Hi, I'm from that area but now live in CA. What Road is that on? I just Googled it and it looks like Oakland ave looking North. Funny, I'm responding from near Oakland California. I would have guessed Webber road but Webber has an overpass, doesn't it? My father lived in that area but worked for the Indiana Harbor Belt railroad in Chicago. He was a signal maintainer. Put us kids through school working overtime on jobs like this.

Great Catch you should've asked for a ride in the truck if they put those like trucks on the trucjks that would kind of be fun. I am just thinking about how many things you could do while railfanning like a cab ride a ride in those trucks. it may kind of sound stupid what I said but wonder whats in that truck like all the gadgets and devices.

Also the guys were just joking with each other, some of them were leaving for lunch and didn't want to be delayed by the gate work, lol! The work in this area will probably go on for at least a few days, they had one lane of the road shut down all morning while they were taking measurements of the crossing surfaces and started removing the road surface at the crossing to prepare for the work that will be going on.

They were doing other work to the crossing before the gate was taken down, the only guy working on the gate was the one hammering. The rest were doing work on the road part of the crossing, I think they are going to be replacing the crossing surface. The gate coming down was just a unfortunate incident that occured while the other work. They had it fixed less than a hour after the truck hit the gate. I looking towards the train, I heard the truck floor it, then there was a very loud bang.
