  • LOVE TAYLOR HICKS!!!!!! Awesome voice!! Awesome recording!!! Would like to see him and Casey Abrams sing on Idol!!!

  • i kinda liked this guy on Idol but this is like a turd someone left at my door on fire. Please delete this and do a version that does it justice.

  • His voice is so honost :) I admire that a lot

  • A remarkable performer. Someone who looks the way he does should be in the movies as a leading man.

  • matter of opinion, hotrod930. He's doing very well, just not the same way as Chris. Check your facts, buddy. He made 3 1/2 million dollars in the last 18 months; not too bad, huh? How much did YOU make?

  • He can somewhat sing but he did not deserve american idol thats why his record label dropped him look how good chris is doing....

  • @hotrod930 yes he deserved to win, the issue was that the x factor bods had already decided what sort of perosn THEY wanted to win and wrote an album etc around that. Then Taylor Hicks won and they were like 'WTF?!' thats why he didnt do well straight off x factor, because he was singing songs that werent for him

  • @UFBvoodoochild Just to correct you. Taylor won American Idol, not The X Factor. The X Factor is in Britain and just started its first season in the U.S. last week.

  • @oldikins i'm well aware of that fact, i meant to say american idol

  • Make that harp cry, baby! Taylor recently added the It's A Mans World tag again in concert to another song, and it was fabulous.

  • Would love to hear Taylor perform this in concert today. This was recorded back in the roadhouse days. Love the way he tags it - love the haunting harp.

  • Remarkably mediocre, but inoffensive. Except for the harp - that is offensive. Great song though.( Also medleys it with "It's a man's man's world," made famous by J Brown. )

  • Taylor hicks fans check out this vid of our guitarist and bassist playing on stage with him! He's an awesome dude (Just go to my channel)

  • Sounds like he feels passion when he sings this. Love it.

  • WoW! Leno can really hit those high notes. Good job J!

  • @slick0204

slicko, Don't know if Leno can, but Taylor Hicks surely can.

  • im seein him live tonigt

  • Cryin', sobbin' harp.

  • This is haunting. Taylor can put real pain into his voice and he makes the harp cry.. This is my favorite version of this song. Harp and guitar both great.

  • He's Hot, really HOT!!

  • Really first rate! Saw the pic from Grammy Camp, when Hicks sang "Naked in the Jungle", I wonder if he really sang that to the kids cause their expression was like no expression, maybe editing, a joke right? Too steamy for the lilliputians!

  • we need a complete soul album from Taylor..Love this!! True blues.

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm seeing him in a couple of weeks...I can't wait!

  • Love this song and Taylor did a great job.

  • i love this song! i love every cover of this song! but i think taylor really makes it sound soulful as it should be

  • Therapy. He's a healer on many levels. Prob could heal the rift between the North and the South.

  • Omfg this dude HAS SOUL Alright- he just did a Bill Wither and JAMES Brown version = MANS WORLD.. woosers.

  • Love the juice harp....great sound!!!!

  • GOSH, this is so beautiful and soulful..taylor hicks was the best idol of all time

  • I liked Kris Allen's version, but to me it doesnot come close to Taylor's. The big difference to me is Soul, Taylor's is so soulful, I love it.

  • Keep on, keeping on Taylor!!! I love this dude!!!

    2-0-5 forever!!!!

  • I love, love, this version , so soulful and original!

  • Alls i know is this blows away both the Sting and Kenny Rogers covers of this same song... The shallow individuals who produce american idol would prolly like to forget that Taylor Hicks was arguably the most original and talented artist to ever come off of that show..... The biggest complaint was that he "Just doesnt have the right LOOK"... Which i never quite understood since you LISTEN to music..

  • One of the best vocalists to come out of Idol. A pity we don't hear more from him these days.

  • No thanks on his version!

  • Man he never sounded this good on Idol. He is really good. Great rendition of the song.

  • This guy is great.

  • This guy is great.

  • Taylors emotional voice and that harp really make this something very special.

  • someone sang this on 'idol' tonight, and all i could hear was taylor's version in my head and heart.

  • By the grace of a friend, I heard this song for the first time about four years ago. It's the saddest sound I ever heard bleed out of a human throat/harp. Exquisite raw human emotion. God bless Taylor Hicks now and forever.

  • To Bad the Recording companies killed the American Idol Star!!!!! He needs to go back to his roots not this POP crap hes playing on the radio. It sucks. This is his style blues, acoustic and singer song writer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This white guy enough soul to sing this. good cover

  • outstanding! thank you

  • very nice, thanks for sharing! Loved taylor from the beginning of AI. Ditto to all positive comments about Taylor! I believe he'll have a career long after Kelly and Daughtry are no longer heard from...

  • NO! Much better looking than George Clooney . And look at the expressions on his face when he's singing and playing the harp. eeeeeeep!

  • nice Taylor

  • Taylor is Great... why don't we hear more of him on the radio? I would love it

  • The way Taylor sings this song makes chills run down my spine. Ü

  • Such a great singer and entertainer. I love Taylor's voice.

  • what a singer! Love you TH!

  • Good listen! Is there any way that you can add that last minute? I'd love to hear the full performance. Thanks...

  • I wonder why Tay doesn't add this to his setlist when he does acoustic gigs?

  • really beautiful

  • Such a talented musician. He has the most interesting and dramatic face. Sort of resembles George Clooney.

  • great version

  • He looks like George Clooney!!

  • Taylor is clearly very talented musician. Well done

  • This is the best version of this song that I have ever heard. Taylor is so talented.

  • if you think thats good, check out shawn smith ain,t know sunshine when she gone the best i ever heard great job

  • WHEW! the best!!!

  • Best cover of this song yet. Awsome...

  • love him...he always soothes my heart. Amazing talent.

  • Rodney Ho says Taylor is the "most distinctive" artist to come out of American Idol. It means you will not hear the same ole out of TH.........ever.

  • Love this version and the video

  • Greatness.

  • I've seen souless black faces, soulful white faces & vice versa. SOUL IS IN THE SOUL BABY!!

  • a unique voice that still touches my heart.

  • Tay should sing this on American Idol season 9 as guest on FINALE

  • The acoustic show he just did in Detroit is more back to his roots! I love his harp playing.

  • His voice would fit very melancholy, soulful, bluesy songs. I love it; very emotional. Like "swing low, sweet chariot" or "georgia on my mind", has he done those?

  • He has done Georgia alot. It is on his Early Works album. You can find video of him doing it at different venues........here on YT. Don't think he has done SLSC. Try watching his Happier With Him or Somehow.

  • Considering this song was recorded when he was alot younger, his interpretation is amazing.!

  • Kris and Taylor have COMPLETLY different takes on this song but that doesnt mean that one has to suk..

  • This would be perfect if he didn't screw up the lyrics.

  • I hope there aren't too many purists like you in the world. How boring if all songs were interpreted the same way. Taylor has a special way about him.

  • oh. wow, I also really like how simple and raw his interpretation - haunting.

  • I loved Taylor Hicks on AI... this just performance just cemented him permenantly in my heart. This is now my fav Taylor Hicks performance.

  • You know, this ain't too bad, raw, simple, before all the glitz on American Idol (which i totally despise). Yeah, feelin this fo sho

  • Comment removed

  • Just wonderful!!

  • Kat can't play the harp..................j/k

  • Except this is a Taylor Hicks video. He has his own version...........if I wanted to watch Kris, I would watch and then leave. But then, I don't do comparisons as artists are free to interpret. Which is what they do except in pop culture.

  • Amen!!! I don't understand why to take the time to seek Taylor's videos from here if he sucks so badly??? There is lots of music that I don't personally like but I really don't have the time or energy to seek those songs from here and then badmouth them. Life's too short.

  • Double Amen! I came here after hearing Bill. and Kris. Sting, Jose. et al. I'm just learning to play/sing it and wanted to listen to some different interps. I was pleasantly surprised to see a version by Taylor. Soul Music. It's what he does. Well. 8) to paraphrase Carlos Santana (I think 8) '...would you ask a painter why they used red instead of green?' ~ Blessings & Peace
  • Right on.

    See below 8)

  • Well, I love both Kris and Taylor and their versions. They are both talented musicians and great people, Kris fits more contemporary market though.

  • @nemoes11 and thats the problem. dont get me wrong i;ve just gone and listened to Kris version and it was good, the guy is talented and has a great voice but all it is is contemporary. To be honest give this song to ANY mainstream artist with a decent voice and you'll get exactly the same, a fancy rendition of a song that doesnt need to be. Taylor Hicks doesnt try to do too much with this song, and its that coupled with the high level of feeling he puts into the song that makes it far superior

  • @angecookdesai This is a version that stands out on itsown. thanks.

  • LOVED IT !!!!!

    Great interpretation...very unique.

    Love Taylor !

    Go Taylor, go!!!!!

  • Right on! 8)

  • I just love Taylor and his unique version of this song. I guess Taylor will always divide opinions, but I really don't understand ppl still whining about him winning American Idol. Daughtry ended up selling multiplatinum despite of losing to Taylor so get over it!!!

  • a good voice does not a good singer make

  • Amen to that! Saw him live in San Antonio and the dude puts on a great show; puts a lot more heart and soul into performing than many....

  • Damn I forgot how good he was!!!! I hope he is doing well.

  • soul patrol

  • These people that don't like Taylor, spend a lot of time listening to his singing. hmmmmm...interesting.

  • lol, Taylor's haters spend more time hating on Tay and his fans then loving their preferred acts. Weird!!!

  • Oh my, as they said in Spinal Tap 'Same key I think'. Dude is all over the place with pitch!

  • Taylor made a special version of this song with his harmonica and voice... he is unique!.

  • go on now !!!! thats music

  • This is beautiful.

  • Continued...Taylor is unique. People are too shallow to appreciate real talent. See how successful Hanna Montana is. Did she sing, or just good marketing, like McDonald. McDonald is successful, but have you heard anyone said it is a good restaurant?

  • The only season I watched American Idol was when I saw the preview of Talor Hicks singing and dancing on the stage. The preview was only about seconds, but his voice stricks me. After that, I barely watched that show again, just like any season before Taylor Hicks. Oh, by the way, the only time vote for American Idol was when I vote for Taylor Hicks. He is unique. It is not his problem that he cannot be commercialized. It is the problem of the market.

  • taylor seems best suited for ray charles type songs i like when he lets loose with the harmonica and goes nuts

  • good tune

  • Great !

  • I like this version better:

    watch?v=bZYYPo0w8w8&feature=Pl ayList&p=D9014BC7249D540D&inde x=3

    WAY BETTER!

  • Love Taylor.. has a lot of soul...Ray did the song great too

  • I don't think your comment is racist, but I do disagree. If you got soul, you got soul. The beauty of soul music is everybody can relate to it in some way. Can't put people in a box. Especially artists.

  • ARom101.... you must have never heard of Elvis... your statement is nieve and ignorant. Last I checked, souls don't have a color.

  • Elvis stole black music....

  • he was a hero to most .....

  • BILL WITHERS wrote this when he was working at an airport handling luggage as I recall....I first heard Bills version on the AM radio and was mezmerized by the song...and never tired of his version.

  • "bazazz?" wtf it's pizazz

  • im wrong bill withers did right it srry you all can slapp me lol

  • this song isnt by bill withers jose feliciano wrote it

  • ....its written by Bill Withers...

    Jose probably did a cover

  • The color of your skin does not determine whether you have soul. Its the things one faces through life that builds or breaks that soul.

  • that comment is based on racism and ignorance

  • How is it racist? I said the guy can't sing Bill's song, he's not up for the task.

How is it ignorant? I'm the most open minded person, ever.

  • AROM---IF you listen to Kris Allen"s (from this yrs idol) version you would be impressed.Kris did a better job than this.He had alot more soulfullness to it,by a mile

  • He's the greatest...awesome Taylor......

  • 3rd Greatest After Ray And Cooke. LOL

  • yeah, great voice, amazing cover! i'm a huge bw fan, an love original, but mournful harp solo really added extra dimension. couldnt really make out guitar solos -shame.

  • amazingly beautiful

  • Wonder how old Taylor was when he did this. Anyone know? I know it was before Idol.

Can't wait for his new cd, the video and tour. Tay in concert = GOOD TIMES!!!

  • Update on the album. Now moved to March 10. He will have a single off it in Feb. though and is going to be shooting a video in Chicago this month, while appearing in Grease. He sang the NA today for the Eagles-Vikings game, before the Grease show. He keeps plenty busy.

  • absolutely amazing. How adorable is he on top of it? Good Lord !!!!!

  • Not as good as Bill.. but then again nothing ever really compares to the original when it comes to Blues

  • thanks so much. checked the tour schedule and am hoping it will come my way eventually and marked feb. 10 for the new cd. taylor does bring sunshine with his songs.

  • a southern boy whose voice pierces the soul.

where is taylor? i have the two cds, but miss seeing him. oh, to hear 'sunshine' in person!

  • He will be touring with the broadaway musical Grease starting Dec 2. He will also have a new album released Feb 10th. He will also perform his new sigle during his Grease performance. He will also be performing his music at Rams Head in Annapolis, MD on February 07.

  • Does anyone know where I can a copy of this recording. I love it....didnt know he had it in him.

  • I will send you a message with the info you need.

  • i wish he would make more music. taylor is an awesome talent. nice cover.

  • Most soulful harmonica solo I've ever heard. And I'm a big blues fan.

  • You can really feel the music can't you? This is the first time I've ever heard him sing this and it really moved me. Amazing.

  • He moves me.

  • Heart n soul

  • awesome, I miss taylor, he is the best!

  • wow

  • Amazing....Taylor

  • Wonderful!!

  • Done....Thanks again!!!!

  • I see jimsin has sent you a link. I have one too.

  • Thanks!!! That would be awesome!!!!!

  • I found it, I will send you a message.

  • Can you add to your friends list so I can send you the link.

  • That would be awesome!!!!thanks.

  • It might take me a couple days but I will see what I can do.

  • I am stunned! True talent......at its best!!! Where can I buy this recording at?!!!

  • This one is not on his albums. This one was recorded live in a bar. I can try to get you the mp3 for it if you would like.

  • Just amazing!

  • Wow, that was great. I had heard folks rave about Taylor's Ain't No Sunshine, but I never heard the whole thing.

  • Thanks for any music of Taylor Hicks.

I have always loved Michael Mcdonalds voice.

I pinned it the first week.

    Ilove this version also.

  • "I had to cut a minute of the song."

    What?! Why??

  • I love his interpretation! Thanks for uploading the audio. He's a soulman.

  • Listen and you can hear the harp weeping, the most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard! Taylor's vocals are stunning !

  • I think taylor needs to focus on soul type songs instead of the pop crap that american idol made him sing.

  • I think he has a great vocal talent; he only needs to change his look and make a hit. His voice is superior to many garbage singer rappers.

  • Take a look at the newest stage door video from Grease. He looks just fine!

  • Thanks a great deal for posting this magnificent take on Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" that also carries elements of James Brown's "It's A Man's Man's World". From the somber/dark opening guitar chords until the hushed ending, Taylor absolutely carries this song along with justice, originality, personality, and (most of all) skill. As fans could see on American Idol, this guy loves the Soul music and performs it well. Not an easy one to do, but Taylor makes it seems easy. Harmonica was tops.

  • Beautiful shots!Good selection. Favorite live download.
