When soldiers open fire after an IED attack they are not trying to kill everyone in site! They are at their most vunerable right after the explosion. A good time for an ambush. Soldiers are trained to react without thinking.  Lay down cover fire to keep the bad guys head's down, and get the hell out of the kill zone! Nobody but those guys in the video really knows what was happening at that time. Even then I'm sure it was all pretty confusing.

@EzraMerr In our defense Britain and American vehicles are designed to fight actual armies and not pissed off farmers clamping together what make a big explosion, Humvees and Snatch Land Rovers were used initially because its what we had and it served its purpose until they started using IEDs. now we're using Jackals and other vehicles such as that which are very good at protecting against IED attacks but I bet would suffer a vice versa problem if taken into a full scale war.
