I think the solution is simple, like I alluded to in my response. Reduce the size of government, and prevent lobbying period.

The main problem in the healthcare industry is government. 60% of the healthcare industry is funded through medicare/medicaid. 98% is over-regulated and designed to increase the costs of health coverage so a few people can get rich.

I think there needs to be some reform to the health industy, it doesn't involve increasing government influence.

Last your medicare and medicaid were over $800 Billion. Healthcare is a $1.2 trillion industry.

There are 330 million Americans. 50 million do not pay for health insurance. Less then 8 million of them cannot afford it.

There needs to be deregulation. The current health insurance regulations are 133000 pages long. Merely adding more is not the solution.

They've only used about 10% of the stimulus package and will take several months or years to use it all. It's a bit early to say it was total failure. Jobs are usually the last to get any kind of recovery, however the stock market does seem to be improving at a steady rate. We may see a decrease in unemployment once holiday season comes up. Also, consumers get to a point where they've saved enough and maybe eliminated debt and start buying.

The federal government spends money on many things. Federal Deficit is also called "public debt". The annual Federal Deficit refers to the difference between government receipts & spending. Logically, the deficit is equal to annual increase in the debt. However, there is certain spending (supplemental appropriations and the surplus tax receipts in the Social Security program) that add to the debt but are excluded from the deficit. Out of all our spending, under Bush the FD made up 75.5% of debt

In the 6 months under Obama, the discretionary spending looks like the Saturn 5. (that is a reference to a large rocket).

One also should control for who has Congress. Reagan had a Dem Congress wildly in love with spending. When Clinton had his majority in Congress, he was revving to spend. When Reps came in and forced him to behave, the economy did better.
