  • I don't mean to be insulting, but usually you need to sit lower while doing steps. My teacher would say I was practically standing.

  • wow..im 13..im learning this since i am grade 6.

    thanks for uploading it

  • the raaga is Dhanyasi, not dhayasi..thanks.

  • @minisantu

I do know it's Dhanyasi but when the videographer makes a typo, it's too much of a bother to get it changed, especially when I don't live in India and the videographer does; so I let it pass.

  • this is really good! i would personally like crisper arm movements, though.

  • very good expressions, please upload the second part as well

  • shes so good and preety but i must say im better at varnam then her

  • Anyone has the lyrics fr this?

  • Can u upload the full dance please!!

  • I could not find this in DVDs on

    w w w . J a y Q . org

  • u get this in nrithya margam-Audio CD from Padma subramanyam and shyamalaa balakrishnan

  • Hi! could anyone write the lyrics of this varnam down pleeeeease??? I need to learn this dance. I don't have a teacher because there are no teachers in my country :(

  • wow! i was Hariprasad Sir's student. Can someone post more of this stuff?

  • This is beautiful, and I love K. Hariprasad! He is an amazing singer...I myself learn Classical vocal, and he is one of my favorites

  • Love it! Great dancing. I didn't know one could get a diploma for dancing? Stupendous!

But as a Latina, I have a question.

All those dances depict the antics of the gods. The dancer has some sort of jewelry on the ears, that make her look otherworldly, like the ears of an elf. Perhaps this depicts the ears of a god, far back in history?

  • Apparently it helps with hearing, and blocks out loud noises. The jimiki dangling from the end of the earring supposedly helps with the dancer's balance. All the bridal jewelry have specific meanings and purposes, but I don't know how true all of it is. Hope that helps.

  • this is such an awesome clip but i guess the part 2 is missing. who is the vocal singer ? and did you upload the second part?

  • I just uploaded the initial bit of the varnam- it is too long to upload in full. The vocal singer is K Hariprasad from Kalakshetra.

  • It is possible if I get the full set of this varnam please? If you have any link , could i have it please? Hope its not troublesome

  • you could aupload it in two parts!!! pleeeeeaseeee!!!!

  • how long is the varnam i'm curious because i know varnams are the longest piece in bharatanatyam. so yeah how long is it exactly.

  • about 35 minutes- they are usually 30-45 minutes long; some can be customised and made shorter

  • Yes it's me!

Well done Renuka and Subba! You should be very proud parents

    Nimmi

  • Outstanding!

    Congrats Dhriti
