I have a commercial collection that features this commercial!! For awhile there I thought it was Gregory Peck!! LOL LOL WOW!!!! I didn't recognize Kevin with a mustasche!!!
These vehicles used parts from the Big 3. GM ignition, Chrysler Torqueflite transmissions, Ford carburetors, starters and solenoids. AMC-All Makes Combined!!!
I've owned a few over the years, some good, some bad. I find it kind of funny to downplay the competition while you're using THEIR parts to build YOUR cars!!!
@imperial73 The greatest cars they ever made was the Javelin (SST) AMX, and the Rambler Scrambler (pre-AMC). Though these cars weren't without their share of problems, they can be beefed up in key areas and will fetch a nice buck from the right collector/classic-antique car enthusiast.
@maverickdallas100 Just to clarify, the logo on the Scrambler read SC/Rambler, the SC standing for "Sport Coupe".
If you collect classic muscle cars and can find one of these rare beasts for a decent price I'd say snap it up. They're only bound to increase in value substantually because there wasn't that many built (only 1512 total).
I used these in my security business from 1975 to 1983 they were just never die work horses. I was so sold on them I still drive two of them in 2011. Easy upkeep, cheap repairs and a real neck breaker when people don't know what the hell your driving.
@ TheLizardking1957 They didn't close the company down, they were acquired by Chrysler because it was such a good company and good fit for Chrysler. Jeep, the newest factory in the USA, plenty of capasity and a plateforme (eagle premier) which was used to create LH series of cars which saved Chysler's ass during the 1990's
I've never seen this ad and love Kevin McCarthy. I was actually upset when I learned he past away yesterday at the age of 93....Thanks so much for this commercial. RIP Kevin McCarthy
RIP Kevin McCarthy. This was actually the first thing that popped into my mind upon learning of his death instead of the famous Body Snatchers ending.
@TheLizardKing1967 , Not really. AMC was absorbed into Chrysler. Key AMC management took over virtually all the major Chrysler leadership positions including Engineering/Design. The Chrysler LH platform was derived from the AMC Premier platform. AMC's lean development programs became the standard at Chrysler and we all know how Jeep became a cash cow in the 90's. No AMC was not closed down.
@Drivermatic . If Chrysler keeps producing trashy cars like the Chrysler Sebring convertible, you can bet your bottom dollar they will go out of business in the next few years.
My parents drive a 2007 Chrysler Sebring convertible and it's a very good car, they've had no problems with it at all, so why are you bagging on them?
@OldCarsAreBest . I take it your parents didn't do their homework when purchasing a new car. So sad. With all the negative information on the web regarding the Chrysler Sebring convertible you would think your parents would have gotten the word by now. You, on the other hand have no sense when it comes to "what is a good car" and "what is a bad car". Do your homework and READ up on automobiles before you email someone back not knowing what you are talking about.
@OldCarsAreBest They improved considerably in the more recent years. The earlier Sebrings and the LH bodies that used the 2.7L V-6 had more than their fair share of engine problems and early failures. Hopefully Chrysler fully addressed those issues.
A nice, simple commercial.

Just how I like an advertisement to be, basic, no nonsense, to the point. Nothing glamorous.

Kevin McCarthy was also the lead actor in the 50's sci-fi movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I first thought it was Stacy Keach too.
He did drive a '73 Matador unmarked unit in Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke.
