  • Keith Whitley is my absolute favorite contry music singer. i remember when my stepdad and i used to jam his tapes in the truck

  • thank you keith. god bless you

  • this song can up on sirius sat. radio and its been stuck in my head for several days, thanks for sharing R.I.P. keith

  • This is a great video. I love Keith Whitley's beautiful voice.

  • One Of My All Time Favorite Keith Songs. What Great Lyrics and Delivery On A True Account of Love Gone Wrong. One of the best country voices of our time. What a great loss for us. Thanks for posting.

Check out my version on You Tube at MosesRangelMusic

  • At 2:42 to 2:46 = absolutely beautiful... Great video. He's looking over your shoulders just like an angel

  • Best Keith Whitley song... one of the best songs of all time... period.

  • i'm not over you beautifal ladies in my life

  • I Do Wonder, Where He would be today it is a shame he went so soon. But my Grand father always said, every hair on your head is numbered. i hate losing my hair now

  • @pappawheelie09 RADIO WOULD HAVE HIM SEARCHING FOR FOOD IN THEIR DUMSTER

  • I wish he was still around, he made some great music and would have went very far! I remember my mother crying when I was just a child over his death. Such an amazing song and amazing man!!!

  • wow he died a day after i was born..

  • @precious memory. im sorry honey i may have got u mixed up. someone posted that keith didnt write this song, i saw it on here yesterday. and @retiredtruckers keith and lorrie never split up until keith was dead. his house is actually on the market in nashville for sale right now. this song has absolutely nothing to do with lorrie morgan. he didnt even know her then, its about his ex wife (according to his sister)

  • @1980kyboy ....It sounds as if I got some bad info....Thanks for clearing that up...Anyway, Keith had a bright future for himself & he was getting more popular everyday day back then...I hate that he was cut down in the prime of his life...I always loved his music.

  • okay my comment goes directly to precious memory. im a VERY close friend of the Whitley family. As a matter of fact 20 minutes ago his sister was just over here and keith whitley DID WRITE THIS song sitting on her back porch. and @cerealboxkilla he was down over his first wife leaving him, had nothing to do with lorrie morgan guys. Stop posting lies!!!!!!

  • @1980kyboy I did not say that Keith did or did not write this song or even that it was about Lorrie, one would assume at the time it came out, that it was about Lorrie. I used pictures of Keith and Lorrie because I love both of them as artists and it was my interpretation (as could be anyone's) that it was about Lorrie, Thanks for commenting :-)

  • @1980kyboy

Keith Whitley did NOT write "I'm Over You," despite what his relatives may be telling you. "I'm Over You" is well-known to be written by Tim Nichols and Zack Turner.

  • @1980kyboy why spread ur bs, i am a whitley fan but everyone who knows country music knows that this was wrote by tim nichols and zach turner.....keith sang it better than anyone ever could , however he did not write it ...show us a web link that credits him as the writer??? believe me ... obviously i know whitley better than u supposedly know his sister, why are u posting lies??? prove me wrong and i will apologize but it the meantime u need to tell (preciousmemory784) that u r sorry

  • @1980kyboy I do not think you have anything to worry about. Keith is a LEGEND here in alabama, and his song aired in alabama 11/28/11 and he rated in my book better than any country singer in todays world. I think his music talks for itself, even if he didn't wright it, he can damn sure sing it! Thats all that really matters!

  • awsome video bro , keith whitley does it like no other.

  • 8 people don't know what real country music is

  • I love this song, and I make up my own interpretation of the song. Maybe the writer is actually over the person, or maybe he's not, either way I love it...

  • Keith was no stranger to the rain and when he met lorrie at Homecoming 63 it was love ten feet away. He finally found somebody that was doing him right and he said tell lorrie i love her. Keith told lorrie i have some bad news the Lord has summoned your Kentucky Bluebird home. Lorrie asked Keith why and he said Its all coming back to me now, I must go and share with others in heaven this brotherly love and take my rest but remember i will never be over you.

  • i miss you keith, i cant even imagine how many number 1 hits youd have if you havnt left, but i know your happy siging in heaven now, you were the reason i switched to country music, back in 1988.

  • It is obvious to me that Keith was totally devastated when he & Lorrie split, you can hear the pain in his voice.

  • Why they makin them stories up when I'm over you :(

  • I'm over you will be one of the best country music songs of all time in my opinion. MY father was an alcoholic who succombed to the same fate, and would listen to this over and over, I truly believe Lori was his as my mother was my daddy's true love of their life. Sad love story that ended too soon

  • Honestly, i think that he was just tryin to convince himslef that he was over her.. when sadly he wasnt.. my dads frend is drinking himself to death.. and he is doin dope so that isnt helping any.. i just hate to see it happen..

  • Real country.

  • Good song!

  • Dang,this guy was a good singer.

  • This song is exactly how I feel, when an pass boyfriend calls me, to inform me, that he knows I miss him. Also that he knows I am going crazy with out him, please. I AM OVER YOU!

  • i like to listen to this every time i think about getting sad over my POS ex ;)

  • awsome

  • this is the most gayest song ever an i dont like contry

  • He knows she's gone forever... but rather than admit that her absence is killing him inside, he takes the sarcastic route instead; insisting that he's perfectly fine, despite the excessive drinking and the painfully obvious signs that those closest to him are noticing, telling that all is not well.. I have a feeling he suspected that his days were in short supply when he recorded this song.

  • @ltcgfan he had a problem FOOL! And by the way were you there in his life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lmouille Apparently, he wasn't the only one with a problem... you mistook my interpretation of the song for actual events, of which I have little or no knowledge, claimed or implied.

But thanks for pointing out the obvious, ''he had a problem", as if it were front page news, moron.

  • awsome

  • He was never over Lorie even tho he said he was over her. That why he drank himself to death. He loved her to death to part and drinking took his life :-(Sad story

  • Remember the old days of crying in your beer songs? He is definitely NOT over her. Amazing how music can pick you up, take you down, or just get you through a rough patch.

  • Even though I was just a kid in the 80's, I always loved to hear Keith on the radio and see him on CMT. His voice was the one that stuck out the most back then, and I can't think of another artist, past or present in country music, who compares to Keith Whitley.

  • My Favorite Kieth song!

  • This & the one called "Would these arms be in your way?'' are by far in my opinion the best he ever did & thats saying alot considering all his songs were amazing

  • this is a god damn Power ballad. get a little whiskey bent to it

  • drinking will couse alot of dumb thoughts trusted me. i tried to kill myself one night drunk. but lucky someone was there to save me. RIP Keith.

  • Rest in Peace............you passed on my birthday.

    XX

  • Just realized that Keith is not in the Country music hall of fame, what kind of joke has the hall of fame become? If he doesn't deserve to be in there than they dont deserve to have my business.

  • my daddy could sing your music like no other missin him today.. love ya daddy rip ronnie hager sr.. 4ever missin you ..your baby girl lorie!!

  • my daddy could sing your music like no other missin him today.. love ya daddy rip ronnie hager sr.. 4ever missin you ..your baby girl lorie!!

  • @lhouston2010 hope u r ok...understand how you feel, lost my dad due to alcoholism, he died in the same way Keith died. Life is tough without our dad. We never know just how special they are until we lose them.

  • this and dwight yoakams 'your the one' are the best songs to listen to when your going to a hearbreak.

  • @1hogfan83 You are correct, these are some great songs. "im over you" definately is one of the best, also "id be better off in a pine box" by doug stone, "i miss you a little" john M mcgometry............we wont even go into to some of the old songs by Jones, haggard, hank jr.....which are truly the best.

  • god i loveeeee this song out all the girls i been with my sons mother and i had a son and he died 2 weeks before the due date on Dec.23 2008 and we split up a year after that and istarted drinking after and i listend to keiths music and yea u can just no what happend but im doing better getting over it but love keiths music RIP

  • Incredible voice ,as good as anyone ever in country music. You could hear the pain in his voice and we can relate to that pain. One of the things that made Keith so authentic and real. I truly miss Keith Whitley.....

  • This is exactly how I feel im denying that im over her when really im drinking myself to death

  • SAD TO LOSE HIM SO YOUNG...sad for his children..

  • My favorite Keith Whitley song. RIP

  • Man I love Keiths music rip man.

  • Right hes over her, thats why he killed himself with a whiskey bottle,It wasarund the time of santa cruz Quake 89

  • This piece is like a perfect, polished, cut diamond.

  • Nashville needs to put this man in the HALL OF FAME! Nowwww!

  • if anybody knows roxanne in otttawa ks.tell her tj is over her

  • Somebody bottle the sound of that dippin', soarin' steel......awesome!

  • R.I.P. Keith

  • whats your interpretation of the song? i've read its either he really is over her or that he just says those things but he's really not.....

  • @CerealBoxKilla If you listen close to the song, you will get the message..ignore the music and the voice for a moment and just hear the lyrics. Keith went on a drinking binge when him and Lorie split up. He's singing to her, saying he's over her and doesn't know why people are telling her he's drinking his pain away basically. It's his attempt to convince himself, in my opinion, that he's actually over her and had control over the situation. Sadly he did not and he drank himself to death =(

  • @preciousmemory7484 , Some Men and Women are unable to get over it when they lose a good thing ( LOVE ) .

  • @preciousmemory7484 You do realize he did not write this song right

  • @waycephus623 you do not have to write a song to relate it to something in your life. Most singers will only sing a song if it means something to them. Some writers will write a song with a particular person to sing it in mind. Either way the song fit the time and the singer.

  • @preciousmemory7484 Sorry to tell you but they were not seperated. He had a problem and that is why he is gone. My heart goes out to him and his children. His voice is still the best!

  • @preciousmemory7484 Sorry to tell you but they were not seperated. He had a problem and that is why he is gone. My heart goes out to him and his children. His voice is still the best! This is to all idiots out there. I remember the day he died and cried my eyes out. Too bad no one has made a real tribute to hiim. He was a great man and singer.

  • @preciousmemory7484

    good post

  • @CerealBoxKilla That's a really good question. I think (& kinda know), that he's NOT really over her, like he's in denial and that he is telling her not to beleive all the signs; "where there's a cloud don't mean there's rain- tears in my eyes don't mean there's pain"...he's not over her.

    Thanx,

    kk - Austin, Texas

  • @CerealBoxKilla I think he knows he's not over her but he wants her to think that he is.

  • @CerealBoxKilla

its a classic country music theme. i'm glad you asked. you see, they write songs like these to expose pride. pride is an evil non loving thing. it's also a very common coping mechanism for the common man. think of george strait's ocean front property or or ricky van shelton's somebody lied or brad paisely's me neither...just to name 3 of dozens.

  • @CerealBoxKilla of course he's not :(

  • This boy was born to sing for sure. This is a good whiskey drinking song. Songs like this don't come around much. We love you Keith.

  • this is a grate way to listen to the best music ever

  • He WAS a good country song! And yes, I did mean to say, He was a good country song. He lived his songs and he knew how his story was gonna end.

    R.I.P. Keith.

  • if i could sing like this man.....id be a ladies man for sure..

  • @thecountryboysinger , you still have to have some game to go with voice. The voice helps though.

  • i would have treated him so much better and he would still be alive.

  • @preciousmemory7484 thanks !!! We still have keiths music and we still have his videos. I am going to make a point to go visit Keith when I get to heaven. Maybe by then I will have learned to play and we sit and make beautiful music together.

  • ahhh smashin pure magic

  • Thanks to everyone who has watched, listened and commented this song. Keith Whitley was a great man with a great voice and did the world a favor by sharing himself with us from very early on in his life untill the very end. Thanks again!

  • @preciousmemory7484

That is a great tribute to a man who would have had even more influence on today's country music had he been able to beat this disease. There is no telling how many more chart topping songs he would have had, he was just beginning to take full control of his career. His voice is hard for me to accurately put into words, i guess that rich would be as close as I can get to describing it .Truly one of the best that I have ever heard in country or any other genre of music.

  • Thanks for sharing I been there and done all of it. I am now 62 years old and been dry for 20 years but certainly hit rock bottom in my 40s. Music helped me recover and still keeps me on track. Cheers

  • @EPFANNZ I'm glad to hear you have been dry for 20 yrs, CONGRATULATIONS!! Alcoholism is a disease very hard to overcome. My cousin is a struggling alcoholic but I know one day he will overcome it 100% Thanks for listening and leaving a comment!

  • keith whitley...what can i say...he was and always will be the best...he wrote what was true to him, and ive seen similar situations, and i almost drank myself to death too...he was a great man...i own a farm in his hometown, where his statue stands, and i always take time to stop, honor him, kneel down and say a prayer. God bless ya keith, your in a better place

  • @metalxxman Keith Whitley will always be one of the greatest of names in country music. I'm glad to see you made it through =) Thanks for listening and commenting.

  • Still my Fav Country Music Singer. I love every song , and his heart and voice could be felt in every one of his songs.

  • @sckellum1 I agree Keith Whitley was a great man and a great singer. Thanks for listening and commenting!

  • Come on guys all this Lorrie bashing is unfair ..put yourself in her shoes we don't know what went on behind closed doors ...alcohol abuse is a sickness and Keith started drinking at a very early age sadly thats what took him ..I love Keith Whitley he was the real deal ! such a huge loss to his family and country music may he rest in peace ...

  • @australianfan I agree with you..the private lives of Keith and Lorrie are something no one will ever know or understand except Keith and Lorrie. Lorrie is a good woman, Keith was a good man, sometimes there's nothing to keep the balance and people fall out. Thanks for listening and commenting =)

  • Jackie Keith (accordin' to Wikipedia) hit #3 in Billboard, 5-26-90. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg Thanks for listening and the music facts =)

  • One of his best songs!! Keith is still awesome over 20 years later!! Gives me goosebumps everytime I hear his voice!

  • @jeffernater Thanks for listening Jeff, I agree Keith will always be awesome!

  • aww, I love this song

  • @sarahh2009loved Thanks for listening Sarah =)

  • awww, I love this song, sadly it's too true for me....

  • Man I love this song, even after 20 somethin' years. It still gets to me. It stil makes me feel what I felt when I first heard it back in 1989. God what a terrible waste, Keith Whitley was, without a doubt, the best country and western singer of all time.

  • @unclefixer Never a waste...Uncle...simply an angel taken early in his days..God wanted Keith home with him because he knew his struggle with alcoholism was overtaking him. Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed =)

  • One of the best songs Keith ever sang even though it didn't get a lot of recognition. Tell me didn't sing what was close to his heart. He was truly the best country singer of my generation if not all time.

  • @mikecornell6 you are right Mike, Keith Whitley will be a name remembered forever in the list of great country singers of all time!! Thanks for listening =)

  • Dang, this makes me want a drink! lol

  • how can a man choose between Alcohol and a woman such as Ms Morgan?Such a sad story.I love his songs and the way he sang it.Not many singers who sing from the heart nowadays.I love my wife more and more every day.Thank You my Amy.

  • @TheAzdrifter It's not really a CHOICE Azdrifter...my cousin is a struggling alcoholic and his councelor told the whole family not to blame HIM because it's not HIM doing it, it's the ALCOHOL doing it to him. It's very much a disease and one that's very difficult to overcome. Nice message to your wife :-) I am sure she loves you just as much as you love her!!

  • DUNLOW WEST VIRGINIA

  • my mother tries to reach to me and i recject her hand and i tell my mother and I will not make the same mistakes that her did and I Will not let myself cause my heart so much misery and I will not break the way she did I've learned the hard way, to never let it get that far and Because of her and I'll never stray too far from the sidewalk and Because of her and I learned to play on the safe side and so I don't get hurt an

  • dI find it hard to trust Not only me, but everyone around me and I'm forced to fake, a smile, a laugh and Every day of my life and My heart can't possibly break When it wasn't even whole to start with and I tried my hardest just to forget everything and I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty and all she never thought of anyone else and she tell me the realize she left and she left and she don't my father and he hit her and she was scared and he make do something to if she take me and she lef

  • t me my father and my father is good father and he was Alcoholism after she left me and my father and i tell her that she can't pick she left off and i am grown woman and I have only kids and leave me alone and she go back her other familys she love very muc h and she choice and start again without me

  • @lazygirl0923 Nice song "Because of you" by Kelly Clarkson. Sometimes parents make choices that suit them better in that time period...you have to look from the outside in in most situations and understand that there was something going on and your mother felt it was better just to walk away. I know very well how you feel because my mother walked away from me when I was one month old..along with my four older siblings. Luckily we had family who cared and took us in and raised as us their own.

  • @lazygirl0923 Just don't let it define who you are, who you have been and who you will become...because it is not any of those things..it is who she was, who she is and who she will become. My best advice is to Forgive but don't forget..becus u never will forget. Good luck to you in all you do =) Thanks for listening.

  • a women can do crazy things to a man god bless you keith and rest in peace brother your music and memory are very much still alive 20 years later as ae the lessons your life left behind

  • @mike14td he had the choice to take the family or the bottle.Sad story but his songs live forever.Nobody delievered a song like he did.We are blessed that we had him for awhile.Take care.

  • @mike14td Guys can do crazy things to women too haha. Thanks for listening Mike! God Bless.

  • truely a one of a kind voice more talent in one finger than most of the new age country singers have in their whole bodys....RIP-keith

  • @1974bluezback I have to say I think Carrie Underwood is the greatest thing that's come to the Country scene since Keith Whitley and Garth Brooks (Don't like Garth but like his music).. Thanks for commenting and listening :-)

  • i lost my father of alcholism and my mom left me and my father i was very young and he drink to death over her and i blame my mom my father death and if she didn't left me and my father and i can't forgive my mother leave me and my father

  • @lazygirl0923 none of my business , but if you can find a way to forgive, you will feel a whole lot better , you can forgive ...take care

  • @heatmanable I agree with you, forgiveness is the key to happiness. Forgive but will never forget.

  • just wondering and was never really clear how he died didnt mean to offend if I did, a little confused about who or what the comments are that got erased about and if where when and why it is wrong to inquire about the nature of his death. He should still be here with us, thats a shame he drank himself to death.

  • @shelzcali I haven't removed any comments, so if they were removed they were removed by the author. I am fully aware that when someone uploads a video..it will receive both good and bad comments and I will leave them for all to see the opinions of others..unless it's completely vulgar. Keith died due to Alcoholism, many blame Lorrie leaving as his reason for becoming an alcoholic...and that may be the case, but it's something no one will ever really know. Perhaps he was an avid drinker before..

  • I had a problem with somebody on here and left some pretty nasty messages on here that i had to erase. But come on everybody lets perserve this mans legacy, memory and his music. I dont want to leave nasty ass message for people on here that is not what this is about. He was a great singer, performer, individual and a genuine friend to so many. Lets uplift his music and cherish the one thing he loved in this world besides his family and that is his music. Positive comments and accurate info

  • To set the record straight and not to sound like some kind of assh#@le but he died tragically from an alcohol overdose that took him from all of us. He was a hell of a singer and a great guy to meet and hang around with. I battled alcoholism as most of u know already on some of his other videos that have been downloaded on youtube. But i beat my addiciton and 10yrs clean now. But his demons was to great for him to overcome but that dont take away from his talent or his character. Thank you

  • @lno71 Thank you Ino..I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I agree, it's a tragic ending to a beautiful life...no matter the "cause" of it...that;s something no one will ever be able to know or understand. I am glad you overcame the same disease that took Keith Whitley to Heaven..he will never be forgotten!

  • didnt keith die from a overdose of heroin?

  • @hell nbo

    shelzcali

  • @shelzcali That's like saying Elvis Presley died of an overdose...but he didn't, he died of Cardiac Arrythmia (Heart attack)..Keith Whitley died from Alcoholism, a disease very difficult for ANYONE to overcome.

  • gee nobody sings country like this anymore, miss the old country

  • @blackfoot1976 I was born in 1984 but I prefer the old country..Keith Whitley, George Strait, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, etc..

  • I think a thank you is in order for his band MIAMI. You guys are often forget about but the music that u guys played for Keith nite in and nite out was truly amazing and i wish the best for u wherever u guys might be. You guys ROCK!!!!!!! To the baddest band to ever play instruments in any genre of music...MIAMI. Thank u guys again and God bless u always.

  • @lno71

    No doubt! Props to MIAMI.

  • I was planting barley the morning I heard he passed sittin on the tractor listening to the radio, I will never forget.....

  • @fishnrodds1 That's the impact one single person can have on the lives of so many other people. Thanks for listening and commenting =)

  • God Damn John Barleycorn. A monkey that's a bitch to try & get off your back. A very terrible thing to be saddled with. It's like a bad back. You can't realize how terrible it is until you experience it. It can be hell, here on earth. RIP Kieth. You still are the man!! God bless all here who are fighting this monster.

  • @huntingun1 Thank you Huntin - you're right, it's something very difficult to overcome and I give props and applause to any and all who have battled it and won!!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!

  • @cmcfaulconer TY Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Miss him so much.

  • @bjbucher The world and Country music miss him as well!! Thanks for listening BJ

  • @preciousmemory7484 I thank u for the comments and encouragement and its hard but been sober 4 10yrs. Its a struggle everyday of my life, u would think that being sober for that long it would be easy but it is not. I started drinking when i was 18, fresh out of high school. To any one who reads this i been through hell and back with that disease and it has robbed me of everything that i ever loved in this world but now i am back on top but there is help out there and dont be afraid to use it

  • @lno71 Way to go! I am a pschotherapist and I have helped many folks with various problems; I have to admit that alcoholism is the hardest thing to treat I've dealt with. It is so frustrating for everyone involved. I have found that getting the entire family/friend group into therapy or 12 step group helps keep the person supported on those days you don't think you can make it. Again, Iso71, I salute you for your success!

  • @lno71 Alcoholism is that disease that the slightest taste of it can pull you back. The urge to drink is so strong and takes so much will power to overcome the urge and I congratulate you and applaud you for every single day you have overcome it and every day you will overcome it. Great job, I don't know you but I am happy to say I am proud of you! Keep doing as you do and keep doing you!!

  • You made an AWESOME video to go with a great song by a great man!

  • @bigred630 TY bigred glad you enjoyed it. I love making videos via pictures set to songs. =) Great song and great man for sure.

  • @bigred630 TY Bigred! I am glad you liked the video. I plan on putting together a few more to some more of keith's old tunes and other great country folk. Glad you like it..thanks for commenting!

  • God bless the man,no matter what demons he faced. Alcohlism is a tough motherfucker, believe it! I been there.

  • @huntingun1 alcoholism affects many more people in the world than one is aware of...my cousin is a victim of alcoholism, it's tough for sure. thanks for listening and commenting. =)

  • @huntingun1 me to
