  • Shocked! ! Ballet in three easy ways to enhance the skills website: bal.nn.cx

  • Comment removed

  • So slope

  • YA'LL NEED TO STOP!!! YA'LL ARE BEING RUDE!!!! They are both taking the time out to teach ballet lessons and ya'll are runnin' off at the mouth!!!!

  • First of all, it's spelt RONDE DE JAMBE! I think you should know how to spell it and pronounce it before you teach it!

  • I try my best to learn every ballet move online at least every beginner move.So far ive learned the pique ,pirouette, reverence, plie of course, grande battement, chaines turns, and rand de jambre. The fouette is kinda hard.

  • When you do ROND DE JAMBE, the leg must be EN DEHORS.

    Very very important.

Buy a dvd with the french pronunciation of the names and with the correct SPELLING!

  • SOOOO BAD!!!never wear baggy clothes for ballet and her legs are SOO turned out and not beautiful you should not be teaching!!!

  • hey I just want to tell you that you need to chang the name of the viedo because I'm french and I do ballet and we says

rOnd de jambes and not rAnd de jambRes

  • hey I just want to tell you that you need to chang the name of the viedo because I'm french and I do ballet and we says

rOnd de jambes and not rAnd de jambes

  • töll_leùtÈ_sucht_mal_Ñách:_olikohle_áûf_goÖglè_vOll_geÍl

  • Rond De JAMBRE!? LOL.

  • @JimeBallack13 Hell no!! You're never too old to start ballet...

    Well...

Maybe if you were ninety, that'd be too old, but you get my drift.

  • @JimeBallack13 no, you're never too old. but you most likely won't become a professional dancer unless you work 24/7 (literally), but you can always do recreational dance.

  • haha her leg is completely turned in she sucks so badly.

  • thumbs up if you thought the old woman at the begginig was skinny...until 0:13:P

  • she keeps wiggling her hips as she goes to tendu derriere and when she closes first. also, she is rolling on her instep as she passes through first position and not using her full rotation to the front.

  • I will never listen to an ''expert'' who spells rond de jambe.

    RAND DE JAMBRE.

Also, rond de jambes shouldn't just STOP like that, they're supposed to FLOW.

  • ROND DE JAMBE ma chère

  • ronde de jambe!!!

  • If all of y'all are such experts on ballet then why are you watching the beginners ballet series?

  • @BOOMPOWbethany because even experts can learn from others.. that's kind of how you become an expert :P

  • rand de jambe de jambre??? really?? Does Expert Village do any sort of credential checking??

  • @Phan130 umm actually they are both teachers... and tbh only professional dancers need to be the stereotypical tall and thin..

    take your comments somewhere else.

  • she really needs to establish proper turnout strength and strength in her core. she is gippping on to that bar for dear life and taking her body around with the leg instead of being square.!! seriously it should be illegal for people to teach ballet like this!

  • The teacher should be killed to say The girl's doing correctly The ronds de jambes ! The legs are en dedans and The Arms look like a robot's !

Sorry for The grammatical mistakes i am french !

  • When you do a rand de jomb u aren't supposed to stop at the quarters.. u are supposed to slow down but not stop. and when u are closing back into first u need to press ur toes down then close! Expert villiage stop posting ballet vid becuase u dont even know anything about ballet!

  • @razzledazzle453 plz if you know any beginner steps tell me because i just cant go to ballet schools and need help

  • @ILuvDancing445 I do know about beginning ballet this is my sith year in ballet and im on pointe now... I'll post a vid soon! :)

  • can't see

  • Oops wrong video... I'm looking for "Rond de jambe" not whatever this is...

  • she doesn't turn out her left foot!!

  • Yoland is so cute! And so talented! She's got a great ballerina future!

  • don't hate jolene! at the end of the vid she looks so happy when her teacher praises her like a puppy! and i've watched a couple of these videos now and i say that this was the best technique up to now what i've seen from her, besides anyone whos actually done ballet knows that ronds de jambe are the basics of the basics and thus difficult

  • Are you meant to plie when you close into first third or fifth or is that just in some cases?

  • @ROBYNninjaBANANA only when your teacher says so :)

  • @Stammyify oh okay thanks :) i just see some people do it so try it myself in class but end up getting told off for it :P

  • @ROBYNninjaBANANA well i went through basic lvl and got transferred to lvl2 and then got transferred again and now i'm on 5, but it just started so idunno but i have never not even once closed a ronde to third of fifth, so i guess its kinda rare to do that but yeah the plies only when the teacher says so.. well maybe closed to 3rd or 5th when doing those little rondes en l'air in pasé

  • I must be the only guy who likes ballet.

  • @iBringTheMusic no you're not, i'm here lol

  • @Stammyify Whoop Whoop. :DD

  • @iBringTheMusic thank you for this very informative comment lol :D

  • @iBringTheMusic your not, there's other guys out there that like ballet...

  • um... please tell me you dont actually teach people to dance. that poor girl has the potential to be wonderful, but she's being taught all wrong. she's leaning on the ballet bar, and her hips are moving with her leg, its all wrong...

  • @AbiSnail13 oh yes that's what i saw immediately. her hips move all the time but the ballet instructor doesnt correct her at all! now THAT would be helpful if she would say: be careful not to move your hip etc... like that it doesnt help anybody to improve.

  • one more thing..if your shaking the barre you arent using actual muscles thats a great way to be lazy:)

  • 1. you shouldn't sink into your working leg when you close in first

    2. your arm is way too far behind your shoulder which is why your shoulders and hips aren't square

    3. you're moving your hips with your legs

who decided these people were experts??

  • are they both hobos? idk i cant tell:) someone get back to me on that:)

  • @BalletBum7 LOL true that.

  • he he expert v. is soooo not expert. a ron de jambre is suppose to be in fondue smooth not to be quarter stopped.:) i dont get how some people learn from these vids. just go to class, you learn it on the first day !!!

    dancer for 9 years

  • @Phan130 How amazingly rude! Maybe you should stop focusing so much on ballet and start learning character.

  • The model, Joleen has some good physical traits for ballet. She has naturally turned out hips, is relatively flexible, and is focused and precise. Unfortunately, the teacher has very limited knowledge of ballet technique. The loose clothing and dark colors obscure the body's lines, muscle tone, and coordinated movement. Look at ilyaballet on Youtube to see superb training. There is no excuse for this low level of skill in the U.S. any more.

  • In addition to the corrected spellings others have posted, I'd like to point out that rond de jambe is a movement, not a position.

  • i like cheese...and ballett<3

  • Okay, I just started ballet last year and even I can tell that this is wrong...

  • her feet are killing me! stop sickling!

  • ROND

    DE JAMBE

    EN L'AIRE.

It frightens me that you teach people to dance. l2ballet stp.

  • @downwentalice Thank you, I was just about to write it myself lool !!wth is rand de jambre !?!? eeeww

  • @downwentalice I was literally smacking my head off the table at every mispronunciation xD

  • what the heck! this girl is awful and she cant spell!

first of all its Rond de Jambe.

second is A terre not 'parterre'?

    and thats not en lair.

  • @Phan130 the teacher or the dancer?

  • both

  • @Phan130

that is so horrible she aint fat, you dont need to take the mick outta peoples weight. she pretty normal actually i'd love to be like her. you are most proberbly jelous so you take the mick out of your own embarressed feelings

  • of course, that i'm not jelous, i know how to do ROND DE JAMBE PARTERRE, and i am thin, i have no complex, i know how ballet dancer looks, she doesn't

  • @Phan130 I'd like to see you do that.

  • @Phan130 Wow..you are so incredibly sad. I don't understand people like you. That girl is built like a dancer. I'll bet anything that you're the overweight one, hiding behind the computer and trying to make others feel like crap because that's how you feel. Poor you..Not.

  • a few things shes doing completely wrongg.

and i should know because, i've been danceing ballet for 10 years. also, ballet barre.

  • Wow...you people are BRUTAL.

  • That's not correct! THIS was supposed to be a plie?!

  • hey

  • Oh dear "Expert"??? Can't spell rond de jambe and I was always taught that it was "a terre" not "parterre". But hey, I wasn't taught by Americans, so what would I know about speaking French?

why oh why do people do this sort of self-promotion on YouTube? It's not smart and it's not funny. Embarrassing, really.

  • @redbookish Probably because that was the original intent of YouTube?

  • @redbookish

No kidding! Inability to spell does not inspire confidence!

  • horrible feet!!!o my god!!

  • does ''rand de jambre'' means ''rond de jambe'' ??? This is a very BAD french!!! haha

  • It just upsets me that "Joalene" or whoever that girl is, has managed to look that good with her bad technique training. I mean, it's not her fault she has a natural gift that hasn't been properly fostered. If she had the proper training, she could get really good. She just needs to quit now. now.

  • hahaha that teacher makes me laugh and i'm not quite sure why....

  • me too!

  • OK how about checking the spelling first of all before putting things up here ????

    jambre - wtf?

  • ohh ok :)

  • isn't it meant to be a smooth movement??

  • It is, but in earlier grades, they often use quarter turns and never go to derierre all that often. In later grades, they usually incorporate a full Rond De Jambe a terre, then go into en l'air. Do not attempt en l'air when you are a beginner; it requires precise technique.

She really should just be teaching 'Demi Rond De Jambe's' for beginners.

  • you know her 'first position' well im no expert and ive only read it in a book but shouldnt her feet be in a straight line? rather than like a V shape?

  • no if they were u probley falll over

  • Ideally yes, but if you force it you can injury yourself. I have learned that in ballet calls

  • thats wat i thought 2, but i have seen a lot of beginner ballet dancers start out in a more v shape. i guess it depends on flexibility. i started more v-shaped, but now im more of a line. i havnt been doin it very long

  • She looks terrible. Like a child playing dress ups. Dear Dear Dear 1 star

  • OMFG BRUSH THE FLOOR!!!!!!!

  • l'air

  • did you say, Rond de jambe à terre? or Rond de jambe en lair?

  • I'm French and "Rand de Jambre" doesn't exist.. it's Rond de jambe =)

  • 'Rand de jambre'? What the x ? Never mind how you pronounce it, at least spell it properly! it's 'ROND DE JAMBE'. Damn, sorry but that really annoys me.

  • i know thats so stupid the at least know there terms in ballet

  • Me Too!!!! :)

  • please give me thumbs down if you must but ballet teachers scare me. D: I like ballet but sometimes the teachers can be way to cruel to their students!

  • when she does it slightly in the air

and does it forward, she doesn't turn out her foot.

    terrible, terrible. 'experts'

  • wow i guess some people have nothing better to do

  • wtf! wheres her weight!? she moves her whole body, plus shes grabbing the barre like theres no tomorrow, just "graciously" lay your hand!!! .... not to mention those toes that keep going up, the bad position of arms, hands, back, head........... she also bends her knee when she goes back to first

  • i saw a vid an someone said ur not supose to grab the barres, ur supose to lay ur hnd on it slightly cause ur not going to hold it whle ur really dancing

  • expert haha, it is rond de jambe, not rand de jambre

  • hmm....the girl needs her wait more over her toes...they kept comin off the floor

i probably do the same though lol

  • itd be better is the girl joleen wasnt wearing long pants so we could see her ankles. i get yelled at for wearing pants in dance

  • Oh my god, I can't watch anymore of these, i tried a few to give them the benefit of the doubt, but these should be removed. All you other fellow dancers and teachers out there that have made posts are right to be disgusted, not everyone can be perfect of course, but unless your damn good DON'T post 'expert' videos on here! FYI - had a quick look at the schools website - thing that scared me is that this woman is teaching pointe classes too... Yikes

  • one word....WOW!!! .. i cant imagine that!

  • It's actually "rond de jambe" meaning "leg rotation" (Iiterally). And it's pronounced rohnd-duh-jahmb.

    Like what lindseyscottnew said :)

  • Thank goodness someone can spell. These clips are killing me.

  • am i right thinking i am not the only one finding these videos slightly obsessive in a VERY bad way...i am more and more horrified with every video but yet i can't stop watching them

And seriously, if you teach ballet at least get the effing terminology correct!

    Outragoues!

  • My teacher probably makes her do 55 sit-ups!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yall a bunch of haters. if u gon talk shit dont watch it in da first place hatin cuzz yall bitches can dance.

  • That's the point.

When you can dance, you can criticize.

These expertvillage people are full of it.

  • LOLL 'Beautiful Joleen!' in the exact same tone each time

  • it is probably pre-recorded, she only lip syncs it HAHA

  • It seems like she really pinches at the barre^^ ... it even moves XD

  • expertvillage can go burn in hell. haha.

  • lol

  • Learning ballet is also learning enough of the French language to know the names of the steps, positions, etc.

Un "rond de jambe" is a "rotation of the leg" ; certainly technical, but not impossible.

A "rand de j'ambre" is a "rand of I amber" ; good luck figuring out how to do that step!

  • Keep your leg straight when you come into first and dont move your hip as much.

We ballerinas like to keep our standard as high as possible. We are merely using constructive criticism. We strive for perfection but settle for excellence...

  • the only thing i saw was that she bends everytime she came into first. if she had been straight that would have been perfect.

  • the student is moving her hips slightly&needs to turn out her supporting leg and focus on leading with the heel.

  • it's not that we're all anorexic perfect prima ballerinas. not at all, it's just that we don't think they are good enough to be teaching ballet, because they aren't doing it technically correctly.

  • Exactly. I agree. It's not that people are trying to say they're better than another, but if someone is going to TEACH, then they should do so correctly--not only to be technically correct, but to ensure the safety of the dancers and their bodies.

  • basically i didn't find anything right in that video.

  • I like that she uses a real student, who is really trying to hit each incremental position. Neither the instruction or the execurtion are bad... we're just not seeing the perfect form, yet. Rather than criticizing, all you girls should take what you see as "wrong" and use these energies to correct yourselves at the barre. I applaud the courage and intent of each and every person who posts here.

  • The woman is actually not a student, I believe, but one of the "expert instructors", as she's said in other videos. I could very well be mistaken, however. I just feel that on "expert" village, people really come to see the EXPERT. As someone new to ballet, I want to really learn it CORRECTLY so I can strive to do the very best I can. Having an image in your head to strive for can be extremely helpful when trying to progress. However, I do understand your perspective & think it's kind of you.

  • Wow, all these comments really just show how hard ballerina's are on themselves/others. But I guess it is neccessary to get to their level of excellence.

  • OMG why doesnt her academy just shut down.. she is giving poor technique and then passing it on to the kids through crappy teachers.. no wonder she has so many problems

  • she's moving her hips!!

  • omg there are 30 g too much ... really she is fat!!!!

    better fat than silly

  • Instead of saying mean things about this 2 women... why don't you write a mail to expert village and tell THEM to get real experts??

  • Totally agree with you.

Or perhaps all of you people saying mean things should make a video and upload it.. cause all of you're a PROs, right?

  • when she goes to the back, her hips twist. your hips are supposed to be kept straight.whenever she comes out of the step, she always adjusts her standing leg.bad!she doesnt have any balance or grace. she should stop ballet now!

  • i agree with you about her mistake but i disagree about telling her to stop ballet.

  • Agreed. Instead, she should strive to better herself...and she should DEFINITELY strive to better herself before posting it on the inernet under expertvillage. It will just give expertvillage a bad reputation when people come to see the expert and don't see that.

  • holy cow that was really nasty...i mean...i learned rond de jambe when i was 8. ok, i might also have done it like she did now, but i was EIGHT lol (ok so now im 19 and do rond de jambes en l'air on 120-180°)^^

  • The first position is when your foot soles are making one line. (--) Not that horrible corner (/\) What was it? @_@

  • Her arm is not even right. If you want to learn dancing, go to a real dance class. Don't watch this crap and expect anything because it's not teaching you correct techniques.

  • "expert" village?? Then why is she wearing long black trousers..? To hide that she's not actually doing a "rond de jambe"?? How can you do it properly, if you don't even understand the name of the step!

  • Ya, have to agree. At least write the name out correctly. they are actual words with meaning, I should know, I'm French! Rond: circle, jambe: leg, a terre: on earth

  • oh dear dear dear..... I wonder if this 'teacher' could explain the physical and technical requirements of this step??

  • shes bad

  • omgg. i thinkk this woman is like in love with her studentt.

  • rand de jambre?

  • shes not even trying to turn out!

i dont think this video is a very helpful one!

  • yeah, isnt it" rond de jambe a terre"(ron-de-jom-ar-tear)?

  • I don't need to sound too snobby, but if you are going to be cosidered an expert, please spell the terms correctly.

  • hehe. my teacher was a stickler for good spelling of the terms.
