  • WJAR around this time used two freelance wx people (Ron Anderson & Bill Gile, who eventually became their weekend AM met in 1997)

None of the local stations seem to use freelance mets anymore for some reason.

I remember Mark Rosenthal filled in a few times during the late 90's (while he was still doing his gig on WCVB)

Jeff Latham & Jim Corbin also did freelancing around 2003 for WJAR.

  • Could you come up with a WJAR news close from this era with the full close theme? Thanks.

BTW, whatever became of Carnell Lake, the seemingly-always-drunk meteorologist? Thanks. He may have been Providence's version of WABC's Tex Antoine.

  • Videonut33, thats a OLD logo of News 10. I watched the station recentely and i'm sure its a different logo. BTW, its a NBC station.

  • Doug White, you are sorely missed. May you rest in peace for all eternity.

  • I wonder if anyone can post any clips of the 6:00 "News Watch 10" from April 9, 1992? That was the one where then-sports reporter Joe Rocco was tossed from McCoy Stadium during a game when trying to do a live report! I've seen the clip several times, and it's very funny!

  • In response to videonut33's post, news stations often use similar or identical logos in their broadcasts. It's usually the decision of the main branch or network heads, if they want their stations to look a certain way or put out a certain image. I don't think anyone stole anything. :)

  • Doug White kinda got on my nerves.

  • It shoul be noted that this was recorded on the very first day Jay Leno hosted the Tonight Show. Doug White mentions that in the begining of the clip.

  • Doug White's hair is starting to become white

  • "Mo's having a bad night." Yeah, Mo Vaughn was the Man, but he completely fell from grace. It's a shame.

  • that station took WCAU'S current logo!

They should've kept their previous logo instead taking WCAU's 1995-present station id.

  • Nice set. Too bad we don't hear any of their news theme.

  • In case you're wondering what theme was used, it was Gari's Great News Package.
