i played wow...for the whole summer last year...then i got bored with my friends cuz i got really strong...and i didint want to start over again and lvl up with just a different class(i lie i did it 2 times,then i got bored :D)...and the moment i saw this game,i completely forgot about wow,since im a big big big time star wars fan and an mmo(wow copy-as ppl like to reffer to them)fan...and i simply cant wait to be evil >:D
@Ligalotz I accidentally gave you a thumbs up, when I meant to give you a thumbs down. It's an MMO. To get enough of an audience, you have to make the graphics capable on lower end systems. For an MMO, the graphics are great.

I can't help but feel this is probably supposed to be a counter point to the Revan Reveal trailer. They only call "the jedi prisoner' by that name, and I assume it's going to turn out to be one of the jedi from Kotor 1 or 2.

@Bomyne there's a diffrence between quality and quantity. usually things that sell in quantity dont have much quality in it. wow is about quantity. people got used to it, it eats your brain, addictive and thats why its so populare. this doesnt really mean its "the best" it means it's the most populare. trandy. one day something else will kill it. and i hope that it wont be SWTOR, this way we wont have 11 year old assholes ruining the game. wow can keep them all.
Im afraid they are putting too much into the actual voicing of every character, instead of gameplay value. I quit WoW some time ago, sick of it as well, but sadly enough, it's hard to find a game that is as rewarding, but still offers depth and skill. WoW is just ruined. I have my hopes up for Titan! (when Im like 35 lawl)
Epic as always. I only have 2 problems though (3 really but one i am willing to forgive and another kind of bordering on forgiving) 1. This really isnt about flash points. this is the Republic alternate to the revan quest i believe. 2. The yoda species (name escapes me) looks too...dorky. but im willing to partially forgive this due to the fact its still in the works, and the iffy 3rd. Animations still look stiff but again. willing to forgive because its still in the works.
@143rdShadowARCunit It's stiff because the top and bottom of the players body do 2 different animations. The legs of course run around while the top part of his body attacks because you can attack while moving. You can even cast while moving. So it won't look stiff during combat.
@143rdShadowARCunit Of course, it is not impossible or improbable to do something as making a separate animation (moving the spine and arms) for the top of the body, but that is one of the last things you do.
Why the hell do you guys think SW:TOR is competing with wow? they both have amazing storyline and gameplay and for sure star wars will have pluses wich wow doesn't have and vice versa! I will stick with both of the games.
@Markterrycameron of course it doesn't have a great storyline when you just get in an instance or raid despiteing its own story... In wow everything has a storyline from quest chains till end-game raids.
@theazz777 wow i really wasnt aware that WoW even had a story. Usually its. Click this guy, get a book of text you wont bother reading. Look at what you need to kill and what the reward is. Follow quest arrow, collect 10 bear furs, why? because the quest says thats what you need for your reward. Go back, get reward, next quest.....
If not a wow killer this game will definitely force Blizzard to either remove their subscription fee or do a massive overhaul of WOW like new models for races, creatures etc
This is going to be good but far from a WoW killer. As much as i wan't to see a WoW killer i don't believe it will happen unelss Blizzard kills it with something else.
Blizzard is by far one of the most impressive game developers.

WoW's newest expansion sold 3.3 million on 24 hours and the one before it sold 12 million when it was the newest one (2 years). They've made WoW lean toward the younger community to "expand" their player group. But in turn have lost most of their older, more mature players that enjoy the challenge of working hard to get your gear and items (like how vanilla WoW was) I don't believe any MMO will "kill" WoW. It was an automatic success because of Blizzards strong brand, but compared to other MMOs out there it's weak in content. It's the definition of a cash cow business and Blizzard is just milking its subscribers on more and more cash - meaning less cash to the rest of all the great MMOs out there, making it very hard for better games to create long term profitability.

Personally i think this game is going to freakin' awesome, but that is just my opinion being a long standing fan of starwars. howeve it's not going to be a "WoW killer" anymore than the next smartphone is going to be an iPhone killer. This will be a really sweet MMO, because I have played all two KoTOR and I hope this will be just as good, although I still wish it was single player and named KoTOR3.
There is one bad thing I can think of though, all those freaking Star Wars fans that have never played KoTOR. Like those morons carrying on about Yoda. They need to get it in to their thick heads that yes it is based in the Star Wars world, but it IS NOT “STAR WARS”, it is “Knights of The Old Republic”! They are not the same!

this game wont kill WoW no matter how much some of us want it to. WoW is already acomplished in the terms of the play to play mmo service. nothing will kill it untill every one wakes up and notices that WoW is just as addictive as crack. Tor will be just fine. the WoW fans probably wont know exactly how many starwars fans their are that will jump right into this from day 1 and cause it to be another MMO that turns an active profit.
@Saanq To be fair the "facial textures" have improved by mile since first videos so I get feeling they will still keep improving them before launch. Also looking at yoda close up looks okay, I dont see many problems with it. Not many MMOs have that quality put to NPC's and player chars. Imo they are fine.

They tried the whole realistic look with an MMO, and it failed. It's called FFXIV. Granted that wasn't a big contributing factor. But MMOs do not need OMGCRYSISGRAPHICS. Learn how these things work.
@JediHeady That was simply a rumor. It has not been confirmed by either Bioware or EA. If it is on schedule for a spring release date (which by everything i've heard from the actual developers that seems to be the case) expect an announcement on the release date at PAX East 2011. If by some reason it gets delayed, expect EA to say this after their shareholders meeting this week.
But all points to it still being a spring release date.

@DiizZyV2 Gamestop is only using that as a place holder. Bioware has already came out and said that: "if you hear anything more specific than spring 2011 then its just pure speculation or a placeholder"
This was posted by one of the dev's on the official TOR forums.
Plus MMOs do not release the exact date until about 2 months prior to launch we still have at least 4 and 1/2 months before we go past the spring deadline so they have plenty of time. Most people believe they will announce @ PAX
@JediHeady which we all know the game will not come out until April 1st at the very earliest because EA said they won't release it till after the start of their fiscal 2012 calendar year which starts April 1st this year
@JediHeady That would be nice but is not happening since Feb 1st is today and they still haven't announced the release date. Expect it more likely be at the End of May (May 25 is my guess for historical Star Wars reasons lol :-D ) or by early to mid june (which is still in the spring release date timeframe)

This will be a really sweet MMO, because I have played all two KoTOR and I hope this will be just as good, although I still wish it was single player and named KoTOR3.
There is one bad thing I can think of though, all those freaking Star Wars fans that have never played KoTOR. Like those morons carrying on about Yoda. They need to get it in to their thick heads that yes it is based in the Star Wars world, but it IS NOT “STAR WARS”, it is “Knights of The Old Republic”! They are not the same!

this game wont kill WoW no matter how much some of us want it to. WoW is already acomplished in the terms of the play to play mmo service. nothing will kill it untill every one wakes up and notices that WoW is just as addictive as crack. Tor will be just fine. the WoW fans probably wont know exactly how many starwars fans their are that will jump right into this from day 1 and cause it to be another MMO that turns an active profit.

@Saanq To be fair the "facial textures" have improved by mile since first videos so I get feeling they will still keep improving them before launch. Also looking at yoda close up looks okay, I dont see many problems with it. Not many MMOs have that quality put to NPC's and player chars. Imo they are fine.

@SurrealLeaf Watched it again, you're right they have improved the facial textures considerably, somehow just the image of the hologram was stuck in my head (1.08 - come on you gotta agree that looks bad) others looks fine as you said.

@Saanq I think it looks bad because its one colored holocram with no shadows, light, texturing (holograms dont really have shadows now do they =P).
If it were textured and had all fancy stuff 0:30 has then it would look better. But yeah I know what you mean.

They tried the whole realistic look with an MMO, and it failed. It's called FFXIV. Granted that wasn't a big contributing factor. But MMOs do not need OMGCRYSISGRAPHICS. Learn how these things work.

@JediHeady That was simply a rumor. It has not been confirmed by either Bioware or EA. If it is on schedule for a spring release date (which by everything i've heard from the actual developers that seems to be the case) expect an announcement on the release date at PAX East 2011. If by some reason it gets delayed, expect EA to say this after their shareholders meeting this week.
But all points to it still being a spring release date.

@DiizZyV2 Gamestop is only using that as a place holder. Bioware has already came out and said that: "if you hear anything more specific than spring 2011 then its just pure speculation or a placeholder"
This was posted by one of the dev's on the official TOR forums.
Plus MMOs do not release the exact date until about 2 months prior to launch we still have at least 4 and 1/2 months before we go past the spring deadline so they have plenty of time. Most people believe they will announce @ PAX

Expect it more likely be at the End of May (May 25 is my guess for historical Star Wars reasons lol :-D ) or by early to mid june (which is still in the spring release date timeframe)
