  • Dude I love your videos!! U r funny!!!!! Lol Love them!!

  • soooo have you been shoot before? how much did it hurt?.......

lol sorry i had to ask those questions

  • torres and the seargents disliked this video

  • What is the difference between the marine basic training and the army basic training? What is recommended more? I plan to join but doing my research before going in.

  • @cptdustin Marine bt is one hell of a ride. It's more tougher than the revised army bt.

  • @plnko

Is the more benefits in the army or marines? What is more recommended.

  • @cptdustin i'm in the army now, from what i've heard/seen, the army has more opportunities in terms of MOSs that can translate much easier into the civilian world once you get out. Right now I am a satellite communications system operator/maintainer. I've been told that I can make a pretty decent living with just the training from AIT alone.

My advice: score as well as you can on the ASVAB, because the higher you score, the more opportunities you will have. Good luck.

  • @steevieg

alright thanks for the info, Since the six months I last wrote something on this video, I am leaning more to the army, and since you mentioned ASVAB, what kind of questions do they ask? and thanks :)

  • @cptdustin its pretty much about a bunch of different subjects.

general science & math (common sense stuff)

    reading comprehension & vocabulary

electronics information (circuits & stuff like that. easier than it sounds.)

Assembling objects, mechanics, other stuff like that (gears, pulleys, etc)

overall, it's all general knowledge stuff, but they add a couple questions to see how much advanced things you know (like a couple calculus questions or whatever). thats about all i remember.

    it's easy

  • @steevieg

ok shouldn't be hard then, but someone told me that they had a question, " What comes first, the chicken or the egg?" Doesn't sound realistic to me but ok,

and I am not good at math, so that will be a bit harder, but I do like math, I just have a hard time learning it.

  • Marines....cannon fodder for real soldiers!

  • We were doin barracks cleanup in basic one time...drill sergeant caught me sleepin in latrine lol i was in stall, sittin on toilet sideways with my feet tucked up that was a long smokin :)

  • poor Torres.....hahahahaha

  • I don't know what it is. If your just a good story teller or what. But I really really enjoy your army life videos. You crack me up too, lol. Good Stuff.

  • Jim do you still have connections with these people?

  • Why do the Marines & their fans bitch so much about Army training? I checked the stats comparing Army BCT to Marine's Boot Camp, and the Army isn't that much easier!

  • @25Milimeter its just because the marines try to break you down to the point where you just want to quit the army doesn't do that. The Armys job is to turn as many civilians into soldiers. The Marines job is to create an elite fighting force, even though the marines go in first and usually die first

  • @AmericanGMS I'm not an American, but I've done extensive research on this topic, and its really what the govt needs, goes into a combat zone. And Elite? The Canadians train much longer, and a bit harder than them, and not even they are considered "Elite".

  • @25Milimeter well elite compared to the regular army

  • @AmericanGMS Do you know anything about the Infantry?

  • @WarfighterCapable yes my father is a marine and so with my uncles and cousins

  • @AmericanGMS Just because you know Marines doesn't mean you know anything about anything, For all I know they could be POG Marines then they wouldn't have any worth talk at all.. The only people that bash Army and Marines are the POG's. On a side note always capitalize Marine if your dad or cousins or uncles saw you not capitalize it they'd probs give you a courtesy punch in the face.

  • @WarfighterCapable my dad and uncles were infrantry but now there POGs cuz they are old and my 3 out of the 4 cousins are infrantry and one is POG but now there are only 3 cuz my one cousin died last year

  • Buffer rodeo was best after 2 or 3 shots of that good ol' PX Nyquil. Add in one of your bunkmate's muscle relaxers and it gets better. lol Sounds like Torez needed a blanket party. Ok, he paid in the end. Funny stories. L8r.

  • haha, that was me...lol your the funniest dude i've ever heard!!!! lol i wanna see some of your DI's responses to that 1 haha

  • this dude is halarious, anyone who fucks with this dude should be shot, i love em haha

  • Thats a chopper that flew over.

  • our barracks where the red brick buildings. close the the shopette. C-3-3 We had females on the 3rd floor...man a bunch of hot women I remember then one chick told me when we were standing in line to use the phone. she says "you see that guy overthere? I am going to fuck him!" I was like did not know what to say. I turne around and she had the biggest smile. When am I next.

  • Army life great. Ft. LeonardWood MS. C-3-3 1980 SSG Strickland man always yelling for no fricken reason. Basic Training.

  • it would be like real cool if Torres watched this xD

  • I went through Basic in 1993. At 2:20, he say's his Drill Sergeant threw his hat. That was so familiar. We had one. It seemed every other day he threw his hat, on the floor, at me, at someone else, he stomped on it. ETC. He was always having to get a new one. Not sure if that was just for "theatrics" or he was just a major stress case?

  • that was shit omfg

  • I had a blast at meps, it was shitty yes, the fucking people working there pissed me off but the people I met I had fun with, of course, they didnt get on my ass too hard because its just meps, thankfully.

  • MEPS was the worst...

  • aahaha se la mamo al torres!

  • ever heard of sgt. charles lee Adams

  • when i grow up i wana be in the army!

  • is the airforce and the army similar

  • @MDelaney89 Not really althought they do work together a lot because a lot of air force bases are next to army bases.

  • @Talljim01 oh ok but are there ecvercises similar?

  • @MDelaney89 No Army is military and Air Force is a corporation.

  • @SilenceSlayer224 what would the Marine Corps be?

  • @JCLevell Farm equipment designed to harvest the souls of terrorists both foreign and domestic.

  • @MDelaney89 airforce is harder to get into apperantly

  • that thing you said about the rocks and the marching is weird. now when you go to bct you carry your 1qt canteens during reception in your left hand when your leaning to march so you eventually get used to it. but during bct you have that damn 2qt canteen with a strap on it you have to wear everywhere you go. no matter what people might think that damn 2qt canteen does make the front leaning rest position feel harder atleast it did for me haha

  • @MrRanger1987 When I went we received Camelbaks at reception. Also, ANYTHING on you makes it feel harder, same with lunges.... damn you lunges, wait low crawl.

  • @Kotysd5 not to mention when a drill sgt would put his foot on your back haha. i'll be honest i dont think i did a single lunge during bct except in the pt warmups and cooldowns. i seen a lot of other platoons getting smoked in all weird different ways. ours was always pushup, flutter, run in place but we did it nonstop. our platoon pushup number from week 1 was 50 and by week 8 we would be getting smoked individually 100reps at a time. only other thing we did was a few front raises with an m16

  • @MrRanger1987 We stopped being individually smoked at week 1. We group smoked by doing something called the race track. We would go around in a circle doing bear crawls, low crawls, High crawls, Lungs, running, crab walks and burpee jumps. My favourite smoking was the running in place then doing different things from that like jumping, push ups, flutter kicks, then doing some foot ball down thing.

  • @Kotysd5 we were smoked as a platoon during the first 3 weeks then smoked individually or in small fuckup groups haha. our company only ran the pit 1 night for about an hour. we just did sprints with our m16 above our heads the whole time. if u kept it up for 60seconds they would let you quit but nobody could so we kept going and going. then someone would talk either being pissed at someone or trying to motivate someone and we would have to go and go some more.

  • @MrRanger1987 Oh man. That would suck. I'm glad I never got smoked like that.

  • @Kotysd5 i was a fire support specialist so my ait was pretty easy at fort sill. most of the stuff we did was out in the field and we did a lot of company and individual pt. nothing really exclusive when it came to punishments physical wise because my ait was only i think about 8 weeks long at the time. i'm not sure how they have everything now because i hear of all the changes going on at the bcts so i assume a lot of the aits are probably changing also.

  • @Kotysd5 of course when you hear talks of extracting from a war and moving on i find it an odd time to change how things work at bct now. i dont understand why they would change how we train at the end of the war and not during the beginning. we were kind of free styling it i guess to count the death tolls first compared to the other wars. took them 10 years to realize we dont run 2 miles or use bayonets in iraq haha

  • @MrRanger1987 Well, from how I understand they do it about every 3-5 years. But what do I know, second-hand knowledge from other enlisted personnel

  • How can people not know their left from their right lol. That's so retarded.

  • @RRAvon One of the ways, is when you get a guy in front of you that cant march, you start focusing on his f## up feet and you lose track of the cadence. lol

  • @RRAvon its more not having rhythm

  • @RRAvon because when your getting yelled at all the time you seam to forget the easy shit

  • These are great videos. I am hoping to ship off to basic soon, I'm going through a waiver right now, and it's nice to hear the experiences of someone who has been through it.

  • hey did they have MEPS back than?

  • @lvrpatriot01 I hated MEPS

  • @Talljim01 anyone normal hates MEPS..god that place sucked..

  • @groves1990 it definately isnt as bad as reception at basic. that sucks 100 times worse.

  • @stratmemph1 whats so bad about it i mean i dont ever really hear someone explain exactly why their just like "so you get to the base where youll go through basic training and you go through reception...its terrinle. moving on..." haha

  • @groves1990 it sucks because you really dont do anything. you wait in line for hours while trying to adjust to a new sleeping schedule. our drill sgts at reception got us done within 4 days and we were scheduled to be there for 6 so the last 2 days we sat all day and couldnt talk n couldnt sleep.

  • @groves1990 Not the hotel I got to stay at, good times, good times :D

  • @NekkedAsian Haha dude the night before i was supposed to do my medical at meps I hooked up with these fine ass air force girls and i have damn high standards i was like hell yeah i love the military :P

  • @Talljim01 so did they?

  • Thanks for posting, these are some awesome stories, I like all of them : )

  • @SpartanMDC 1984

  • Seems just like yesterday when I shipped off to Basic

  • How long were you in the army for? I just swore in and leave in October. Mos is 11x(infantry) with option 40 and airborne. I plan on making is a life career.

  • @DoyleVonFrankenstein I was only in for 15 yrs

  • @Talljim01 Oh, that's awesome. I want to stay as long as I can. Do you know what age you can go to? I'm 22 now.

  • @DoyleVonFrankenstein I think it is 34

  • @Talljim01 It's 41. They recently raised the age

  • @DoyleVonFrankenstein 17 and a half you can join the army so you should be fine..

  • @lvrpatriot01 I thought you had to be 18 to join

  • @groves1990 17 with a guardian's signed permission. At least for the Marines.

  • @chrislgrooms yeah i guess because you at least need a GED and you have to be 17 to get one.

  • @groves1990 Also, you can graduate HS at 17. I entered the Marines at 17. Signed up in Sept 1999. Left for boot on March 9 2000 (I graduate HS early in Feb), but I wouldn't have turned 18 until Sept 2000, so either way. Just depends on how young you are in your class whether or not you grad at 17 or 18.

  • @DoyleVonFrankenstein I will be at Benning Oct. 14th when are you going

  • @MrEdenX

i'll be at Benning the 5th, Hooah brother.

  • @xmonsterfreakx Make sure you eat something besides chicken alright.

  • @Kotysd5 thanks for the advice, i'll keep that in mind

  • how long did u stay in the army and is it a rough life?

  • no it aint a court martial offense well not in garrison

  • I'm leaving for ft knox too this month.as a 19k also.and my air is at ft Knox too so ha!

  • man you got good stories

  • Dude! That was some funny stuff!

  • Isn't sleeping on guard duty a court martial offense? I was in twenty years before you were and I think it was back then.

  • @texman81 in basic training its about 75 push ups lol

  • @Talljim01 it was a hardcore gas mask 2am smoking for us haha

  • hahahaha omg u people are the funnyist people ever. good people thank u all for serveing and for thoughs who are going to serve.

  • Great Stories dude, very informative and entertaining. 5 stars

  • you sound like my uncle when he tells his stories haha i love it

i leave august for boot camp, been waiting for 2 years noww

  • I head out to basic April 5th 2010 to Ft Knox for OSUT as a Cav Scout 19D. This vid was funny as hell man. I think Basic will be a ton of fun. My dad was a Drill Sergeant at Ft Knox from 01-05 and he used to have me and my bro doing crab walks push-ups and hand stands all the time for little things like not sweeping the floor or taking out the trash on time. Woooo! GO USA

  • im leavin august 10th for fort knox as a 19k tank crewman. super pumped

  • @TheBlackBirdShow no haha your leaving august 10th for basic training not a 19k, your a basic soldier until ait is over haha

  • my brother leaves for basic on march 31 2010

hes going to be a ARMY ranger medic

  • Hey man love your vids... Im affraid that when i get my haircut im gonna get laughed at HARD... i got long ass hair. DS's are gonna be callin me hippy this hippy that. blah blah lol.

  • Same here. Only it's because i have 2 good sized moles my freakin head. Can't stand 'em.

  • ive got two moles on my neck.. (think Frankenstein bolts) this isnt gonna be good..

  • just cut it of first..

  • cut some of it first lol

  • Comment removed

  • Fort Leonard Wood D-787-14 2009

  • Fort Leonard Wood E-6-10 1987.

  • that wouldnt be Ramon torres you were talking about would it?

  • I dont remember, that was a long time ago.

  • i done basic and ait at fort lenowood aka fort lost in the woods its a coed base and to the girl that posted the comment they treat u just like they do the guys they ant no diffrence

  • yeah, im really anxious. Im enlisted as a human intelligence specialist, should be a really fascinating experience, I was even thinking of starting my own series of episodes showcasing my army experience. Its pretty inspiring stuff.

  • im leaving for basic in august, and this is really helpful, its good to hear someone talk about it in a way i can really follow. You should put out an episode about advice for female soldiers in the male perspective. (Since im a female soldier!) thanks this is great!

  • Sure thing. Yea I tell it like it is, you will love it and you will hate it, but you will never ever forget the times you have in basic.

  • i did my basic training in 2009 and ill tell you what, it is different. you get taken out of your nor,. you know, your every day routine and it is very over whelming, but you'll have fun. when you graduate, all the stuff that pissed you off or made you upset, you'll be able to laugh, it's a good feeling. good luck to you.

  • lol you said "doody"

  • How do you build rank quickly?

  • thanks talljim your sh*t is hilourous, makes me anxious to get to basic.

    thanks again bro

  • Thanks for watching lol

  • cool vids. I really enjoy watching them.

You recomend a book (not written by a recruiter) anout army bct?

  • question how do you know exactly what to do when you get off the reception bus to basic training when they are just chewing you out? im joining after i graduate in may

  • is there a difrence with natinal gaurd an the army

  • Same thing, except that Natl Guard trains one weekend a month and 2 to 3 weeks each summer. And the Guard protects the state, ie. California Natl Guard. The Active Army is international.

  • These videos are great. Thanks for posting them.

  • this is dumb. people make to big a deal out of basic. your probably not even infantry either. who cares about stories from basic i never thought it was anything to really talk about unless asked. try getting deployed then you got a reason to rant

  • I've been deployed more in my non commissioned officer status than you ever have been in your total military service.

  • Considering i leave for basic next january, its actually nice to hear someone talk about it in detail.

  • Obviously you dont know jack shit about the army MORORN

  • You messed up intentionally and got away with it? The your drill sergeant got the wrong job.

My drill sergeant had a killer stare that alone would make you feel 3 inches high when he only BEGAN to sound angry.

I'm 6'1", 190 pounds with a good deal of muscle, but when that guy yelled at me because I screwed up (and he didn't even use any bad language) I nearly f***cking peed my pants.

  • I forgot which mess up that was I did. lol I tried not to intentionally mess up in Basic. Like when I fell asleep it was by mistake, I didnt know I was asleep.

  • We used to put a soap bar inside a sock while holding down the daily " fuck- ups" with the green blankets from the four ends down against the bed and hit the hell out of them at night.. we would then run under the beds and hide.. we eventually got caught by CO and got burned bad, lol..

  • You've been watching too much Full Metal Jacket

  • yeah youre full of shit......The Army wouldnt tolerate that shit at all

  • f man i got 3 weeks

  • funny stuff man. thank you for sharing

  • im out of training and deployed right now my training was 20 weeks but it turned out to be 23 weeks

  • yep

  • does n e 1 know how long basic training is n the army

  • 9weeks

  • Thanks fam

  • depends on ur mos. im 11b. i had 14 week osut

  • 2 questions...what is mos & what is osut

  • ssgoku003.. MOS is Military Occupation Specialty and OSUT is One-Station Unit Training.

  • Thanks Wakeel, I appreciate it

  • MOS is you job basiccally. each job has a different code. For example: I'm Infantry so my MOS is 11B. A Medic is a 68W. OSUT is One Station Unit Training. Basically instead of doing 9 weeks of basic and then an additional amount of training to learn your specific job, its all condensed into one longer training cycle. Like Tankers have about 19 weeks of OSUT and Infantry have 14 weeks.

  • Thank you fam

  • you only had 14, im getting 17 weeks and 14 days plus airborne school

  • dude im pretty sure the 17 weeks is on your contract becuase they added airborne school onto it. Infantry OSUT is only 14 weeks long. (plus however long u are in reception) my contract said 17 weeks and 3 days.

  • nah they told me that my 17 weeks and 14 days was my infantry training at MEPs

  • well either someone fucked sumthing up, or they changed it and you're gunna be suckin' for 3 extra weeks at Benning. lol

  • i dont know but MEPs is so fuckin stupid i had to go 4 times before i even swore in

  • That extra 3 weeks is almost certainly including Reception holdover + company holdover.

  • 9 weeks of basic, plus one reception week

  • thanks fam

  • Did My BCT and AIT at Ft. Sill Oklahoma.

    13M Steel Rain Hooah!

  • im lovin talljim's stories.

  • LOVE your sroties man...sounds like the army we all know and love...

  • can someone please explain im thinking about joining the army and i wana be infantry after BCT do they send you to infantry school if so how long is it

  • its like 2 weeks.

you just stay at basic training for another 2 weeks really.

  • it's a total of 14 weeks for OSUT

  • Semper Fi USMC all the way.

I deeply respect all branches of the U.S. Military but USMC is right for me.

  • cool man glad thats why their the few

  • haha torres

  • I report to Fort Knox on May 19th for basic training. 19kilo

  • lucky.ft.knox is one of the best.i took basic at ft.polk,la. it's the armpit of the army

  • good luck man!
