At least he did it in the upper register...waiting for him to start I was like, "Please don't do it as a tenor...please don't." I 'm guessing this was probably done for a small concert type deal, b/c a child of his age should NEVER sing such an aria. If I find a video of him singing Nessun Dorma I'll probably die lol.
Oui, Louis ... Les Patzer sont vraiment drôle (mais étant donné que vous pouvez ne pas). Ce n'était pas non plus correctement organisé. D'accord, mais super cool ;-)
Louis' mother is English and his father is French. They live in France and I have heard Louis sing in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Latin. You have every right to be amazed!. He turned 14 in the middle of May..
He has been trained in the bel canto style which means, among other things, that when his voice changes to an adult register, it won't affect the quality of his voice or his ability to sing.
Indeed! I´ve studied this video many times, I notice that he cares an expression of lightness in his face, with a dose of a very british way to look and be funny at same time serious. Look at his face between seconds 13-15, no wonder the guy had a little laugh.
He sure enjoys himself and the music, while being solemn! Very rare at his age.
At 108, is Louis using his hand to tell the orchestra to get softer? But then they do so, and Louis nods his appreciation and thanks. Is this what's going on here? If so, this is incredible self-assurance and dramatic sophistication for someone who is 12.
I watched a Pavarotti video of this as soon as I finished listening to Louis; L-A's performance doesn't have Pavarotti's sheer physical power, but it is much more accessible emotionally. And he absolutely nails that final vocal run just as fluidly and note-perfect as Pavarotti.
In my opinion, this recorded version, in spite of the inconvenient of the applauses, is much better than the one he played at home. The reason is accustic properties of the church. Made his voice even sweeter to hear.
His voice has grown to be much warmer and more beutiful...he sang really good also when he was ypunger, but as all treblevoices even his voice is more beutiful ju closer he is to the voicebreak. But I think he must think about how he moves his arms and hands, its to much, I have play really much amatuertheater and know how hard it is for some actors to not move their arms and legs to much...Alexander is a good singer and he schould trust on that.
Are there any videos available of Louis participating in dance performances? I have read that he is not only an extraodinary singer, but a great dancer as well.
I have seen only one video of him dancing, and that was several months ago. It was filmed from a great distance, and was difficult to see very well. It was removed from YouTube a long time ago.
I see what you mean about his moving his hands and arms too much, but his movements are gentle and solicitous, not grandiose and histronic, so I enjoy them. I think this is an inwardly strong, outwardly gentle young man with, probably, a strong and deep spirituality. That may be what makes his performances so effective; something much larger than mere words and music is being communicated.
I've listened to most of Louis Alexander's videos, and he is magnificent. In a way, it's a shame that he has to grow up.
I don't know anything about the choreography or musical direction of performances like this, and I wondered about something: At about 1:08, Louis makes a subtle downward gesture with his right hand. Was he signalling the instrumentalists to reduce their volume, or stop playing? About six seconds later, one or two people started to clap prematurely. Were they misled?
No definitely not. He was just gesturing in time with the music, which was probably a recording not a live orchestra. The mislead clapper just doesn't know the story. The pause is precisely as required in the script. Watch the clip of Luciano Pavarotti singing the same aria.
VivaYoungTalent: Thank you very much for your prompt and kind reply.
I am grateful that I can watch and listen to Louis --- his talent, and singing and dancing abilities are exraordinary. He must have great self-discipline, dedication, and a terrific work ethic to develope his potential to such an extent and to achieve so much.

The funniest thing in this perform is the way he looks to the audience´s attemp to applaud him, at 1:15 - 1:19. I find it most amusement!
And the way he gesticulates, gracious!
Well done Louis-Alexander.

written for a tenor !
It´s not congenial to this boy...

I can only say I agree. He is very well trained, and he is also a very sophisticated professional, indeed.
