  • Thank you for posting this. I am 27 fixing to be 28. Ive been watching videos to see what to expect, but you are the first adult that I have seen. May I ask why you had a brace and when was your surgery done? Thank you so much for posting

  • I had my surgery when I was 14 becuz I played sports it made it work I had an S shaped spine and it was over 100 degrees the pain was horrible and I had so many complications and k e ded up havin a breathing tube for almost three weeks but like u I'm happy I had it done :)

  • My best friend had this done when I was in 4th grade and she was in 6th. It seemed like I was down there at the hospital every day visiting her. This brought back those memories.

  • hey....I just wanted to know how long it took you to recover and be free of pain?

  • I'm getting the surgery in a week. I am only 15, and do not understand how you could go so long with scoliosis. I have watched many scoliosis recovery diaries and they all scared me. Your story and positive attitude on your journey has really helped. Thank you for putting out this video, it really helped. =]

Sorry I didn't see this comment earlier. I see you are getting surgery soon (this week 3/10/11 ?) Anyhow, I'm so happy you felt comforted in my video diary. It's my hope that others will benefit from my experience. I pray God blesses you in your life and may you be a blessing to others. Stand tall my friend! Blessings, Stephanie

  • im glad everything worked out for you :) surgery isnt fun!

  • Stephanie,

Your video made me cry. It brought back all the emotions I went thru with my 16yr old son during his 2008 Scoliosis Surgery. (Thoracic 70*/Lumbar 35*) 3 days ICU and 6 days on regular floor( Liver went crazy from all the stress of surgery, but recovered) .gained 1.5" inches and another 2" within the next year during his growth spurt. The first month is the toughest and it just gets better and better. Wishing you all the best.

  • @FlyenNun1

I hope your son is doing well. I appreciate your kind words. This is an experience I will never forget. I feel so blessed to have been given this great opportunity. I pray that I will be able to help others suffering from scoliosis. A disease that effects over 12 million people. "Conquer the curve and tell your spine to straighten up"

    Stephanie,

I believe your right. That is, by sharing your story will help others immensely. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a improved life with your new back.

    Sincerely, MJ :o)

  • Stephanie,

Congratulations on having the surgery! I am 16 years old and I had my surgery 6 1/2 weeks ago for a 53* Thoraci and 35* Lumbar curves. I wish you the best of luck :) I was fused from T4-T12 with 2 rods and 18 screws.

  • @twin4life09 Congratulations to you also. What a big change huh? How is your pain? Where did you have your surgery? Will you be able to start back to school on time? Thanks again for your comment.

  • @scolistephaniern Thank you! It's a very big change but I like it =D haha. My pain is pretty good, some moments of uncomfortableness but for the most part, I feel back to myself :) I had my surgery at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. Yeah, I will be starting on August 30th, as scheduled and I am able to carry a backpack, which is nice :) Your welcome and best of luck <3
