I really enjoyed Audition. I at first read the book by Ryu Murakami. After i read it i was really shocked. I wanted to watch the movie, At first i though maybe its just another book thats gettin remade as an movie. I always hate those movies. Audition gave me the same feeling as the book. IT shocked me . Big thumbs up for Takashi Miike
I watched this film because of all the buzz surrounding it, but I honestly didn't find it as gruesome as everyone says it was. So I'm left to wonder whether there's some kind of gorey, uncensored version out there. The only gorey thing in the film was the guy actually having his foot chopped off and thrown at the window. The rest wasn't even shown on camera. Did I watch a cut version or something? >_<
@Saiyaswordsman89 You may have. Because there's scenes where she acupuncture his eyes and vomits in a bowl and then forces him to eat it. It's not certain if you did or not, but I know there's more then the foot scene in the version I watched.
@Saiyaswordsman89 Yea me too, although I think I read up on this movie too much because of all the hype surrounding it. It's not as scary as I thought it woulda been, but it's most definably a good movie and it is disturbing.

i expected more when i watched it :/ only when she worked on the eyeballs, i had to look away, but from what all these people have to tell about how "horrible" it is, i feel a bit dissapointed :( but it was a very good movie still :-)
Another Japanese movie 'Gozu' is also same like this one....both Great movies....if you like sick/gore/violent scenes..then how about 2010 best movies in my latest video..lol..
I was actually trying to cover my eyes watching this movie, and I have never seen a horror movie that made me even remotely uncomfortable...until this one.
I agree with Eli Roth. Asian horror is the only true horror made today. There are a couple execptions put asian horror films are the Alien, Jaws, Exorcist, and Halloween of today.
god damn americans can't even understand the depth of j-horror... just listen to Eli Roth degrading the storyline to psycho girls he has dated... I hope audition never gets remade in Hollywood
@BornToDie90 i could just as easily sit here and say god damn asians learn how to use special effects and CGI.. but im not dumb like some people to judge a whole country based on someones words. You really have no idea what its like in america when it comes to movies and why they come out the way they do. trust me when i say its not an "american" issue, its some dumb greedy guy issue. Fuckin douche bag its cause of people like you why youtube is going to hell...
@TekkenPlayer4Life it seems to me that the douche-bag is you, being aggressive for no reason as if i insulted you personally... obviously, i'm not refering to americans as a whole, i'm refering to the current state of hollywood (which is mainly run by jews anyway, like eli roth)... obviously America has mastered i nthe art of cinema and produced the greatest films... but it's the 21st american culture that leads to the terrible films of today, and comments like roth's... tekken player, grow up
@BornToDie90 NO NO NO youre the douche bag and you know it just cant take it can ya LMAO. Feels good when someone is talking shit dont it... Douche bag?
@BornToDie90 just had to reply like a douche bag didnt ya douchie didnt ya? talking about shit you really dont understand but think ya do, isnt that right douchie? Seriously after getting some flak you try and iron out what you put and make it sound like it wasnt as bad as you typed it lmao. Just shut your mouth and go sit on a pike... douchie..
@TekkenPlayer4Life tekkenplayer, as your name states, get off your pc, stop masturbating to violent games, find a bitch to fuck and eat some mcdonalds like a proper american ape does... anti-social american teenager troll, get laid and lighten up :).. won't respond, you're boring
@BornToDie90 good some more of that douchie talk again, now youre trying to act like you know me lol fuckin funny as hell like i said before its dumb asses like you that are just fucking up youtube you're not the 1st and wont be the last, really trying to attack my handle name when you call yourself borntodie lmao. why dont you just go and do as your name says and just die already... Ill be over here getting my cock sucked ^^
@Kari166 not deep or meaningful in the sense that it has a deeper meaning to get across... deep in the sense that its horror is deep... deep because it is based on deep psychological factors and not on violence and gore
@BornToDie90, that's one of the reasons I love movies like The Blair Witch Project and The Exorcist. No blood at all, you don't even see the antagonist in the former, but it's still scary as hell.
@Kari166 There is blood in The Exorcist though. There is that particularly bloody scene with cross if you remember? But I know what you mean, it doesn't rely on it to be scary, which I also like.
This movie really took me to the absolute line, and maybe a little past it as far as being able to enjoy it. It almost showed me too much but I cant really tell if it did or not.
Like the first 45 minutes I thought it was like a beautiful little love story which was wonderfully done and then ...BAM!
i love Takashi Miike's films, Imprint, Ichi The Killer (based off the manga of course) even the short movie, The Box from Three Extremes. but i especially love Audition: it really gets u in a personal level, wheither ur married, dating or single.
Anyone remember of a movie on this list which has to do with a man whose young daughter died and he starts seeing images of her walking around in a little red hoodie and fallows her all over only that its ends up being a scary and ugly old little woman that kills him? Its driving me nuts that i cannot find it
@ZiaddaiZ It's not about it being a horror film, it's the top Scary Movie moments, hell Wizard of Oz was in that countdown man! And from personal opinion.... that movie was fucking HORRORFIYING!!!!!!
to be honest with you, I don't accually get scared quite easily so I don't mind watching scary movies and that junk...! but I LOOOVVVE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY!!!! IT'S AWESOMEEE!!!
got a lend of three extremes from my sister, found dumplings somewhat disturbing. Audition is way way creepier in my personal opinion. Its because you (audience) know after the phone scene how completely far off the reservation this woman is, you know, she is a few sandwiches short of a picnic. He (the main guy) doesnt know. He thinks shes odd and has some possible mental trauma. She fucking nuts. Its a car crash waiting to happen.
i tried extremely hard to keep my poker face during the vomiting in a bowl scene, and the torture (mind you i walked out of Caligula unfased, indifferent to it) as soon as you hear the needles go into his eyes my jaw hit the floor
I dunno, I saw Three Extremes and I own the extended full version of Dumplings... I'd pick Audition as the creepier (just better made I guess) of them all.
Love this countdown!!!!!! Thank you for posting this! I want to buy it on dvd, wish Bravo would release this. @robjapan I agree,if the man who did house of 1000 corpses and the devils rejects thinks its creepy, its got to be scary. And John Landis saying he found it so creepy he didnt like it?! crazy....
soo this i was ok to me, but far worse than what i expected. i watched it because of all the good things i heard about it and was disappointed overall. but it was alright, not terrible. House of the Devil was terrible lol
Oh please don't slag American films. If you would would rather watch this audition film than say harry potter then your weird. Nothing wrong with happy films.
I didn't really like how the filmmakers handled the flashback/dream sequence towards the end that was supposed to explain things. Since the girl really did have that guy in the bag while she was waiting for his call in the first/second act, how did he dream about that in the third act after getting drugged without ever seeing the man in the bag or having any indication that was happening?
Hollywood is just an Israeli propaganda machine whose only purpose is to make money for Israel selling stupid Americans mindless pieces of crap and Americans think they're supposed to like them. The only good Hollywood movies are the ones they stole from Japan and they even fuck those up. I prefer to watch movies that are made outside the US where hopefully Hollywood hasn't had a chance to contaminate it with their bullshit.
@scabbarae Hollywood was founded and run by Jews. Nothing anti-Jewish there, it's a fact. Many of the Jews in Hollywood today are pro-Israel and support that nation in various ways. While Hollywood displays virtually no concern how badly they portray minorities who have usually only the most stereotypical roles but are very conscious how they portray Jews.
@Kirke182 I should have realized I was speaking to a mindless extremist. I could list all the reasons why you are wrong but that would be pointless, since you are the one who is full of propaganda. Get the fuck off YouTube- a cunt like you is not worth anyone's time.
So are the French, if you know which directors and movies to look for. If you're a big horror movie watcher, and aren't easily disgusted by large amounts of gore/blood, then I suggest you watch Xavier Gens Frontier(s). Between Audition and Frontier(s), you wont be able to figure which of them is creeper.
@BjorkGudmundsdottir Lol. I wasn't scared shitless, but it was defiantly up there with the creepy scale that Audition is at, maybe beyond it. You don't expect anything until you actually get to the house and that's were I started to just be freaked out by the movie. And I enjoyed it in the, "I'll never watch a horror movie that will live up to the shit face crazy and creepiness that is this movie." way.
When I saw this movie, I thought I was going to throw up when she feed that dude vomit I literally going to throw up because I was eating ice cream at the time and I had to put that down and hold my mouth and go the other room because I thought I was literally going to be sick. That never happens because I LOVE horror movies, like blood, beheading, etc that doesn't bother me but feces and vomit and people eating it oh please stop
This movie was some seriously sick shit. I'm not easily disturbed or frightened, and although this isn't the kind of horror film that leaves you sleeping with the lights on, it's disturbing in that you don't want to look at oatmeal for days afterwards because you're thinking about that part with the dog food bowl...
Watched this movie last night. It was absolutely amazing, disturbing, and well-made. I just wish Bravo or the American box art didn't give away the fact that the girl is a psycho because I heard the Japanese box art calls it a "bittersweet love story" or something like that, and it comes to a total shock that the girl is crazy. I loved the film but would have liked it alot more if I didn't already know what was going to happen. The bag scene did make me jump though. :)
I dont understand why people are scared of this. I would'nt call this a horror, more a thriller. And dont say I only like Hollywood films just because i dislike this film. I loved Paranormal Activity which build up the tension. Where as this, its no different from play misty for me, or Hard Candy.
THe Vomit Was Eihi Shiina's own Vomit. Compute this: the vomit was reAL not milk like the one from your mama's tits. besides its not all about fake blood splashing out on screen like when you bash your head against the wall...the way you bashed this masterpiece. go drink the semen from ichii the killer. thats real too, boy.
@hanseltan No this movie just sucked. The story was not creepy... at all because it revolved around romantic shit rather than creepy suspense. I came to watch a scary movie with a chick who geniusly sets up to trap an individual but what I got was a shitty torture scene and a horrible script. The ending was the worst I have ever seen in a horror flick.
Its always funny reading comments from people who don't get miike's films. Just show how surface most people on this planet are, oh well, great clip XD
There is a chick who is loved by a man. The chick becomes obsessed with him and he wants him to love no one else. Everyone else is suspicious but he is blinded by love. The rest is predictable and I don't want to spoil anything.
The movie was horrible and I never want to see another one of those shitty japanese horror movies ever again. They all suck and there are always too long with a bad ending.
oh and the needles were UNDER his eyes, these people remember it wrong, I literally JUST watched it and it sucked almost as much as Miike's other disaster I won't bother naming. you know, the one that ends with a random guy pulling a random object out of his chest and destroying tokyo with at the end of, even though the rest of the film could have happened irl. brilliant? this scene was done SO terribly, you guys are complete morons and so is Miike.
@mun090 Let me guess, you are one of these teenage morons, who have no taste in actual REAL horror films. The Japanese know how to make THE BEST psychologically fucking horror films. Get off the comment board if you do not like the film. Who gives a shit about your opinion, anyway?
@MrJapHorror LOL my taste in horror movies is of a waaaay higher standard than your's. I don't like a single horror that came out in the past couple decades. and I'm a teen who likes hostel you think? lol far from teen. my criticism of Miike is clear, he's a terrible director and doesn't know what the fuck he's doing, a scene shouldn't be so pathetically and obviously fake, I've never seen a more pathetic scene than the foot sawing in audition, EVER.
@disdajuice1 how do ppl read my comment and interpret it that way? I make an inarguable point that miike is easily one of the worst directors of all time and that's how you manage to interpret it? the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the scariest movie ever made imo, other 70's horrors (along with some 60's) are also up there. no not "snuff," asshole, real horror movies.
just b/c I didn't find this movie at all gory doesn't mean I even like gore, I just can't believe ppl would say this is
@mun090 apologies friend. just trollin I suppose. I didn't much care for the original TCM (or any of the sequals or prequals for that matter). House of a1000 corpses was more like what I expected from TCM, but expectations have a way of fucking up movies. again my bad, didn't mean to insinuate. peace and love.
@disdajuice1 I pray to god you're still trolling and there isn't a soul in the world who ranks HO1KC higher than TCM.... Zombie: "let's dress the pretty girls up in bunny costumes and have them run from nothing at the end, it'll be scary!" what a dumbass, and then the sequel to that shitpile starts with a shootout, ends with a shootout, and plays classic rock throughout.... does that sound like horror? every dollar I'll ever make says you've seen HO1KC before TCM and you're a teen.
@mun090 Saw TCM long before HO1C fyi. TCM was boring, maybe shocking for the seventies but that's it. And devils rejects could have been released without being a sequal to anything, it was that good. As for classic rock throughout, who gives a shit as long as it has the desired effect. Happen to think any shit love song from the fifties serves to make any scene in a horror movie that much creepier. Maybe consider broadening your horizons a bit.
@disdajuice1 in TDR more people die from gunshots than anything, and the killers don't kill anyone. it's about a cop hunting the killers, a sassy, vengeful cop. zombie gives everyone in the movie sassy one liners that you just know he thinks are so clever and reminiscent of tarantino, which is exactly what zombie was trying to be. how could anyone be afraid for one second during TDR I have no clue. it shouldn't be classified horror by anyone with a measurable IQ.
@mun090 What are you talking about? They kill people throughout the entire movie. Add to that it didn't end in some cornball shootout, it ended in retribution-style torture, that movie could be considered a modern masterpiece. Granted that particular style doesn't lend itself freely to any old script, you try to apply it to, case in point: Halloween-Rob Z. The movie itself was the shit. "measurable I.Q. deez nuts. "One liners" my ass crack, it's called dialogue. Broaden those horizons yo.
@disdajuice1 the movie did end in a shootout, a slow motion shootout while lynyrd skynyrd's Freebird was playing, they drove right into a barrage of bullets while they were making their last pointless stand against the police. how could you forget the ending? oh yeah, b/c it sucked and wasn't horror. torture? where? the cop set them on fire but they were saved by their dumbass friends. have you ever seen Natural Born Killers? zombie only knows how to rip people off.
@mun090 Damn , I did forget, (xD) must have been because that scene was so climactic it felt like it was over, anyway that movie was the shit. Again, what would you say makes the grade besides TCM?
@disdajuice1 amittyville horror (original), the omen (original), house of wax (original - fuck it, they're all the originals here, poltergeist, the wicker man, alien, hellraiser 1 and only 1, rosemary's baby, the shining, pet sematary, psycho, suspiria, phantasm, nightmare on elm street, the changeling, henry: portrait of a serial killer, candyman, silence of the lambs, the thing.
@mun090 and I'd say henry and silence of the lambs are like the Godfather 1 and 2 to horror movies, in their own league, with the rest of them mostly in the same area of greatness behind them. hellraiser would prob be my 3rd fav. forgot to mention zombie movies, dawn of the dead is also a FUCKING ACTION MOVIE. no one has nightmares about dual-wielding shotguns and blowing zombies to hell, shouting badass one liners. maybe they do dream about it but that's a wet dream. zombies = action movie.
@mun090 good list, don't know about the shining or PS and a few I haven't seen yet but, definitley a solid list.. Jaws ain't horror, it's suspense if anything. And I'm with you on the zombie shit. campy horror ain't horror it's bullshit. But Saw? The whole saw series was trash from start to finish. The first one gets points for originality but that's it. There are stronger scripts to be found in most made for T.V. horror movies.
@disdajuice1 I don't see it as a horror, and I actually like campy, cheesy horror. not as horror films, but just as fun movies like those in MST3K. the howling 2 is one of the worst horrors ever made and I love it. the first saw I think is by far the worst actually, the acting was undeniably worse and the dialogue was so cheesy. I do think the writers are brilliant though, you can't name another 6 part series that even tries to justify its sequels, jason just comes back for example.
@disdajuice1 the way the writers keep the films going is interesting though, the length they go to try and convince the audience that hoffman, amanda, and jigsaw were all together from the start borders on obsession actually. they really do care about the integrity of the series and aren't just going to "bring jigsaw back." it may be more of a cop drama but I really am curious to see what happens to the cops in this perhaps way too long saga.
@disdajuice1 it's also very hard to think of a horror with a deeper plot, saw is easily the most story driven horror I've ever seen. there's actually far too much background information, the series is no different from HBO/Showtime series like Dexter or the Sopranos, there are just as many characters and we learn too much about all of them. it might not be scary but I respect the creators for caring. only about a tenth of everyone I've talked to was even able to comprehend the end of saw 4.
@disdajuice1 and if you think I'm just trying to be some sort of up-my-own-ass snotty douche, I FUCKING HATE jaws, the exorcist, halloween, and friday the 13th. they're fucking boring and unscary as can be, they're not even good dramas. and I'll admit to liking Child's Play (I know it's not scary but it's fun as hell) and the Saw series, I honestly think they're the best horrors in decades (even if I do consider them more "cop drama" than horror, so much thought put into them)
@disdajuice1 oh and no, you forgot the scene b/c it's fucking retarded and doesn't belong in a horror movie much like the movie's plot/dialogue/events. as an action it sucks btw, that's been done better in natural born killers.
notice how there's no blood on her when the foot is severed, or on the wire she used to cut it off, none flies when the foot snaps and you don't hear it, the sound effect is as awful as can be. notice how in the entire movie they only used less than a pint of fake blood.
Not only must this crap be banned, but also all who bought it should be properly investigated and corrected with use of our advanced medication.
I also suggest there should be some hidden cameras installed in places which sell DVDs, so that you would get caught buying SAW or something like this and recorded. And later a thorough psychiatric exam should be carried out to find out potential loonies and sick fucks and give them therapy they so need.
@IoriYagamiKyo That's a very depressing, and deeply offensive, line of thought. People enjoy being scared, and it's becoming harder and harder to scare the average movie-goer. Sick shit tends to be the fastest way to a scare, and the sick shit of one's youth is not sick shit today.
Besides, I watch Saw and immediately afterward, An American Tail. You don't have to be a sick fuck to enjoy a creepy movie.
@IoriYagamiKyo okay, I know you haven't even seen the movie b/c it's not gory in the slightest bit. I saw the entire thing at 1am alone and was only mildy disturbed for a second. The scene where she "vomits and feeds it to this guy missing body parts" is in a dream and they don't show her puking, then the puke looks exactly like milk.
@IoriYagamiKyo The "torture" bit is 5 minutes long and the only thing she does is put pins in him, which is OFF CAMERA, then she cuts off his foot (also off cam), then he's saved. idiot. oh and the movie sucked ass, it was boring and I didn't care about any of the characters. you also haven't seen "saw" I guarantee it, I'd bet everything I had. nice job judging movies you haven't seen though, dumbass.
<3 Audition is the best fucking horror/thriller/psychological ass-rape film EVER. It's fucking fantastic. If you haven't seen it and you want to make it through the one film that will make you never be creeped out again (if you can make it through the horrendous scenes in the first place), WATCH THIS MOVIE!
Eli Roth is one of the biggest champions of horror films in Hollywood today. Even if you don't like his movies, you gotta appreciate his efforts.

TekkenPlayer4Life 10 months ago
@BornToDie90, "depth"? Oh, please. It's a great film, but it's not "deep" or "meaningful".
Kari166 6 months ago
@Kari166 not deep or meaningful in the sense that it has a deeper meaning to get across... deep in the sense that its horror is deep... deep because it is based on deep psychological factors and not on violence and gore
BornToDie90 5 months ago
@BornToDie90, that's one of the reasons I love movies like The Blair Witch Project and The Exorcist. No blood at all, you don't even see the antagonist in the former, but it's still scary as hell.
Kari166 5 months ago
@Kari166 There is blood in The Exorcist though. There is that particularly bloody scene with cross if you remember? But I know what you mean, it doesn't rely on it to be scary, which I also like.

This movie really took me to the absolute line, and maybe a little past it as far as being able to enjoy it. It almost showed me too much but I cant really tell if it did or not.
Like the first 45 minutes I thought it was like a beautiful little love story which was wonderfully done and then ...BAM!

got a lend of three extremes from my sister, found dumplings somewhat disturbing.

Kirke182 1 year ago
@Kirke182 Can you help me out here by telling me exactly how Israel and Hollywood are connected?
scabbarae 1 year ago
@scabbarae Hollywood was founded and run by Jews. Nothing anti-Jewish there, it's a fact. Many of the Jews in Hollywood today are pro-Israel and support that nation in various ways. While Hollywood displays virtually no concern how badly they portray minorities who have usually only the most stereotypical roles but are very conscious how they portray Jews.
Kirke182 1 year ago
@Kirke182 I should have realized I was speaking to a mindless extremist. I could list all the reasons why you are wrong but that would be pointless, since you are the one who is full of propaganda. Get the fuck off YouTube- a cunt like you is not worth anyone's time.

So are the French, if you know which directors and movies to look for. If you're a big horror movie watcher, and aren't easily disgusted by large amounts of gore/blood, then I suggest you watch Xavier Gens Frontier(s). Audition - #11 in Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments
bigpriko 1 year ago

THe Vomit Was Eihi Shiina's own Vomit. Compute this: the vomit was reAL not milk like the one from your mama's tits. besides its not all about fake blood splashing out on screen like when you bash your head against the wall...the way you bashed this masterpiece. go drink the semen from ichii the killer. thats real too, boy.
hanseltan 1 year ago
@hanseltan No this movie just sucked. The story was not creepy... at all because it revolved around romantic shit rather than creepy suspense. I came to watch a scary movie with a chick who geniusly sets up to trap an individual but what I got was a shitty torture scene and a horrible script. The ending was the worst I have ever seen in a horror flick.
JustinJsen 1 year ago
Its always funny reading comments from people who don't get miike's films. Just show how surface most people on this planet are, oh well, great clip XD
JackBauer24 1 year ago
@JackBauer24 I understood the movie.
They all suck and there are always too long with a bad ending.

oh and the needles were UNDER his eyes, these people remember it wrong, I literally JUST watched it and it sucked almost as much as Miike's other disaster I won't bother naming. you know, the one that ends with a random guy pulling a random object out of his chest and destroying tokyo with at the end of, even though the rest of the film could have happened irl. brilliant? this scene was done SO terribly, you guys are complete morons and so is Miike.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 Let me guess, you are one of these teenage morons, who have no taste in actual REAL horror films. The Japanese know how to make THE BEST psychologically fucking horror films. Get off the comment board if you do not like the film. Who gives a shit about your opinion, anyway?
MrJapHorror 1 year ago
@MrJapHorror LOL my taste in horror movies is of a waaaay higher standard than your's. I don't like a single horror that came out in the past couple decades. and I'm a teen who likes hostel you think? lol far from teen. my criticism of Miike is clear, he's a terrible director and doesn't know what the fuck he's doing, a scene shouldn't be so pathetically and obviously fake, I've never seen a more pathetic scene than the foot sawing in audition, EVER.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 so what horror movies do you think make the grade? perhaps you are looking for something more in the way of "snuff"?
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 how do ppl read my comment and interpret it that way? I make an inarguable point that miike is easily one of the worst directors of all time and that's how you manage to interpret it? the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the scariest movie ever made imo, other 70's horrors (along with some 60's) are also up there. no not "snuff," asshole, real horror movies.
just b/c I didn't find this movie at all gory doesn't mean I even like gore, I just can't believe ppl would say this is
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 apologies friend. just trollin I suppose. I didn't much care for the original TCM (or any of the sequals or prequals for that matter). House of a1000 corpses was more like what I expected from TCM, but expectations have a way of fucking up movies. again my bad, didn't mean to insinuate. peace and love.
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 I pray to god you're still trolling and there isn't a soul in the world who ranks HO1KC higher than TCM.... Zombie: "let's dress the pretty girls up in bunny costumes and have them run from nothing at the end, it'll be scary!" what a dumbass, and then the sequel to that shitpile starts with a shootout, ends with a shootout, and plays classic rock throughout.... does that sound like horror? every dollar I'll ever make says you've seen HO1KC before TCM and you're a teen.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 Saw TCM long before HO1C fyi. TCM was boring, maybe shocking for the seventies but that's it. And devils rejects could have been released without being a sequal to anything, it was that good. As for classic rock throughout, who gives a shit as long as it has the desired effect. Happen to think any shit love song from the fifties serves to make any scene in a horror movie that much creepier. Maybe consider broadening your horizons a bit.
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 in TDR more people die from gunshots than anything, and the killers don't kill anyone. it's about a cop hunting the killers, a sassy, vengeful cop. zombie gives everyone in the movie sassy one liners that you just know he thinks are so clever and reminiscent of tarantino, which is exactly what zombie was trying to be. how could anyone be afraid for one second during TDR I have no clue. it shouldn't be classified horror by anyone with a measurable IQ.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 What are you talking about? They kill people throughout the entire movie. Add to that it didn't end in some cornball shootout, it ended in retribution-style torture, that movie could be considered a modern masterpiece. Granted that particular style doesn't lend itself freely to any old script, you try to apply it to, case in point: Halloween-Rob Z. The movie itself was the shit. "measurable I.Q. deez nuts. "One liners" my ass crack, it's called dialogue. Broaden those horizons yo.
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 the movie did end in a shootout, a slow motion shootout while lynyrd skynyrd's Freebird was playing, they drove right into a barrage of bullets while they were making their last pointless stand against the police. how could you forget the ending? oh yeah, b/c it sucked and wasn't horror. torture? where? the cop set them on fire but they were saved by their dumbass friends. have you ever seen Natural Born Killers? zombie only knows how to rip people off.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 Damn , I did forget, (xD) must have been because that scene was so climactic it felt like it was over, anyway that movie was the shit. Again, what would you say makes the grade besides TCM?
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 amittyville horror (original), the omen (original), house of wax (original - fuck it, they're all the originals here, poltergeist, the wicker man, alien, hellraiser 1 and only 1, rosemary's baby, the shining, pet sematary, psycho, suspiria, phantasm, nightmare on elm street, the changeling, henry: portrait of a serial killer, candyman, silence of the lambs, the thing.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 and I'd say henry and silence of the lambs are like the Godfather 1 and 2 to horror movies, in their own league, with the rest of them mostly in the same area of greatness behind them. hellraiser would prob be my 3rd fav. forgot to mention zombie movies, dawn of the dead is also a FUCKING ACTION MOVIE. no one has nightmares about dual-wielding shotguns and blowing zombies to hell, shouting badass one liners. maybe they do dream about it but that's a wet dream. zombies = action movie.
mun090 1 year ago
@mun090 good list, don't know about the shining or PS and a few I haven't seen yet but, definitley a solid list.. Jaws ain't horror, it's suspense if anything. And I'm with you on the zombie shit. campy horror ain't horror it's bullshit. But Saw? The whole saw series was trash from start to finish. The first one gets points for originality but that's it. There are stronger scripts to be found in most made for T.V. horror movies.
disdajuice1 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 I don't see it as a horror, and I actually like campy, cheesy horror. not as horror films, but just as fun movies like those in MST3K. the howling 2 is one of the worst horrors ever made and I love it. the first saw I think is by far the worst actually, the acting was undeniably worse and the dialogue was so cheesy. I do think the writers are brilliant though, you can't name another 6 part series that even tries to justify its sequels, jason just comes back for example.
mun090 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 the way the writers keep the films going is interesting though, the length they go to try and convince the audience that hoffman, amanda, and jigsaw were all together from the start borders on obsession actually. they really do care about the integrity of the series and aren't just going to "bring jigsaw back." it may be more of a cop drama but I really am curious to see what happens to the cops in this perhaps way too long saga.
mun090 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 it's also very hard to think of a horror with a deeper plot, saw is easily the most story driven horror I've ever seen. there's actually far too much background information, the series is no different from HBO/Showtime series like Dexter or the Sopranos, there are just as many characters and we learn too much about all of them. it might not be scary but I respect the creators for caring. only about a tenth of everyone I've talked to was even able to comprehend the end of saw 4.
mun090 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 and if you think I'm just trying to be some sort of up-my-own-ass snotty douche, I FUCKING HATE jaws, the exorcist, halloween, and friday the 13th. they're fucking boring and unscary as can be, they're not even good dramas. and I'll admit to liking Child's Play (I know it's not scary but it's fun as hell) and the Saw series, I honestly think they're the best horrors in decades (even if I do consider them more "cop drama" than horror, so much thought put into them)
mun090 1 year ago
@disdajuice1 oh and no, you forgot the scene b/c it's fucking retarded and doesn't belong in a horror movie much like the movie's plot/dialogue/events. as an action it sucks btw, that's been done better in natural born killers.
mun090 1 year ago
notice how there's no blood on her when the foot is severed, or on the wire she used to cut it off, none flies when the foot snaps and you don't hear it, the sound effect is as awful as can be. notice how in the entire movie they only used less than a pint of fake blood.

A movie for sick fucks...
Not only must this crap be banned, but also all who bought it should be properly investigated and corrected with use of our advanced medication.
I also suggest there should be some hidden cameras installed in places which sell DVDs, so that you would get caught buying SAW or something like this and recorded. And later a thorough psychiatric exam should be carried out to find out potential loonies and sick fucks and give them therapy they so need.

sandmanmk101 1 year ago
@IoriYagamiKyo That's a very depressing, and deeply offensive, line of thought. People enjoy being scared, and it's becoming harder and harder to scare the average movie-goer. Sick shit tends to be the fastest way to a scare, and the sick shit of one's youth is not sick shit today.
Besides, I watch Saw and immediately afterward, An American Tail. You don't have to be a sick fuck to enjoy a creepy movie.
Mremaknu 1 year ago
@IoriYagamiKyo dude a horror movie is for entertainment purposes so are u gonna ban video games ?
Jin6107 1 year ago
@IoriYagamiKyo okay, I know you haven't even seen the movie b/c it's not gory in the slightest bit. I saw the entire thing at 1am alone and was only mildy disturbed for a second. The scene where she "vomits and feeds it to this guy missing body parts" is in a dream and they don't show her puking, then the puke looks exactly like milk.
