  • I see BMI retained their old British Midland livery for this plane!

  • Man , you are one SMOOTH shooter!!!!! It's shots like this that were truely what the internet was invented for!!!!! Worth getting cold feet and (cold evertything else) for!!!

  • Hope the passengers are going somewhere warm!

  • Looks like it had a snow ball fight with a BA A321!

  • looks like the de-ice crew were still in bed huh.

  • ice can be clearly seen

  • Was it in the morning or afternoon?

  • love your camera work dude

  • Any know why this aircraft is still in the old British Midland livery? They rebranded what, 2002-3?

  • Sure did eat up a lot of runway for an A321

  • @KSharp320 might have been due to the ice might have taken off slower

  • @jimmyg34567 It was just frost buildup, and it has no effect on takeoff (only if it adheres to critical surfaces, but they wouldn't take off it it was). It was probably a reduced power take-off. Usually the FMS computes engine power settings for takeoff with respect to temp, winds, pressure and weight etc. I love this BMI paint job. I miss it!

  • great video! seems surreal!

  • how is there no fence in the way?

btw. really nice video = ) Love it!

  • Awesome

  • If there any air canada's there can you record one

  • i just love watching plans take off and landing . lol

  • does it leave planes every minute? and its coming planes every minute?

  • Now thats dedication even in -5 u doing some planespotting!!True fan great video simon!

  • What tripod do you use??

  • it doesnt look de-iced

  • started shivering after watching this hehe.

  • To me this is the most beautiful video you've made! Fantastic winter vibes goin on there! :) If you think -5 degrees is cold, you should come here to norway, and OSL. during winter (and late dec and all of jan) we got like -20, moisty and windy. THAT'S cold ;)

  • Do you have video of a SAS A321. I know they use it sometimes on the Manchester-Copenhagen route .

  • Do the jet engines work better in the colder air?? iv always wanted to know that!! Thanks!!!

  • @Goair18 yes jet engines do work better when its cold. Cold air is more dense so there is more of it in the same area. Even a car engine works better with cold air.

  • Personally, I preferred that BMI livery. Wish they could have kept at least 1. Great vid m8! Must have been perrishing! =-S

  • Ah. I love it when I go to the aviation park on a cold day at about 9:00AM. It's frosty, it's misty and the sun is trying to slip through the orange sky. I never miss the chance to get a sausage butty to warm me up!

Keep the fantastic videos coming, Simon!

  • i love the A321

  • i love the A321

  • Where is this spot Simon? im planning a spotting trip to Manchester providing this spot you can get to without a car!

  • noisy dirty smelly stink nazi scum kill kill kill earth

  • umm arent they supposed to de-ice the plane....?

  • nice work

  • Im not a big fan of the A321 because it has a delay when you move the stick; on Flight Simulator that is. Nice video.

  • our bmi flight was delayed once bcause they ran out of d-icer But oh well they have immense service :)

  • You must have been bloody freezing when you filmed this!!!! Great vid

  • you think thats cold i went spotting at cyzf once in january never again it was -47with the wind chill

  • Hmmm, nice vid....altho, I am just hoping they did a better job at de-icing the flying surfaces than they did on the fuselage....apparently they did since the plane took off.....

  • Love BMI's old colours!

  • same! i think they keep the old colours on this a321

  • @TheAviationWolf , lovely, idd.

  • Beautiful... and great dedication! Thank you for braving the elements and sharing :)

  • great vid mate but i was wondering if you would capture a jet2 757 and 737 next time you go as i love them in the jet2 livery

    thanks mate

    Andy.

  • Love that sound! Great job! 5*

  • Just wondering if you could recorde a FlyBe Embraer 195?

just thought it will make a good take off video! or landing where they all do a high flear!

    cheers

  • No problem, hopefully there will be one to film next time I'm at the airport.

  • Cheers Mate

    That will be grate!

Ohh and 5* to all the videos you do the AMAZING!

  • wow the a321 uses as much runway as most widebodys...... abseloutely stunning qualty and just awesome :D thanks

  • stunning

  • What camera did you used to record this movie?

  • Canon XH-A1. Regards, Simon.

  • been on this plane from gran canaria to gatwick a few years ago,

seen it at gatwick a few months ago still not had the new bmi colours

  • WOW! I like your style,I sub! Very nice.

  • i have been on this aircraft from gatwick to paphos :)

  • a boeing wouldnt have that much ice on it =)

  • Remarkable quality video!

  • nice vid

  • manchester such good spotting places unlike shity heathrow!:@

  • The renisance Hotel, is the best spotting hotel at heathrow, if you ask for the plane spotters package, you get a room with 27L and 27R, two channels showing arrivals and departures and live ATC on your radio.

  • Wow excellent video. I've flown on this exact aircraft in January. From man to lhr. Excellent trip with BMI!

  • I bet that was very cold, very nicely filmed and as said one of the best quality video's that I have seen on YouTube. :)

  • Thanks for braving the elements to shoot this video---5*!

  • W

    O

    W

    ^^^^^^ All i can say

  • one of the most beautiful video's I have seen in a long time.

The frost, sky colour and atmosphere is so picture-ss.

  • wow that looks beautiful with the sky and the frost......amazing

  • I hope that plane got a de-icing before take off!

  • The roof is not a controllable surface so there is no need to clean it.

  • i was thinking the same thing my friend.

  • Simon your videos are always great, now even better in HD

  • Professional video, perfect!

  • wat time was this ?????

  • another excellent vid

  • that's just stunning. Seriously, why haven't you put your videos on DVD's and sold them en masse yet?

  • Look at that sky! amazing..

btw simon, on your FL350 video of a Antonov-124.. someone says "hi simon" quite a few times.. do you know who it was? was quite amusing lol..

  • Great quality footage and filming!

  • brrr! cool vid but awful memories of work in winter!!

  • WOOOOOW!

You can actually see the pilots, in clear quality. 5 stars and need more like this.:D

  • Top job.

  • They are IAE engines xkolar.

As for the video, fantastic job Simon! Added to the favourites. You must have been freezing as its cold enough here at the best of times.

As much as I like the newer bmi c/s, I'm glad they have kept a couple of aircraft in the old colours. Shame they never kept the old BM tail logo on this aircraft too.

  • Very nice video! Like the sound of engines on takeoff. Are these CFM or IAE?

  • IAE.

  • Wonderful video!

  • haha, i have a picture of that plane on my phone, eastmidlands?? or somewere else?

  • another great job!!! love your HD camera and sound =P

  • Nice work!

  • I must say, that you are still a stunning videographer. The way you film without the camera shaking and any background noise is superb. The quality of your videos are to the highest and HD just adds to it. Keep on filming.

  • Brilliant job again, Simon. Love the new HD, its like your really there!

  • wow beutiful day... great footage

  • Very nice video !

  • awesome work once again!

  • Looks great! Thanks!

  • Look at the way the runway lights at what I presume to be Manchester - International (Ringway) (MAN EGCC) 'flicker' in the cold. Pretty damn impressive. Thank You Simon.

  • Fantastic job Simon !

  • Fantastic, good job...

  • How cold were you then Simon? LOL =)

Great video mate. I've heard that this and an A320 wont be getting painted into the BMI NC.

  • Why is that, and when will that be? I rather like the current colour scheme tbh..

  • Im not sure. All i've heard is that they were keeping this colour scheme on the aircraft left with it (which is G-MIDC as shown and an A320) It'd be nice to have them in the newer colours

  • It was dam cold, -5C! Thanks!

  • Ouch! :P And i thought it was cold last time i went lol.

    Looking forward videos :)
