I recently saw the interview Betty did w/Robert Osbourn w/TCM. She seemed to be such a sweet lady who wore her heart on her sleeve. She had to overcome alot of personal demons and from an article I read, when she passed on she still had unresolved issues with some of her family. What a great talent she was---She could do it all.
Betty made a wonderful record of this song for Capitol Records. She was an outstanding ballad singer. She had everything--looks, great voice and song interpreter, excellent dancer (she kept up Astaire, or did he keep up with her?), and unique energy. She was never able to overcome her disastrous childhood and that colored her entire life.
An Oscar nominated song.

Much as I like this, I prefer Vaughn Monroe's rendition.
