The first Templars where a small group of honest faith Christian soldiers. Some became corrupt when their numbers grew to the hundreds of thousand. They became the most powerful private military force in Western Europe. They where charged for Heresy by and English King who owed them money but could not pay. So he accused all Templars for heresy when some where just people of faith out to fight for a just cause. I do disagree with them creating the first banking system with interest charges.
