The greatest band / artproject in the world. Ever. Lucky enough to see them in Philly in the early 90s and this summer ('06). Unfortuantely, (ironically), I didn't get a chance to see them when I was living / teaching in Japan (from 2002-2003). Weird, right? You'd figure they'd be a readily available musikal-unit in their own country. Not so! I get the feeling they are more popular outside of Japan.
I wouldn't doubt that you're wrong, actually. Japan in recent years has really embraced the noise/experimental genre. More so than the USA, I could imagine.
But hey, you could be right! And I'm jealous that you've been able to see them.

i was there!!! that was the sickest show i ever seen in my life.. right up front behind p-we female drummer i got one of her broken drum stix..
