@Knobbs1994 lol i have never heard of a silver arowana reaching of 4feet so you need to go look up some information theres a guy on mfk fourms that may have the largest silver arowana in captivity and her names big mama and shes about 3 ft and a half long
My dad used to have this fish for 8 eight years and it's not this big lol.I think this fish should be live for a decay .Anyway the fish my dad has already dead !.
you lied dude, this isn't the biggest arrowana. the biggest one lives in the amazon river and it would eat this puny looking arrowana for breakfast. don't write stuff that you made up. i hate that shit.
he is beautiful! i collect excotic fish, and i will say that this arowana is very healthy porbably around six to 6 an 1/2 feet long though you are correct there are many arowana in the world that are much larger. feral arowana grow much larger than captives or captive bred due to there need for survival. in the amazon the average length of the bull head arowana is aproximatly 8 feet long, though there have been various reports of sightings described to be twice the length of a grown man.
@sandballs8 the arapaima is in the family of the arowana but its not an arowana the arapaima mostly related to the african arowana which looks like the arapaima only smaller and stupider
I think it is funny that this it at a public aquarium or zoo when I can buy all the the fish and probably even the turtle at my local fish and pet stores.
Yes i agree with FarangBalls. a Arowana can and will grow up to 32 inches with in one year if it is will taken care of. I had owned one myself, it grow 31 inches with in one year.
do you know that i eat fish? for example SUSHI. And that i lke cookies for EX Oatmeal cookies. and that aliens are not real EX ok i admit i can't explain that but i can say that *L* LOL Look at that face. Watch me eat sushi. 100%
I had a silver arowana. I got it at walmart for 5 dollars as a 2 inch baby. in one years time it grew to 32 inches and I gave it to my frioend who had a 200 gallon tank. this still wasnt big enough as arowanas have a hard time turning around in an aquarium. they also develop drop eye disease in captivity. Arowanas really do not belong in aquariums at all.
baby silvers are super cheap..i got mine for $3..at a reputable aquarium store...
wal-mart does come across them occasionally, you'd be surprised...the retailers get arrows for as little as a dollar a piece when they buy 100+..crazy huh??
not being able to turn around?? they can turn on a dime..and drop eye is a result of poor diet, not jus captivity...you gotta switch up their diet, when i worked seafood dept., i would bring home scraps of salmon,shrimp,flounder..also fed him crickets, earthworms, just hella protien rich, low fat foods...never had drop eye..never had a problem...they are captive fish if kept by the right person...
yes 32" in one year. you are correct about the "right person" taking care of them. but only a few people can take care of one properly. so i dont recommend them for the home aquarium.
@FarangBalls Your full of shit, And they get the eye disease from poor water quality. Maybe you should spend more time taking care of your tanks then you do coming up with bullshit stories.
@xClawed It is the truth. look up as many south american arowana videos as you can. 90% of them will have drop eye. and my tanks are awesome. I have wild caught ram cichlids that are totally happy and spawn regularly.
I had one and gave it to a friend also who had an 175 gallon tank but he stopped growing and he's looking really good. I guess it depends what you feed them
i think i also seen a bigger arowana here in the Philippines as well...that makes it not the biggest ever.. but as you say... it in the World Guinness Record... maybe the judges haven't seen a bigger arowana... that's why it's the biggest... (for them)
Its not the biggest arowana yet... I know a petshop here in the philippines which owns a golden arowana that has a body that is twice thicker than that one on the video.

thats not the biggest rofl ur never find the biggest arowana in a tank when there kept in captivity they grow much smaller than they would in the wild the biggest ever arowana found is roughly 8.2ft. this fish is barely half lol
@marlo2784 I sense ignorance...I know this was a year ago and you may have become wiser since then, however a1dzcannon is correct in what he said. Look up Arapaima, a type of Arowana that averages easily over 6 feet, with the occassional 8 feet and slightly more. Second-hand source states a 14 footer was measured in the early 19th century but this isn't written in stone, so it's unconfirmed but 8 footers are not that uncommon in the wild.
@a1dzcannon i doubt there is an arowana that is anywhere near 8feet... maybe an arapaima (one of the worlds largest freshwater fish) can get that big but not an arowana... sorry bud...! i realize this post is late but just seen the vid haha

every fish normally lay eggs.. but u need a male fish to make the eggs fertile!

No, there are plenty of fish that are live bearers. Ineternally fertilized and born live with out egg.
There are also some species of fish which change sex if there is no male fish present to fertilize eggs.
