OMG I've been looking for this for friggin ever! The count hypnotizes(or whatever), doesn't let them stop him from counting, and has a (not as scary as what I've heard from other videos) scary laugh! Yes I love it, why did they have to change him, he was so perfect!!!
I wonder if this was the only sketch that showed his ability to stun other characters, because lot of the other early episodes of that season don't really have any info.
I haven't laughed so much in a long time, and I could certainly use a laugh these days. This brings back so many memories. Many thanks, BipBippadotta.
the Count was evil back then! there was another skit when he hypnotized Grover to bring him hotdogs, that was really scary skit, the music sounded like a duck call and really fast music.
YEAH! His laugh sounds different this time instead of friendly cos he's into mischief, I guess :P They DO look like Starburst lol, and that's cool that the same voice actor's (correct term in this case?) been doing his voice so long.
id love to see some sesame street sketch where count tries to count cards in the casino and later the wiseguys chop his ear off before he uses his jedi mind tricks and pulls a rusty screwdriver and stabs everybody in the neck and counts bloodgushes...yeah pot is great
The Count was one creepy creep in that skit! A sketch I like about counting blocks is where Herbert Birdsfoot asks Grover to count some blocks, and then some oranges. Grover says, "I know how to count blocks....but I do not know how to count oranges!"
@b3d: This was in the 70's. One didn't have the advantages we have now. But then, things weren't as politically correct, either. So there's an upside and downside.
Does anyone remember when the count was sleeping over at bert and ernie's house? He counted sheep and the thunderstorms made ernie crazy that he ended up sleepwalking with his face looking hynotized!!! Somebody find this and upload it! PLEASE!!!
As soon as this clip started, I noted the blocks and instantly remembered that they used to make me hungry.. I had an uncontrolable urge to find blocks just like them and knaw the living crap out of them.. After reading through the other comments, I see that I wasn't the only one.. The Count really was scary back then.. Makes me wonder if clips like these aren't the reason why I was and still am terrified of thunderstorms.. LOL! Seriously!
I always wondered how the guy who was playing the count puppet was able to manipulate those blocks so well. I guess its just talent! Some one needs to post "the secrets of sesame street"
Ernie is such a pathetic coward...he ALWAYS takes advantage of Bert, and when he gets his from other puppets he turns into a little pussy cat...boo hoo...serves you right Ernie...I always loved Bert much better and thumbs up to the Count for sticking it to him!!!!!!
