Have you ever visited the Normandy beaches, and how about the numerous cemeteries in France filled with US soldiers who died for us, the French. We honor the fallen US soldiers every year and have been doing so since WWII.

That's certainly true, but they did so only to square off with England - not so much to help Americans get independence. Although they did take the ideals back and commence their own revolution as a result.
