I do know it's Dhanyasi but when the videographer makes a typo, it's too much of a bother to get it changed, especially when I don't live in India and the videographer does; so I let it pass.
Hi! could anyone write the lyrics of this varnam down pleeeeease??? I need to learn this dance. I don't have a teacher because there are no teachers in my country :(
Love it! Great dancing. I didn't know one could get a diploma for dancing? Stupendous!
But as a Latina, I have a question.
All those dances depict the antics of the gods. The dancer has some sort of jewelry on the ears, that make her look otherworldly, like the ears of an elf. Perhaps this depicts the ears of a god, far back in history?
Apparently it helps with hearing, and blocks out loud noises. The jimiki dangling from the end of the earring supposedly helps with the dancer's balance. All the bridal jewelry have specific meanings and purposes, but I don't know how true all of it is. Hope that helps.
I don't mean to be insulting, but usually you need to sit lower while doing steps. My teacher would say I was practically standing.

I just uploaded the initial bit of the varnam- it is too long to upload in full. The vocal singer is K Hariprasad from Kalakshetra.

about 35 minutes- they are usually 30-45 minutes long; some can be customised and made shorter
