The key word is "suspects". I haven't seen the full clip of Obama but i find it unlikely that he said someone suspected of terrorism deserves no rights. He was far more likely referring to actual terrorists. Unless there is proof or substantial evidence that they are guilty the suspect should be given every right given to anyone else until enough evidence can be supplied. I think it is important to stop murderers, but ignoring rights because of what we suspect someone did just seems wrong.
I say interrogate them, get the knowledge, and instead of giving them the sweet release of death, chuck them into Gitmo where they belong.
People don't kill people willingly and indiscriminately, Monsters kill willingly and indiscriminately, and Monsters do not deserve human rights, and should be treated as monsters, and Monsters should be hunted, and eliminated.
contrary to you "terrorist chic" kids that've never done anything that matters. i have seen these "innocent" terrorists. and i agree they should have swift justice. but it should come from the barrel of my M4. why do you idolise this scum anyway seeing as they want no less than the death of everyone that isn't part of their organisation?
stop being so bloody insular and think about people that aren't American you small minded bigoted halfwitted brainwashed egotistical bible bashing god fearing fear mongering pitiful cretins
the patriot act is worded so that anyone that the government says is a terrorist (without any probable cause or evidence) can be detained and questioned without any rights. this guy better hope that obama doesnt want to lock him away for the rest of his life. He is speaking out against the government durning war time the patriot act is still in effect.
If what this sick mind advocates comes to pass, anyone who rightly or wrongly ever gets labeled a 'terrorist' can be treated in any way without any regard for due process or even humanitarian considerations. And so far that's what's happened in many cases when his view has prevailed, we now know. Abu Ghraib proved it but it went on in many other places too, it was not isolated, America tortured its prisoners. Every American should be ashamed of themselves, and it did NOT make us safer.
So, the actions of a few terrorists is deemed an 'act of war', but instead of being treated as such under the Geneva Conventions, they're reclassified 'illegal combatants'.
Except some people forget every 'terrorist' rotting at Gitmo is not necessarily guilty. Apparently some at least were framed by their enemies who collected rewards for turning them in. And the ONLY evidence against them is what their enemies said. This is not how Americans do things, we are supposed to be civilized.
Of course this is the way Americans do things. Which is why I am cheering our demise. America died in the Civil War when Lincoln fought for a more centralized government and won. Personally, I think that JFK was the first real president we've had since Andrew Jackson, and also the last one as well. We are the wicked witch of the west, long will she suffer and deservedly so for her sins. I cannot wait for the people to finally grow a pair and we revolt as we should hae done so long ago.
For far to long people talk a good talk and then do the exact opposite. When people say something I dont agree with and follow through with it I figure we have a difference of opinion. When people say something I do agree with and do something different we have a liar.
Im sorry if a few good apples get tossed with the rest of the rotten fruit. The people own this country and the politicians better wake up real quick.
All the more reason why this "war on terror" is a very bad policy. We need a exit strategy out of this war, it is costing us too much money that we can't afford. We need to think smarter about how we react to provocations & how to manage those provocations so we aren't duped into further terrible policies.
Look at North Korea for example, they are doing everything they can to lure us into conflict with them, they and China know full well that it is a great way to bolster them and weaken us...
Yes they do!!!......they deserve to get tazed 20 or 30 times then kicked in the face when they are on the ground handcuffed and then beaten some more with clubs by 5 or 6 guys on steroids!.....The they will be begging to be water boarded instead!!!!!! .......The liberal assclowns better wake the fuck up out of their fantasy land coma!!!
jkf: And you need to stop blaming newscastors and radio hosts for behaviours they had nothing to do with.
If there was proof for it it would be different but the ONLY people talking about it are those who wouldn't piss on their heads to put out a fire. Hence these people (of which you fit in with) are not fitting judges.
Foreign or Domestic Terrorist if caught engaging in acts of war against civilians do not deserve protection under our laws. They are terrorist and should be treated as such. If it is an American or Domestic terrorist it is treason to our country and they should be put to death under our federal law.
The irresponsibility and incompetence of this radical administration never fails to amaze me! In what world would this even make sense? Obama has already broken many promises since taking office. We need to make sure this broken promise, which would put our nation's security at risk, is one we won't allow him to break!

This is not to say we should not detain potential terrorists, i just think we should know for certain before they are treated like dirt

If it is war, then the Geneva Convention should be observed.
Treat prisoners like you want American prisoners treated.
TheJapanChannelDcom 2 years ago
But American prisoners don't get treated humanly, isn't that a violation of the Geneva Convention?

I wonder if this is a ploy by Obama to employ all the trial lawyers when the "criminals" appear in a U.S courts?
