  • Jebus. Glad they have people who are not me to do this.

  • All real pilots have basically the same attributes. Intelligence, calmness, guts and hand eye corridiation. All can be trained ; do not compare our wonderful Navy to our wonderful Air Force. Different missions, different training. Both are wonderful. If a Navy pilot goes down, I'll be there. And I know he/she will be there for me! Same goes for general aviation. We are all pilots!

  • @AlMelco What about simulation pilots what do you do if they go down? lol

  • It looks so easy, it is so hard.

  • That's about the prettiest thing I ever seen!!

  • It looks like he's on a heli

  • Wow look how smoot the sea is.

  • At 1:00 u can hear him increase the throttle again incase he bolters

  • @ConnorTaylorBP Well yeah that is actually how carrier pilots land. Sorry for commenting on a comment that was posted 5 months ago. I'm a total nerd and I just saw this video. Anyways, carrier pilots are supposed to land at the very limit of landing speed, because if they landed slowly, the cable would have no effect at all.

  • Show me one Airforce pilot who can land on a carrier. That's all I ask.

  • awesome video! :)

  • Talk about being a good pilot.

  • This was f'kin awesome, my hats off to Navy pilots.

  • Balls of steel heat treated steel for that matter.

  • holy cow

  • by the soun i think is a s-3(turbofan engines)

  • wow...very nice video

  • Wow nice landing

  • that is so cool!

  • Wow even living vicariously makes the heart race. Aviators naval and otherwise have the coolest job!

  • S-3 or A-6?

  • wow, awesome viewpoint......must of been a Prowler or Viking?

    CL

    USN SN/IT

  • i think this is my favorite aviation video i have seen on youtube

  • fucking perfection aproax and landing. thats the airplane with 4 seat right? idk its name

  • I think it's an S3B or ES3A Viking! I don't believe it to be the EA-6B Prowler!

  • Viking for sure. Bravo Zulu.

  • Pilots always have that "Ima fuck you up" face on :)

  • Damn straight. :)

  • @TwoEyeCyclops Concentration levels must be 100 percent. Though if you are Chuck Norris, you can look like that with 2.5 percent concentration.

  • @TwoEyeCyclops teetering at the edge of life and death just sort of has that effect on people, what can I say?

  • S-3 without doubt

  • yup. this is a S-3 viking.

  • Haha that's no A-6, nor is it an EA-6B. That is the sound of the HOOVER! S3-B Viking. Tanker and Sub chaser. Ahh I miss those good old days.

    Bingo!

  • S-3B just a slight correction. :)

  • can someoone tell me why the carrier have to be like that, doesent it just make the runway shorter?? i saw a documentary on dscovery channel about that but i forgot

  • If the landing deck was aligned directly to the front the carrier would lose its simultaneous launch and landing operation ability. For instance, imagine a plane does not hit the cable during landing. Naturally it will have to go around - thus using the complete deck to take-off again. If there were Planes in the front part of the deck the landing vessel would collide with these.

  • It was only a viking that he landed. now landing a COD is quite a bit harder, but props (pardon the pun, lol) to all naval aviators.

  • Wow. It makes struggling to land a cessna 152 in several thousand feet very embarresing. Stunning.

  • lol.... just more practice my friend.... I remember my first landing on a Piper Cherokee... not that great..lol

  • wow the ocean was soo calm

  • what plane was this?

  • I'm not sure but I think it's an a-6 intruder(they've been retired for 12 years though) or an AE-6B Prowler, the more current version of the A-6.

  • its an A-6

  • cool. i could tell be the shape of the cockpit but I really wasn't sure how old it was

  • I was staioned on the Kitty Hawk whenn this was done. I think 2000 maybe, it's from VS-21 Vikings, a damn nice Viking sqaudron. Almost split my head open crawling in, really gotta watch that celing :p

  • It's a S-3 Viking. I served aboard the USS Constellation and as anyone with aircraft carrier duty can tell, the sounds of the engines is the first clue. Second is the cockpit bubble is a dual seater.

    Nice landing too.

  • wow

  • Hey hairyfella, good call on either a Viking or a Hawkeye. Prolly a Viking from the sound of external GE turbofans.

  • My friend who is a pilot and has landed on a carrier described it as a 'controlled crash'

  • HOLY MOLEY!! that was amazing... how fast did he make a complete stop?! thats just awesome stuff there

  • DUDE ANYBODY WITH ANY KNOWLEDGE OF CARRIER OR NAVAL AVIATION KNOWS ABOUT ARRESTER CABLES- search it

  • Nice landing!

  • The pilot made that look way too easy, when in fact I'm sure it's a very difficult thing to do..

  • It's WAY harder than landing on a regular runway.

  • Awesome... From a grandmother grateful for our military.

  • wow, that was fucking cool! Maybe a phantom?

  • it coudn't have been a phantom. in a phantom, the pilot/copilot sit one behind the other(not next to each other) o<

  • I could of sworn they sat next to each other... Are you sure?

  • yeah. my cousin flew them in vietnam and has some awsome cockpit photos of the guy sitting in front of him. its more likely a RADAR hawkeye. but yeah, im positive. and besides, they only use phantoms for target practice nowadays. :P

  • no they didn't, google it!

  • It's an S-3

  • Beautiful! What aircraft was that? An Intuder? Viking? Hawkeye?
