  • My mother has gone to heaven, my daddy has gone down below. Very strong lyrics.

Thanks for posting this one, Marcus. Would you happen to have the Tex Ritter version? I seem to remember it was very popular way back then.

  • @glipzik Yes, I have the Tex Ritter version and will post it soon. Wonder how he KNOWS that his father has gone down below?

  • @oldtexasmusic take a guess, he probably knew what was right and wrong ,

  • @LES6723 That was probably what he was doing but only God knows. Anyway, God tells us to judge not lest we be judged.

  • @oldtexasmusic he probably knew his dad.

  • @LES6723 Of course he probably did but that does not mean he knows where his father's soul isresting. Only God knows that. Also, God's word tell us that some of the ones that reach heaven will be a surprise to some and some that do not reach there will be a surprise to some of us. God grants salvation by His grace and NOT through our works.

  • Thanks for posting this great version. When I listen to Gene Autry's voice, I feel like I'm in Texas! This is a great one, love it!

  • @justmusicandme Glad you like one of the oldies. Gene was my hero when I was in the 5 to 10 year old ages.

  • @oldtexasmusic Mine too from the 5yr to 72 range.

  • @LES6723 LOL!!! I suppose I should have admitted to it myself. Thanks..

  • Another great one, Marcus! Better than Gov. Davis I think. Thanks.

  • @bhstoneman You could be right. They are so close that I'd hate to pick one over the other. LOL!!!

  • Gosh songs meant something back then, didn't they Marc.

    Thanku for another super post.

  • @geena6 These same songs mean the same thing now, it is just that there are many that do not even LISTEN.

  • His version of this one just gets to me Marcus! Thank you*****S

  • @jtls8 Yes, I think it is as good as Jimmie Davis's version.

  • This song has been covered by many singers, each of them singing it in their own unique style. Gene Autry's rendition stands up well in such illustrious company.

    George

  • @pastore0506 Very well put, George. Thanks.

    Marcus

With a name like Orvon,I too, would change my name to Gene (to prevent the other boys from beating me into a pulp during recess...lol!) Thanks for yet another rewarding listening experience1 These vintage offerings are what I enjoy best.

    Pax,

    Pretty Boy Floyd

  • @stewballmax3 Hey Pretty Boy, I too, enjoy these vintage offerings most. The only thing different with us is your pursuit of a life of crime. Your redeeming factor is your love of music. LOLL!!
