Growing up, I remember fondly that Boy George was one of my favorite heroes of music. He never let anyone rule who he was, or what he did. I deeply respect him for his individuality; his music; his messages, in my opinion, of equality for all. Plus, he has an amazing voice!! I'll always hold him in high regard. I remember this well, I was one of the skeleton children (around 5:50 in the video). Our school was invited to take part together with other local schools. I remember walking at the back near the tank, chatting to the band - great guys if I remember right. I also remember the cold egg McMuffins!

People always viewed Boy George as a character, and i guess that's so many failed to take him seriously for a change, because this was a serious song with a serious message. The theme behind this song is truly timeless!

This is so interesting to see now again after 25 years ! As a 40 year old, who grew up on 80s music, they said crazy stuff about Boy, his costumes and his antics... today, it's Lady Gaga who they think is "weird". :) Not only do the fundies think Gaga is a Satanist because of her outrageous videos, but they used to think the same about Boy, I am sure back then... the Moral Majority. Now these same jesus freaks say that Gaga worships Satan. Some things never change.

The guy at the begining is QUENTIN CRISP saying "Popularity Breeds Contempt". This was going to be the name of the record Martyr Mantras. In the uk 12" of  Am I Losing Control at the back of the records says --Form the forthcoming album "Popularity Breeds Contempt".
