I'm happy. Win7 here no errors... Haven't had a virus for two years now. Also disabled UAC so i don't get any are you sure messages. I paid for nice hardware ( i would have got significantly less bang for my buck had i bought a mac.) and it runs beautifully. I guess it really comes down to if you're computer literate. Example : 3DS Max and the funny thing is Mac tries to pass it's self as an artist computer...Most high end 3D architectural software won't work on Mac OS at all...

Wtf... There is 6 windows and 1 mac in my house. At start the windows was pretty good but now they are more and more slow each day even my dad is doing maintance on them twice a day. My mac still running the same speed since I got it 1 year ago and anybody is doing maintance on it, so if I paid 500$ just for an apple logo, well this logo is really good... The 8GB or DDR3 1066Mhz SDRAM, the 3.06Ghz Intel Processor and the 2.93Ghz Intel on my MacBook Pro. The ATI Radeon 4850 HD graphics with 512MB of GDDR3, the integrated and dedicated nVIDIA graphics on my MacBook Pro. Everything is amazing from Apple. And being new to the Mac world I must say it fantastic. Never though I would say this but I am definitely a MacHead
And everything works seamlessly right out of the box, the Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, AirPort, everything. Never had a problem with my Mac like I do with my PC in my other room. very phenomenal products. 2 thumbs up from me.

I have never gotten the blue screen of death on my PC that's 5 years old. My sister's Mac laptop died in less than a year. My PC that lasted for 5 years and cost half the price lasted 5 times longer than my sister's mac. My cousin who got the highest quality mac Laptop you could get crashed on the 2nd DAY that he had it. If I ever get a mac it will only be for coding for it.

I think it's absolutely hilarious that when you upgrade a Windows PC, it gets slower, but when I update to a new version of Mac OS X, my Mac gets faster. Microsoft only cares about generating revenue and selling tacked-on "features". Apple actually takes the time to improve it's code and fix bugs.

Her point was that Windows assumes that the user is entirely retarded. OS X doesn't ask your permission every single time you try to do anything. If you're using the Unix command line, you get no confirmation at all. Unix assumes that if you're using Unix, you know what you're doing.
Also, most mundane tasks take less clicks in OS X than it would on a Windows PC. Count how many clicks it would take you to move a file from your desktop to a folder nested 20 layers deep. I can do it in one.

I call BULLSHIT. Adobe software is for Mac, you're lucky Adobe was kind enough to release Windows versions of some of their software. When someone hacks their PC to run OS X (which is illegal) it is called a "Hackintosh". There was a "company" Psystar that were selling these illegal computers and Apple sued them. Emeek77 has a great video about this, I suggest that you check out his channel.
Macs run 100% of the world's software because it runs 100% of the world's operating system. Windows isn't proprietary? Then why is it you have to HACKINTOSH your machines to even think about running OS X, and by doing so you never get the full effect of OS X because it won't work well on your cheap hardware. At least Apple designs every single piece to fit together... that means it RUNS. Too often home made PC boxes don't work to the full potential of the hardware.

Linux, and BSD will run on PC's. Mac OS took ideas from Linux, and BSD.
Steve Jobs started using BSD code in NeXTSTEP OS. than the code from BSD was added to Mac OS X. Apple had a project called mkLinux at the same time that the also got ideas from. Linux, and BSD started on standard PC's not Apples. Example : 3DS Max and the funny thing is Mac tries to pass it's self as an artist computer...Most high end 3D architectural software won't work on Mac OS at all...

I think Linux is more customizable when changing the look of when you first install it. So I'm going to wrap this up by saying that Program Venders SUCK...I don't want to have to dual boot or run wine or use crossover just to run another operating system's program!!

...that they have. Mac and Linux are the same when I'm using the terminal for bash commands (they have the same commands). I'll say this though...when using windows overtime there will be alot of registry errors but for you windows users google "Advanced System Care" (you'll thank me later) and that'll fix windows to run like brand new. Plus Mac and Linux don't really need an antivirus due to not having the certain permissions due to not being the root :)

Okay let us all get this straight...all operating systems are good. I used them all but I use Linux Ubuntu as my main. The reason I say they're all good is you can do pretty much the same things in all of them. Now I can understand when a windows user will say that mac or linux sux 'cuz they're gamers...but instead of saying one or the other sucks, let's just say the program venders suck since they make their product for just one operating system. PC are excellent for programmers and hackers, Macs are excellent for Graphics and printing. Originally, Macs were made for Graphics. I am a Mac fan because I was born with several macs at home. In fact, as apple sales rise, so do mac viruses, and mac is not as prepared to handle it as windows, who has many years of experience dealing with it. As far as hardware goes. Wtf... There is 6 windows and 1 mac in my house. At start the windows was pretty good but now they are more and more slow each day even my dad is doing maintance on them twice a day. My mac still running the same speed since I got it 1 year ago and anybody is doing maintance on it, so if I paid 500$ just for an apple logo, well this logo is really good... Also my dad put alot of money on the windows because they needs remplacement gear. My macbook cost me 1149$ nothing more, nothing less.

I'm actualy very happy with Vista, as i was with XP before.
No doubt Apple are a very innovative company with amazing prodects, i just bagged myself an ipod touch, it's amazing!!
But for me Windows has always worked great, i turned off the annoying UAC so dont get asked "if i'm sure" all the time, my laptop looks great, it's quick, and does what i need and more. It hasn't crashed in the 4 months i've had it and was a great deal.

The 8GB or DDR3 1066Mhz SDRAM, the 3.06Ghz Intel Processor and the 2.93Ghz Intel on my MacBook Pro. The ATI Radeon 4850 HD graphics with 512MB of GDDR3, the integrated and dedicated nVIDIA graphics on my MacBook Pro. Everything is amazing from Apple. And being new to the Mac world I must say it fantastic. Never though I would say this but I am definitely a MacHead

I have never gotten the blue screen of death on my PC that's 5 years old. My sister's Mac laptop died in less than a year. My PC that lasted for 5 years and cost half the price lasted 5 times longer than my sister's mac. My cousin who got the highest quality mac Laptop you could get crashed on the 2nd DAY that he had it. Yeah, and Dell and Amazon run their online retail stores using Apple's WebObjects. You're only assuming that no one is using Apple servers. Apple wouldn't be selling Xserves if no one were using them. As for market share, it doesn't have anything to do with retail sales, it's a number that represents how many people are using each operating system. The numbers come from actual usage, not sales.

The market share statistics are based on actual usage, not sales! These are very real numbers. I, personally, don't know anyone who uses Linux as their main OS. I only know one person who uses it every now and then. On the other hand, I know quite a few people who use OS X.

OS X's predecessor, NeXTSTEP, was a complete desktop operating system before Linux was even written as a kernel. Linux has a long way to go before it gives OS X "a run for it's money." As for software, any Linux software worth using has already been ported to OS X.

Exactly. You are absolutely right. Your experience sounds exactly like my own. XP was the last straw for me. I've used Vista, but I'm not the least bit impressed. I think it's absolutely hilarious that when you upgrade a Windows PC, it gets slower, but when I update to a new version of Mac OS X, my Mac gets faster. Microsoft only cares about generating revenue and selling tacked-on "features". Apple actually takes the time to improve it's code and fix bugs.

Linux software is often just a cheap knock-off of a commercial application. Any Linux software that is worth using has already been ported to Windows and Mac OS X.
The beauty of Mac OS X is that, even though it's simple enough for anyone, it can also be as complex as you wish. You get the Unix command line.

she did, but didn't elaborate on it at all, but the main thing is, macs will never take over cause Apple thinks they are made of gold, which they aren't, Macs are so overpriced its ridiculous. and the fact I can get an older PC, throw linux on it, depending on the specs I can choose or make a linux that will run perfect on it, its ridiculous to pay insane prices when your older PC can stay running just fine.

You can put OS X on an old Mac and be just fine, as well. Macs only seem overpriced because people refuse to compare them to PCs that have the same hardware! Apple doesn't cater to the budget PC crowd. They're not going to build cheap, low profit computers. They only build higher end machines. It's not that they're overpriced, they just don't make cheap computers. That's not a bad thing. You get the hardware that you pay for. You're not getting ripped off.

And I like the confirmation process when I delete a program.
Because if I click the wrong thing by accident it asks me if I want to delete it, I would see that I made a mistake, and that way I don't have to reinstall it later!

Good to see a female that understands that Windows is last in the OS game. Unix/Linux based OS are stable period. Check out Solaris and OpenSolaris, Opensuse and Ubuntu. OS X is great.

Her point was that Windows assumes that the user is entirely retarded. OS X doesn't ask your permission every single time you try to do anything. If you're using the Unix command line, you get no confirmation at all. Unix assumes that if you're using Unix, you know what you're doing.
Also, most mundane tasks take less clicks in OS X than it would on a Windows PC. Count how many clicks it would take you to move a file from your desktop to a folder nested 20 layers deep. I can do it in one.

haha you do know you can fix errors and if all fails you can reinstall windows. You dont just have to bin the laptop :P haha welcome to mac, but man maybe you shouldnt be using computers at all if windows is to hard for you. Btw there is a reason why os' ask you if you are sure. Working with admin you wouldnt belive how much stuff is deleted by missclicking or not double checking. Its just a reminder to get your brain into gear so you dont detele your days work without thinking

When someone hacks their PC to run OS X (which is illegal) it is called a "Hackintosh". There was a "company" Psystar that were selling these illegal computers and Apple sued them. Emeek77 has a great video about this, I suggest that you check out his channel.

Macs run 100% of the world's software because it runs 100% of the world's operating system. Windows isn't proprietary? Then why is it you have to HACKINTOSH your machines to even think about running OS X, and by doing so you never get the full effect of OS X because it won't work well on your cheap hardware. At least Apple designs every single piece to fit together... that means it RUNS. Too often home made PC boxes don't work to the full potential of the hardware.
