We should expect a major update to all Mac products this year. Macbook, Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro and Mac Mini. I predict Quad Core i5 or i7 processors, more RAM and maybe some new awesome features. Also... new iPhone should be out soon as well. This should be an AWESOME year for Apple users.
@bathellfire no chance of new imacs or macbook pros(at least design wise) they upgraded the processors and my thoughts are it will be all about iphone and ipad.
@Cmac787 They should have an upgrade for Macbooks sometime in October. I hope they'll change the design a bit, even though i have a MBP15" and I like the unibody design. iPad is sometihng i am planning to get soon, once the hype settles down (I've seen an iPad and played with... liked it a lot, want to see iPhone OS4 on it). Also can't wait for the new iPhone.
... Not a sports car, an above average car! But if you pulled some strings and involved yourself with the yakuza, I bet you could get a Lexus for that price! ;)
Too bad that Apple has now focused their attention to ipad, ipod, etc.. and is leaving the mac pro behind, well, not behind per say, but is not really bringing out any new updates for it, as its not making Apple any real money.
I think out of all the macs, the mac pro's days are numbered.
Apple has a small professional user base, just like every other 'consumer electronics' business (clue is in the title). The revenues it gets from that market are going to be rather low.
I still think both the 2008-2009 mac pros are the best! But, it seems that Apple really isn't giving the mac pro, EXCEPT LAPTOPS and others, the given attention lately, as they believe the ipad and iphone + ipods are the future of Apple, which this leads me to believe that Apple isn't interested in bringing out an update to the mac pro.
Personally, the 3.2ghz Harpertown I own is fast enough for my needs.
In a few years, it might end up as a collector's item. I owe the G5 Quad a lot as without it, I could never have jumped to a 2006 mac pro, and in turn I thank the 2006 mac pro for allowing me to jump to the 2008 3.2ghz mac pro!
I am uncertain if I am going to get a 2009, as what I use my mac pro for I don't need nehalem based features though.

"The computer that high-end users have dreamed of" - Yes, but not for $2000+! I'm sure many people are with me when I say the Mac Pro is a great computer and I would love to buy one, but I'm not made of money.
Realize that this was cheap compared to the CHEAP MAKER when they came out, but realize that you're not remembering that these are for the high end users and high end pros. And SERVERS.
Now we have up to 96GB of ram who would need that besides people who want bragging rights.

I have had mine since 2008 and these machines are the best on the market.
I used to switch out my old PC every year and a half. The MAC PRO is a monster.

Maxed out Mac Pro is almost as expensive as it gets. You could get a premium car for that price!

Prenium car for around $25,000? Not really. Not here in the US, that is. A well-equipped Lexus or Mercedes will be roughly $55-70 grand

@Nadav34 err. The Mac Pro get's an update this year..
The Mac Pro 2008 or the Newest 2009 is still better than the iMac 27' i7. Until the iMac beats the Mac pro there will be an update.

@Nadav34 yeah their only improving their imacs, portables, and other stuff (apps, itunes ipod ipad etc.)

True... It's expensive as hell. If you don't need that much computer, it's better to go with the iMac. Still, great computer.
