During my Boston years in early 90's, I use to listen to Joe on Sunday nights I think, but can't remember what radio station it was. I'm real glad I found this channel. Thanks Joe!
@itsiks92 The back ground music is just back ground music that is played by his band. He usually does a radio show with a live ban backing his spoken word stuff just like this performance.
Is this the same man I heard while working the grave yard shift at Brewer's Dry Dock in Staten Island New York in 1977? He was broadcasting from somewhere in Manhattan that night. I was so impressed with his broadcast, I called the station. It was not a call in show, but the man himself answered (off the air) and spoke to me on the phone, even though I was a lowly security guard working at Brewer's Dry Dock in Staten Island New York. I told him I thought he was a genius. He said "thank you".
Joe Frank is a genius. His show in on in New York City on Sunday Nights on WNYC-AM. Check the station's website for more details. I love Joe's voice, writing, the band arrangements... all of it. I first heard him on WBAI-FM back in the day...
i bought a joe frank ipod with his entire radio shows loaded on it a couple of years ago. i listen to it nearly every day at work, it is the best thing i have ever spent my money on....blues singer, eye in the sky, escape from paradise, bitter pill, the sacred, bad karma, are all brilliant shows. his conversations with larry block are hilarious, how's that for a couple of acres and the runaway bunny renditions crack me up every time. one of the few originals around
I stay up every sunday night to listen to joe frank on 91.5 WBEZ chicago. I first heard joe one night sometime last year when driving home from my girlfriend's house on a rainy night. I Couldnt stop listening. Joe's haunting voice, his sharp wit and sarcasm hooked me, and I have not missed a single show in months. Thank you Joe. Thank you for bringing your creativity out for the world to experience.
@Ignantredneck Story with me. Exactly the same. Rainy night driving home from my girlfriend's apartment, listening to WBEZ at 11 pm, Sunday. I drove around aimlessly, just listening.
Great Stuff! ...love that background piece... I too want to know the name of it?

I was at this show!
It was clear that he meant something sacred to everyone there in the audience. You could just tell.
I want him to come back to Chicago- I'll see him every time.
