If I remember correctly, ND Band played "Take on Me" in the stands in the second half and played it a better arrangement at a faster, more correct speed.
Wow....well I have to stop watching this video. It is too boring. Everyone knows ND band is the absolute best in the country. I am sure that USC has had it's moments too, but Notre Dame blew them away! (And by using last year's material...)
Clearly, this only applies to the Bands. In the case of the football teams it is quite the opposite, sadly.
@aSpringstead You don't have much credibility when you make statements without merit and are based entirely on opinion and bias. To say "everyone knows ND has the best band in the country" is just a flat out lie. I don't think that, & I really don't know anyone (other than you) that do. I prefer SC's band - hands down. The Trojan band is bigger, better, more modern and supportive of a more successful football program. Trips to SB since '73 entered as Exibit A. UM fans would challenge you as well
Very true, but you'll forgive me for pointing out that you were the first one to say (and I quote): "Your comment is bad and you should feel bad." I mean, come on, dude. Not only is hate flying from you, but it's to your own students. That's just mean.
This could be the dumbest display I've ever seen. We're going to show Notre Dame what they've missed the last 35 years? Apparently they missed low class, music that doesn't fit together, and fans that liked Notre Dame's band better than their own...

And BTW there's nothing more stupid than reading about band nerds fighting over their respective band's routines. No one cares, and no you're not famous.
@bvtrumpeter Yes, they are! And unlike some biased Irish posters, I can admit it. We were thrilled in '08 when ND finally brought its full marching band to LA for the SC game. Irish fans have been watching the Trojan band in SB since 1973. The SC rally @ Chicago's Navy Pier is an odd year tradition. SC fans applauded the ND band (something we never do for opponent bands, especially Cal/UCLA). Then, the SC band/Trojan fans celebrated another trouncing of the Irish on the football field. Fight on!
I was there. I'm a USC student and I have to say Notre Dame's band kicked our ass. I mean really bad. Dude, they freakin transformed into a moving car with exhaust..who does that?!

I was there, too. Good thing for us, because we don't need tacky effects to make our performance look better. :) And unlike them, we marched most of the time instead of stand there and play and spell out lame things during halftime. If it only takes tacky effects to make you think one band is better than another, you seriously have your priorities screwed up
As a member of the Band of the Fighting Irish, I would like to simply inform you that we do march the entire show. I'm sorry you did not enjoy our performance, but there are many people who did. I am sure both bands worked very hard in order to perfect a show that would entertain the audience.
Well, they do halt on occasion, but I saw a hell of a lot more halting from USC's band.
Also, as a ska fan I do have to criticize the Bosstones arrangement... since when should flutes lead in a ska tune?
Then again, I was behind the band, so it might just be that I didn't hear the brass... though I have to say, if that was the case I'm highly disappointed in the brass section for not being louder. As a brass player myself, I know it's our job to drown out the rest of the band. :-)
That's probably the case. I couldn't hear anything but piccolos in the Notre Dame band when they were playing facing the visitor side, I wouldn't expect different for our show.
Is it just me or does Hammerhead need to be faster or... something. It didnt seem to drive enough

"Tonight we present what the Irish band missed..." Wow, how classy. I'm really feeling the sportsmanlike spirit here, SC.
:P Seriously, though. When it comes to class, USC appears to have none. Plus this show is super-boring.

Ok, I'm for stopping all the hate flying back and forth. Each band has their styles and preferences.

Maybe that was it, then.
Tune was still awfully slow, though. And hardly any articulation in the brass, though maybe that's the video quality? I dunno.
