Thank you, should Mr. Tracy view this perhaps he'd say ah yes. She is spectacular, and a fine, fine, refined actor. thanks.
such beauty, elegance and style will not be seen again but we are so lucky to have had a beauty as divine as gene tierney. she is such a beauty that even when watching "leave her to heaven", i caught myself saying "i may still have stayed with her".
@BulldogBuddy I felt the very same, even found myself trying to explain away the evil doings Ellen was a perpertrating, such was Gene's ability to play any role.
E a lua. E todos astros do universo.
Obrigada Senhor, por Gene Tierney ter passado por este mundo. E ter sido imortalizada nessas fotografias.
I cant get into the story of Leave Her To Heaven, because I find myself in awe by the color and quality of the film. I remain focused on Gene and her eyes. God, she was simply beutiful. Very unfortunate what happened to her.
There is something about Gene Tierney that is unforgettable. It's more than her beauty; it is a quality that shone through regardless of her roles. There is a deeper compassion for her now knowing her struggles with mental health (she was courageous to speak about that openly). Yet there is still reluctance to respect her professionally. She grew to be subtle & convincing actress who gave fine, consistent performances. She truly defines a "star".
You are so right and your words express my feelings, so apt in there description and understanding I agree with benny2 a tribute worthy of Gene the true Queen of the silver screen.
Thanks for your reply! I don't want to make the mistake of dismissing a modern actress as Gene was (as if she were too beautiful to have talent). To be honest, I don't know newer films well & haven't seen enough to judge someone like Angelina Jolie.
But time is often the best judge. Gene is more than good; she is fine. One day we'll look back at today's stars and be able to see with clearer sight as well. I think the key is to try to shut out prejudices - esp from the "experts"!
It's not that I don't like Angelina Jolie,I think she is quite beautiful(altough at times I found her scary)but not like Gene.I am fourteen and I do watch newer films.
It is comforting to me that a younger person such as yourself appreciates stars like Gene Tierney. I was the same way when I was your age. Other kids didn't really know or feel attached to these actors.
How wonderful that you are carrying on the love of classic films and the stars who helped make them unforgettable. I applaud YOU!!
Well thank you very much.Personally my favorite actress and idol since I saw Breakfast at Tiffany's at six is Audrey Hepburn.I only heard of Laura last year and I still wonder how come I never heard of Gene Tierney before.Who is yours?
Audrey is mine as well!! Roman Holiday & Breakfast at Tiffany's are two of my most loved. I didn't fully discover her until i was a teenager.
But I discovered Gene when I was about 5 or 6 (an interesting parallel to you & Audrey Hepburn) when my Mom watched the Ghost & Mrs. Muir with me and my sister.
Gene did not remain a "star" the way that Audrey, Judy Garland, Bette Davis & Katharine Hepburn did. Her films - except for Laura and Mrs Muir - didn't stay in front of the public's eye. Also, the (unfair) critique of her being cast only because of her looks did not help. There's not as much room to reply here, so I've split my response into two!
I still can't help buut think it's unfair. She wasn't less talented or beautiful than Marilyn Monroe(I love Marilyn but I think she is overated).Joan Crawford didn't make many Classic film like others but she is still well rememberd now.(granted Mommy Dearest may have played a part in it). Also did you see her in in Leave her to Heaven. Her beauty in this film has never been as shoking but she managed to not let it outshine her performance.
@crooner62 I have to say you comment about Gene was so true, Gene is the truth no one wants to hear, the unsung, hero of courage, in a time when image was everything, a truly great actress. I often wonder, though it is useless I know, at what Gene would have achieved had illness not visited upon a career that was building and shaping so wonderfully.Gene had what they call ''stage presence'' a natural gift even in forgetable movies Gene was unforgetable...
Yes, Genes Tierneys ancestors on Genes paternal side are from the north west coast of my homeland,as are many Americians. Sadly my homland has forever given up its independance as of the 4/5/09 to europe, wish we could be the 51st. state of the United States instead,What a great nation the U.S of A. is... european union is soon to be a failed project and become about as democratic as the former Soviet Union was.
There may well be a song, but I only know this as an instrumental, written for the Italian film 'Per Amore' by the Grande Maestro, as Quincy Jones calls Ennio Morricone.
A CD has recently been issued: it's a bit repetitive, but if you love this piece you may want to go for it. Also includes piano pieces by Chopin played by Luis Enriquez Bacalov.

Apart from being the most beautiful woman I have ever seen,Gene Eliza Tierney was a brilliant
actress who gave subtle and honest performances. She never indulged in needless histrionics
to impress us.Personally, she fought for life with courage that was an example for everyone.
God,I miss seeing women like her in the film industry of today.
