I acknowledge the majority of views is that "Dont' Braise yer eye" ...is actually Don't Raise yer eye...However, I prefer Braise. Braise is a cooking term--to heat up ...as in looking intensely with an anger (You Braise yer eye). It fits the songs intensity much better than ,...oh, hey,...don't hurt your eye over this trifle.

This song is intense, built around a difficult period of time for most kids--rife with conflict, growth, struggle, release, and realization.
