheist didn't knock at people doors claiming that they had the solution for their suffering. Atheist didn't try to falsify scientific facts to suit their beliefs, Atheist didn't bomb abortion clinics or bomb themselves up for their God. guess who did that?
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger No, but trying to argue about something like this in English when you obviously can't speak it is foolish. I don't care to speak French because it is not a very useful language, Chinese would be nice, but I have better things to do than learn a third language. Christians don't do any of those things either. The church might, but I and most other Christians do not. You are also judging Muslims now. Muslims do not blow themselves up; Radical Muslims do.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "Any semi-smart person would understand that choice of religion is needed" are you calling 92% of the top scientists all over the world who don't hold any religious belief semi-smart" , wow that so intelligent from you Mr English teacher. you don't judge people you don't know but as if you've seen my IQ test result or my academic qualification you publicly stated that everybody here was smarter than me, I'm still wondering why. MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger No, I am saying that any semi-smart person would understand that the ability to freely choose your religion is needed. Also, I stated everyone was smarter than you because they are.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You're a neurologist? I find that somewhat hard to believe based on how quickly you respond to my comments. Also, I judged you based on known, and I will stick to my judgement. You are a fool because you are so narrow-minded. It doesn't matter if you're a "neurologist"(I highly doubt that), because you look at the world as a constant instead of a variable. Which means, you don't recognize the fact that you could be wrong and others could be right. (cont. on next)
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger (Part 2: part 1 below.) I accept others religion because they think they're right, and they could be. So, I respect them and let them believe what they want, expecting the same respect of choice from them.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt but i wouldn't even bother responding to your personal attacks since i know how the mind of people like you works. but let me ask you this , you really believe that you can know how intelligent somebody is based on a youtube comment?or maybe you are just an bigoted person who can not defend his position and use logical fallacies to hide his weakness?further , i would like to compare ur contribution to ur field with mine and see who is better,r u on?u started it.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger I can defend my position perfectly well. I haven't even stated anything that proves there is a higher being, even though I could have, because I don't want to disrespect the athiests here that are not as narrow-minded as you are and accept others. Defending my point of view without using my most valid point of argument because it could offend others is being respectful, which, apparently, you don't know how to do,judging by your insults to me and hypocritical scolding of me.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger My contributions to my field are much greater than yours. You waste your time on Youtube when you should be working. I waste my time on Youtube when I'm not in highschool. And, I am still doing fine in this argument. If you contributed to anything good, you wouldn't be on here expressing your narrow-minded views. You would agree with my original stement.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "My contributions to my field are much greater than yours." why don't we send each other links to see what we have published in our respective fields? what's your field by the way? . and yes I'm working , but i just find it funny to slap some rationality to narrow minded people like you . it's kind of funny to talk to somebody with an IQ as low as yours. remember you started this, i didn't want to be mean to you .
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger My field is currently school. I haven't even graduated yet, but I bet I have a much better understanding of the world than you do. You are narrow-minded. I checked your Youtube page, and it seems that you spend a good deal of time just trolling people like this. So, I bet you are a very productive scientist. The fact that you actually thought I was in some field of work/science shows how much better I am doing than you are. Also, my IQ is very high.I didn't start this, though.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger Also, you say that you speak fluent english, yet you just wrote, "...and i think that wasn't very bright from you." It wasn't very bright from me? Yeah that's nice English...(sarcasm)
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger I have now learned to laugh at people like you. I realize that you will never understand the magnitude of you folly. You are too narrow-minded to understand that the world is varied in beliefs and no one can be judged as definitely right or wrong. Also, since you have been nothing but a complete anus, I will play my trump card. You act like there is scientific fact that there is no God. With the big bang theory, there is a flaw.Where did the matter in the big bang come from?
TZTSsnakebelt 6 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt give me a reason why i should keep a conversation with high school student who have no undestanding about basic human biology or physics? this is a completely pointless and unecessary waste of time for me. i have more important things to do with my life , graduate first and maybe when you have at least a master degree in a scientific field we could then talk . until then stop wasting my time and go read a scientific book or stay ignorant ; the choice is yours
MrTheblackmessenger 6 days ago
@MrTheblackmessenger I have a fine understanding of biology and physics. The fact that I am able to keep an argument going with a neurologist should be proof enough to you that I am perfectly qualified to be here. I am not ignorant. I don't pin myself to one view of religions and beliefs like you do. You are also saying that anyone without a masters degree is a fool. That is arrogant and foolish.
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt I find reasoning like this adorable. The Big Bang wasn't the creation of matter - it was the earliest configuration of matter and energy that we're able to probe. As we don't have a quantum theory of gravity yet we don't have the mathematical tools necessary to tell us more. However, there isn't any reason to believe that matter and energy have ever not existed. To postulate that a god did it because you personally have gaps in your logic is not only fallacious, but disingenuous.
AletheianAeon 5 days ago
@AletheianAeon The big bang was when all matter, which was compressed into a very small area, exploded out from its previously occupied space. Now, tell me where did the matter for this explosion came from? Tell me where the original matter in existence came from. There will never be any explanation to this. You have to have faith in some unprovable idea. It might as well be a God, but if you don't believe that there is a God, then I won't judge you for that, but I expect you not to judge me.
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "There is no logical scientific explanation as to where the matter in the big bang came from, and there will never be"

@AletheianAeon Also, is the thought that there is a Being that has always existed any more crazy than the thought that matter has always existed? The answer is no.
What does that even mean?
paleflarelight 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Your trump card has a flaw, you obviously know nothing about the big bang :/ I'd suggest listening to your own advice and learn about the stuff you are about to say before you say it.
Calulord 5 days ago
@Calulord It has no flaw. There is no logical scientific explanation as to where the matter in the big bang came from, and there will never be. My reason for writing this is to prove that you can not judge others whom believe in a God because you find it impossible or unscientific, when the existence of life itself, and even the existence of any matter, is unscientific. Accept that others have different beliefs and go on with life. Don't judge them because your belief is equally lacking proof.
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "There is no logical scientific explanation as to where the matter in the big bang came from, and there will never be"
How do you know there never will be? Unless you have a crystal ball that can see into the future, that statement is completely unfounded.
paleflarelight 5 days ago
@paleflarelight Do you honestly think there is any scientifically provable explanation for where the first particles of matter came from? If there was nothing in existence, where did it come from?
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt You're using the 'first cause' argument to show that god exists. There are few problems with that. Firstly, where did god come from? If something can't come from nothing, then how did god come to be? Secondly, it tells us nothing about why we're here, what we ought to do, or what god's nature or characteristics are. It has no explanatory power.
paleflarelight 5 days ago
@paleflarelight You are completely proving my argument right now. My whole argument currently is that God's existence and your belief in only science are equally ungrounded. You cannot answer any of those questions with science either. That is my point. You shouldn't judge others's religions when your beliefs are just as crazy. Live and let live. Science also tells us nothing about why we are here and what we should do, so that part of your argument is silly.
TZTSsnakebelt 4 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt As I stated already, science does require faith that there exists an objective external reality that is subject to certain physical laws. That's it. The big bang is a theory about the origin of the universe that is based on observed physical laws and phenomena. Your belief in god is not based on those laws. You need MORE faith to believe in god. Thus you're wrong, belief in science and religion is not the same.
paleflarelight 4 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "My reason for writing this is to prove that you can not judge others whom believe in a God because you find it impossible or unscientific, when the existence of life itself ..... is unscientific"
I can certainly judge others if their beliefs are illogical, irrational or downright silly. And to say that the existence of life itself is unscientific is a meaningless statement. Science hasn't answered everything, but that doesn't mean it can't or never will.
paleflarelight 5 days ago
@paleflarelight Science can't answer everything. The presence of life contradicts science. The thought that something cannot arise from nothing is completely false. The first matter came from somewhere.
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Ok, so the first matter came from somewhere. Let's say god did it. Now what? The next logical step would be to investigate who/what god is, what he/its characteristics are. How do we do that?
paleflarelight 5 days ago
@paleflarelight You believe and have faith. Those are the principles of religions. The same goes for science. Science can't explain everything, so you simply have to hypothesize about these things. You are basing your beliefs off of guesses and conjectures. Everyone does it, so don't judge others. I'm not telling you to believe in God, I'm simply saying that both of our beliefs, as well as all others, are ungrounded and should not be judged by others who expect respect in return.

paleflarelight 4 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt You're right, you do need faith to believe in science. You need to make atleast two assumptions completely on faith: 1) There exists an external objective reality, and 2) There exists some sort of uniformity through time. Beyond those very basic assumptions, which are necessary just to function in the world, science attempts to minimize faith as much as possible. Religion encourages it. A hypothesis is not the same thing as blind faith.
paleflarelight 4 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Yeah you're right, a far more logical explanation would be there was an ever present sky wizard with a concept of morality that exists outside of all of our laws of physics and just made everything out of shits and giggles rather than a complete theory with a few things we have yet to discover. Your choosing a theory with no evidence over a theory was a few bits we haven't found out yet.
Calulord 5 days ago
@Calulord God isn't a sky wizard. It makes as much sense that there is a God that created all things as that there was spontaneous creation of matter in nothingness. Science is not a complete theory.
TZTSsnakebelt 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt God can't even call itself a theory. Like I said, you're choosing a theory with no evidence over a much richer theory with a few missing pieces then claim its scientific.
Calulord 5 days ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Also if you had ever taken the time to look it up you would have found that after its initial expansion from a singularity, the Universe cooled sufficiently to allow energy to be converted into various subatomic particles. It would take thousands of years for some of these particles (protons, neutrons, and electrons) to combine and form atoms, the building blocks of matter. Found that after 2 seconds of googling.

Yup just a ''metaphor''. That just your excuse for the atrocities of the all testament. Moist theist begin to realize that most of the bible is not really practicable and they rationalize it away.
moh490234890238490 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 You truly don't understand. The Old Testament was written a long time ago BY HUMANS. The Old Testament is probably not the exact words of God, and, to put it into an applicable cliché, the meanings are sometimes lost in translation. You are accusing me of using this as an excuse, but this is a fact. The bible was written in Hebrew, so a lot of it naturally will seem strange in English. You, however, are using the fact that the Old Testament is written this way as your excuse.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt Psst, the entire bible was written by humans. None of it is the exact word of god, even if you believe he exists. You're also saying that the bible has been mistranslated and you can't take very clear and obvious instructions to be what they are because...? I'm guessing you figure they can't be like that because your god is perfect so he wouldn't do that. What's your excuse for the bible being written as it is?
boochainletters12 1 month ago
@boochainletters12 The bible was written by humans, but inspired by God. It has not been mistranslated, but things can lose some of there meaning when translated to different languages. I've noticed there are two halves of athiests: the cool ones who are nice and don't care what you believe, and the anus ones like you guys commenting.. I am not using this as an excuse. It is a fact. The Old Testament is written metaphorically and parts are based on the way people thought when it was written.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt so it's all metaphor? so why should i bother follow you ten special list anyway? so when they say that Jesus was washing is disciples feet they really meant that he was sucking their dicks? i always knew that there was something wrong with a guy hanging around with twelve men ... all metaphor right.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You make no sense. Go learn English before you try to argue with people about deep topics. Obviously you don't know what metaphorical means. It relates something to something else that is similar. How would washing feet and giving bjs be considered similar. You are THE REASON some people don't like athiests. You act like you're better than everyone and know everything because you don't believe in God. Your post has no argumentative facts in it. You are retarded.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger Anyone who speaks english would agree with me that your previous comment makes no sense. The reason that I say you make no sense is because that is the truth. Also, you did get it wrong. The purpose of a metaphor is more or less to relate two similar things. There are no examples in the story that would suggest that, so you can't relate it to that. You are using irrelevant facts because you know that you can't win the argument.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt again and again you make no valid point to refute my arguments , you went on responding with Ad hominem again , tell me what part of my argument didn't make sense to you and what was wrong with the way i wrote it . and if you think the only people who despise your narrow view of the world are atheists then again you're not very bright at reasoning, I'm far from being an atheist . if you think i can not speak the languages i just mention then try me.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You're writing is filled with errors that almost anyone would not have unless they could not speak english well. You are making no points to refute MY argument. I made points against yours, but all your posts consist of is you saying that I am not refuting your argument. And my view of the world is definitely not narrow. And I would guess you are either an "athiest" or a scientist. Since you are wasting your time here being an idiot, I'm guessing that you are not a scientist
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "You are THE REASON some people don't like athiests" did i tell you that i was an atheist ? why do you judge people you don't know? "Go learn English before you try to argue with people about deep topics" really? unlike you i speak fluent English, French Chinese(both mandarin and Cantonese) Spanish and Portuguese , although english is not my native language I'm pretty sure i don't have anything to learn from you in that topic.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger I do speak fluent english. It is my native language, and I can tell that you are not a native english speaker. You are terrible at it. I highly doubt that you speak all of those languages. If you are not an athiest, then you wouldn't be arguing that there is no God. I realize now that you people aren't real athiests. You say you are because you are angry or naive. Anyone who judges others and hates a religion for no reason should not be free to express their opinion.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 Also, (since I ran out of room in the last comment) before you try to argue about such deep things as religion and God, learn to spell and write with suitable grammar. I highly doubt that you are an athiest just because that is what you believe when you are carrying on like this. If you were an athiest like that, you wouldn't be commenting in the first place. I believe that most athiests are fine people, and I really don't care what they believe.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 However, people like you give athiests a bad name because you try to be athiest just to be different and to rebel against society. To any of the athiests reading this that aren't carrying on and let others believe what they want, I'm sorry for writing all this. It is purely directed towards those that judge others while complaining about being judged. It is up to you what you believe, and I won't judge anyone for that. I just expect the same respect in return from athiests.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt ''It is up to you what you believe, and I won't judge anyone for that.'' Yes you have the right to believe what you what to believe and i have the right to call it silly. If you want to be respected you have to earn it not demand it while believing in childish fairy tails. Also you didn't even begin to address the argument of the old testament. Are you saying that Exodus 21:20-21 is a mistranslation? If it is then what's the correct translation?
moh490234890238490 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 You don't have the right to call it silly. You have the right to think whatever you want, but you do not have the right to say things to people like that. That is called being an anus. It is not a mistranslation, but the Old Testament was written a long time ago, from the point of view of the people living at that time, based on what they knew at that time in history.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt 'You don't have the right to call it silly.'' The first amendment to the US constitution would disagree with you.
'he Old Testament was written a long time ago, from the point of view of the people living at that time, based on what they knew at that time in history.''
So god had nothing to do with it and we can ignore this ancient book of desert nomads, gotcha ;)
moh490234890238490 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 The first amendment doesn't matter. It's human decency to not judge other people for no reason and to not be such a hypocrite as you are being. Also, the Old Testament was written a long time ago, but that doesn't mean we should totally ignore it. The stories in it are like old nursery rhymes. They have a moral to the story that is good. They were written as metaphors.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt 'The first amendment doesn't matter'' Wow never thought i'd hear that one, but i'm not really surpised. Theist go to extreme legnths to defend their failed ideology.
''It's human decency to not judge'' So where not allowed to judge anyone's position on anything or is religion the only exception?
'They have a moral to the story that is good.'' Not to many of them
''They were written as metaphors.'' By what authority do u judge these verses as metaphor?
moh490234890238490 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 Thiests are not like you failures of people. We don't judge others like this. Neither do real athiests, but you aren'y included in that group. You are allowed to judge, but directly to the person you are judging. That is extremely rude. Many bible stories have morals. Also, I judge the verses as metaphors by the authority of being catholic. They ARE metaphors, so why would I not use that as a point of argument against your narrow-minded arguments.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt 'We don't judge others like this.'' Absolute BS.
'Neither do real athiests'' ???
'You are allowed to judge, but directly to the person you are judging. '' ???
''Many bible stories have morals'' Few
''I judge the verses as metaphors by the authority of being catholic.'' So u say they are metaphors and we're suppose to accept that?
Your comment was complete incoherent and talking to you any further would just be a wast of my time.
moh490234890238490 1 month ago
@moh490234890238490 That is not "BS", it is true. Christians don't judge athiests like that. Radical Christians maybe, but they are the Christian equivalent of you, and any smart Christian would discount them from us immediately, just like any normal athiest would do to you. I meant to put "...but *not* directly to ...". That was my fault. typo. Also, many bible stries have morals, you are probably just too narrow-minded to see them. And, yes, you are supposed to accept that they're metaphors.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt You're welcome to believe what you want. Case of point, my girlfriend is Catholic. But your religion causes very real hurt in this world, and I am entitled to judge that religion and anyone who follows it.
boochainletters12 1 month ago
@boochainletters12 You are not entitled to judge anyone out loud like this. Religion does cause problems, but so do people like you. You have given athiests a bad name. Luckily, the athiests I know personally are nice guys who really don't care what you believe because it's your choice. Can some actual athiest help me out here? People like this truly give people of your beliefs a bad name.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt you remember the time in history when religion was all powerful? you persecuted people because of their beliefs culture and race , you found excuses in your scriptures to justify murderer, genocide , rape .racism and invasion , atrocities of all kinds. this is a new area the age of reason where religion comes to die. you are on the wrong side of history , like they say if you don't want your beliefs to be ridiculed , why do you have ridiculous beliefs?.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger You say "you" as if it was ME who did this. I have not done anything like that. People in the past have, but they are not me. I am me, and others are each themselves. We are not all the same person. We share a faith but the sins of one person are not the sins of everyone. Also, I do not have ridiculous beliefs. You are the very definition of a hypocrite. You don't want people to judge you, but you judge others for no reason.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt "You say "you" as if it was ME who did this" i thought your English skills were better than that ....Mr English teacher .i was using "you" referring to Christians( theist) as a whole not as an insignificant singleton like you . And you didn't refute any of my arguments instead you attacked me personally, and since i know that Ad Hominems are a logical fallacy that only shows the incapability of the opponent to refute a valid argument i won't bother responding.
MrTheblackmessenger 1 month ago
@MrTheblackmessenger That in no way means that my english is bad. It means that you are bad at expressing your point. The way you worded it makes it sound as if it is directed specifically at me. If you don't remember. You joined this conversation in a comment that attacked me. You made fun of my english, however, there was nothing wrong with it. Also, I have refuted your statements. Humans are not God. What humans do is not what God has done. Also, every single group of people has made mistakes.
TZTSsnakebelt 1 month ago
@TZTSsnakebelt What leads you to believe the Old Testament is metaphorical, when so much of it is clear cut instructions? Is it just that you can't accept that your god may actually be a monster? You talk about respect, well I can respect you, but not your religion. And certainly not most other followers of the religion, when atheists are compared to rapists. When they push laws based on an old book that has no bearing on society today. That is not just stupidity, it's insanity.
boochainletters12 1 month ago
@boochainletters12 My God is not a monster. You don't have to respect my religion, you just cannot disrespect us for no reason. The Old Testament is obviously metaphorical. There are meanings behind most stories in it. It is obvious that most of these stories never happened, but they DO have a purpose and moral. I do not compare rapists to athiests. Radical Christians do. This is something entirely different from me. Just like you are a Radical Athiest. You are a hypocrite.

@scorpioninpink I suggest to not reveal ANYTHING to them until you can live on your own.

IMO, with knowledge comes atheism.
I feel SO privileged to have grown up in a time where I can easily access worlds of information at the click of a button. If the internet had never existed, I'd probably be spending my Sundays in a church.
I've been a long time skeptic, but only just this month have I felt comfortable calling myself a full-blown atheist.

I am in exactly the same position as these guys.
My parents have made me go to a form of church 4 times a week since i was little - very heavy indoctrination (im the ministers son)
I'm in first year uni, so i should be able to move out in a few years. Hopefully I can tell them then and stop being a "closet atheist."
I would tell them now if: I wasnt scared that they would kick me out and if we didnt live next door to the church, because that would be so, so awkward.
anyway...... screw religion
