If Sonic and Mario brawl, then Sonic would win because of his unmatched agility and speed. Mario is good at hand to hand combat but is hopeless if he doesn't have a star or a fireflower.
However, mario videogames top off sonic videogames. Mario's games have flawless originality and creative design and gameplay. Sonic it's just about running fast and getting to the end of the stage as fast as possible in hopes of getting an S rank. his gimicks aren't really good either.like the werehog.

Wing Cap, Vanish Cap, Metal Cap, P Baloon, Propeller Mushroom, Penguin Suit, Tanooki Leaves, the list goes on and on......... While Sonic has the elemental shields, Light Speed Dash, can transform into Super Sonic, and some other stuff I forgot. Yeah, there aren't a lot of them in Sonic's case. and to top it all off, Mario has A TON of 1-Ups. He could keep on and on and still fight.
Overall, Mario is a legend, while Sonic bites the dust, wishing he could be just as good as the legend himself...

Wing Cap, Vanish Cap, Metal Cap, P Baloon, Propeller Mushroom, Penguin Suit, Tanooki Leaves, the list goes on and on......... While Sonic has the elemental shields, Light Speed Dash, can transform into Super Sonic, and some other stuff I forgot. Yeah, there aren't a lot of them in Sonic's case. and to top it all off, Mario has A TON of 1-Ups. He could keep on and on and still fight.
Overall, Mario is a legend, while Sonic bites the dust, wishing he could be just as good as the legend himself...

@leynad72 Maybe you haven't played SA1 or SA2(B) but Sonic does have the Light Attack and Magic Hands. If you ask me that should have been Sonic's final smash (Light Attack). Also, Sonic has the power to use these skills whenever he wants. I'm not saying that I don't like Mario. I like both Sonic and Mario just in equally different ways.

Most Sonic games nowadays are shit with a face. While Mario's are just as good as they were when he debuted on the NES. Mario is not slow, he's just..... not as fast. But he trades some of his speed for power, something Sonic lacks.
