  • Thank you for the documentary. Let me add to the discussion, from Letters To a Mixed Race Son. FrankERobinsonJr

  • obama is black. he cant choose white cause he dont look white. -_-

  • that little boy has light skin but his features look differnt then his father when ur mixed I dont know back when I was young I know Mariah Carey was black theres always a give away just like me im A quarter indian but 75 percent black and people look at me and ask me if im mixed with something othe rthan black will by right my mom Is black and indian u tell some1 more full blooded from someon bi racial box I DONT THINK ANY APPLICATION SHOULD BE A RACE BOX ON SHEETS

  • Enough of the RACE GAME. Technically : SINCE there is no such thing as race (There are NO HUMAN SUBSPECIES). Half-breed would be the most correct term... even if it is more politically incorrect, because it does describe the process of which your speaking. The best term might be mixed-heritage because it doesn't include the FALLACY of the concept of race, but it does imply the interbreeding of people of more than one heritage. "Black people are the genetic parent of ALL human beings!"
  • @TheStarGardian you are wise

  • Listen people...

Race as we know it is a myth, a social construct. A social

construction or social construct is any phenomenon "invented" or

"constructed" by participants in a culture or society, existing

because people agree to behave as if it exists or follow certain

conventional rules. "The Social Construction of Reality" (1966).

"One example of a social construct is social status!"

  • Americans are already a Mutt race.

  • Anybody know the song in the beginning?

  • this question got most often just sometimes made me feel different and not normal when blacks, white, or hispanics would ask me why is it that both your parents are black and your white skinned and i just said i dont know but as i got older i researched it and ask my mom some question about her heritage now and then and thats how i found out that i was multiracial but only with her because my dad is just black.

  • @34099832 thats wierd for a "hispanic" to say that generally since we come from countries were the majority of the population is of mixed decent from europe africa and asia and the pre colombian america in a very large spectrum it is normal in a latin american family for the family to be a variety of colors and hair textures and features i mean hispanic is just a language group not a race of people or one single group

  • @djluckypierre Hispanics that were cuban or something mixed with white.

  • @34099832 Hispanic is NOT a race. There are blacks, whites, Asians, and mixed people in Cuba. The majority of the population in Cuba today is mulatto and black, along with a significant and sizable white minority!

  • i mean in general the u.s is really late latin america has been mixing at large rates for centuries lol well if u exclude argentina uruguay and southern brazil etc

  • im multiracial so is my brother because my mom is mixed with black, white, arawk indian, and panamian spanish blood. But my dad is African American, my mom is came from the bahamas to america because the bahamas was her homeland and in the part of the bahamas where she lived there is a lot of racial mixing. my mom is brownish but my dad is dark black. I took more genes from my moms white side of her bahamian family and came out light yellow skinned with european facial features.

  • As for blacks thinking "it's just an excuse to break away from your blackness" Seriously? Grow up. I'm not JUST black. Calling me JUST black does offend me in a way becuase I take it as saying my mom is not my mother or half her DNA doesn't exist in me. THAT is offensive

  • My mother is German, Irish, Scottish, English and Cherokee Indian. My father is African American and Blackfoot Indian. I gets asked very frequently if I'm Brizillian, Dominican, Egyptian, Spanish, and even Sicilian. It's a fun guessing game for me, I'm not denying what I am; I'm watching you go through the alphabet to figure out what I am =]

  • i'm multi-racial and that little boy is about the same complextion and hair type as my brother!

  • YOu want to further break apart the black race huh by creating a box that says bi-racial. They only validates the desire for bi-racials to escape the race their running from. I'm not worried. Europeans started this fire called racism, our reaction to it is just the smoke. Are you happy white people? Not only have you destroyed the earth but now you corrupt her children. Shame on you all. Time to rise to the new earth.

  • @filmtress what are you talking about? there is no talk of running from a black identity its a talk of not denying the children the fact that they have a non- black parent and to fully embrace the fact that they are a union of race and culture not further segregate myself

  • @filmtress its a very american thought you have that any person with any amount of black decent is black when obviously there is a diversity and difference between full afican americans and these multiracial children some of whom would get laughed at if they considered themselves black.......like myself

  • @djluckypierre No they wouldn't get laughed at. By who? Whites, no matter what percentage you are black considers you black! They made up the rule of the 1% drop rule just do a little research. Blacks don't laugh at blacks so you must be talking about either your family or friends. Fact is that many bi-racials still have race shame. I don't know why. You are prividged to have black in you. Black is where it's at baby and if you're ashame then don't claim black at all.

  • @filmtress you sound like a reverse KKK. >_> If you're half black and white, and you look mostly white, but only identified yourself as black, people would laugh at you. I've witnessed the reverse situation, where an indian friend said she was black and got weird looks. She doesn't know her heritage and is convinced she is more black then indian, when she doesn't even look the least bit black. And no, many mixed blacks are not ashamed of their black heritage. You have a very old mindset.

  • @yahyal0v Wow, the video said it all. Didn't you hear it? It stated that "Whites see multi-racial to mean the pollution of the white race." THERE YOU GO! They sure do. Where are the whites who are claiming to accept bi-racial children as white? So who's has the old mindset?

  • @yahyal0v One thing I know is that bi-racial people when feeling the pinch of racism from society. like NOW, are always looking for an escape. I hope you find it. Because many of you 'fence straddlers' aren't worthy to claim the rich culture of blacks. You're ashamed of the stereotypes? Well, I hate them too. It's done by evil people to make us look moral-less and uncouth. It's a falsehood and God will get them for doing it but in the mean time don't buy into it. But we will be separating soon.

  • Con't #2 - Studying Egyptian technology will explain a lot to you. It's the melanin that facilitates your ascension. Without it, you can only go so far up. Those of us with a high vibration will rise higher than those without it or have very little. The Ether is dark matter.

  • @filmtress oh, and the one-drop rule doesn't even exist anymore! that was under the racial integrity act in 1924. 1924! and that law was first made in southern states like tennesse. so back at what djlocky said, what are you taking about? that confirms you have an old mind set. are you a time traveler or just old!? XD

  • @filmtress that's a very hypocritical statement. I'm half african, but I'm also indian, chinese, and a little carib indian, irish, and german. So you're saying I should only call myself black? Aren't I denying half of my heritage doing that? Europeans already know that they screwed up, that's in the past. You're the one with a corrupt mind. The world is getting better with every generation and I hope you don't corrupt the next one.

  • Happy to announce that we recently completed a distribution deal with Bullfrog Films!!!! Over the last 36 years, Bullfrog Films has become the leading US publisher of independently- produced, DVDs & videos.

  • they is no race their is human race.their is no european,no african no asian

their is no culture,no language their is only human langauge,

  • what's the name of the track that plays at the beginning?

  • change gon' come" rap re-mix by MzMuffin - on the real, how's u feel?

  • The part about Hispanics seeing multiracial as a bad thing isn't true. Latin America is full of multiracial, more so than the US, and they still hold on to their rich cuture and heritage.Take for example the Mexicans, their rich culture is composed of European and Indian characteristics. Also, the majority of people in Mexico are what are referred to as "Mestizos," the Mestizos are probably the most diverse people on the planet, they have European, African, Asian, and Native American % in them.

  • There use to be a box that represented mixed raced. Mulatto existed as an official census category until 1930. Most Black Americans, although majority claim 100% Black, are at least 20% European & 80% African (not part native american as most claim to explain exotic features). You do not have to have one Parent that fits the description of White and the other to fit the Description of Black to be mixed raced, mixed raced multi racial couples have have been repopulating the earth for centuries.

  • ****We won "Most Socially Engaging Feature Award" at the Eugene International Film Festival.***

  • Well done Brian for winning the award

  • BLACK PEOPLE STOP MIXING YOUR BLOOD . ALL THAT COMES OUT OF MIXING IS MORE PROBLEMS IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY

  • @DiversityisAdversity I am biracial and find that offensive

  • @anival2sorto I DON'T CARE IF YOU FIND IT OFFENSIVE BECAUSE THAT'S MY OPINION . THANK YOU

  • @DiversityisAdversity Lol racist :p

  • @DiversityisAdversity well, it's our opinion that we find it offensive. :)

  • *** 2010 Official Selection - Eugene International Film Festival

    Eugene, OR***

  • it's 2010...and there's such a growing amount of interracial couples, and mixed babies, and yeah...it's not ABNORMAL anymore. but that doesn't mean that those mixed children or interracial couples don't still go through racial problems. You know...racism and ignorance still exists, and just because more people are mixing doesn't mean it'll go away. sadly....

  • I stick it into whatever looks good to me (And number of beers). I have 5 kids all by different nationalities. Black, white, spanish, Filipino, and Japanese. I'm currently searching for a russian for no.6. Any takes?

  • mixing is not good.

who wants to have no identity?

the difference now is kids are being brainwashed into believing white is good so they chase whites.

the mixed kid hates the black side and tries to claim the white side.

no one accepts it sucks. But back in the 1800s they were told you are black and you are not white. they married blacks and problem solved.

  • Yeah but the problem is that this isn't just blacks and whites, this is part hispanic, asians, blacks, and arabs too

  • @keinaan12345 perfect comment

  • @keinaan12345 I like having many heritages. To me, I have many identifies. I also do not believe white is better, nor hate my black side. And for everyone who is mixed with black, native indian, east indian, and/ or chinese, move to trinidad. It's very mixed their and everyone is accepted and they're no race problems. :>

  • Here a couple of examples of what LATIN really means. Just in case, for any non stupid US american willing to learn.

    - A member of any of the Latin peoples, or those speaking chiefly Romance languages, esp. a native of or émigré from Latin America.

    - denoting or pertaining to those peoples, as the Italians, french, spanish, Portuguese, etc., using languages derived from Latin, esp. the peoples of Central and South America: a meeting of the Latin republics.

  • uh, excuse me idiots. Latino or hispano is not a race. Dont you get it ? If you want to set apart or label people with amerindian ancestry just try to use another term.

A person's country of origin or spoken language does not define its race

Is that too hard to understand you bunch of ignorants ?

  • I have seen a few Multiracial boxes in the last few years but not EVERYWHERE. So I still continue to check Black, White and Native American. Until they get the hint that there are people out there like me who needs this.

  • **2010 Official Selection of the Inaugural Portland Maine International Film Festival**

  • Race is where your ancestors are from and what you look like. Race is not a simple social construct.

  • ok id like to say no one discriminates against us they discriminate against our parents for mixing and its not discrimination, its ignorance

  • It's funny how all of the in-between races (ie Middle Eastern, Asian, Latino, Native American) want to mix with white and not black. They aspire to be like us. I find this very flattering.

  • Oddly some if not most Latinos/Latinas at this time may likely have an African heritage. Maybe even for the Middle East.

  • @Thedarksecret1 I find it corrupted.

  • President Obama is black. Make no mistake.

  • "President Obama is black. Make no mistake"

    Wrong. That was the mistake.

  • ****** 2010 OFFICIAL SELECTION - POLITICS on FILM , Washington, DC ******

  • *****We are a Golden Ace Award Winner of the 2010 Las Vegas Film Festival - Woot Woot !!! *****

  • Why in god's name do we still find the need to identify ourselves according to notions of race? What purpose does this serve and who decideds what qualifies a person to belong to which group? Why can't we all be AMERICAN? Its understood that we are a nation of immigrants. Why can't we just be American and recognize that fact?

  • There are people out there who like to make it easy on tracing they're roots, let alone have something for genealogy conveniency.

  • It really depends on what features are dominant in a person. Like my friend used to look asian when she was young but now she looks black so she identifies as black. Same goes for me since i am multiracial.

  • I pitty you....

  • I'm an example of a multiracial Hispanic. I am part indigenous, part italian of mexican born parents. i was born and raised in the US.

  • The white guy at the end is an example of how the race of the father makes a big difference for the kids. If the father is black and raises his kids the kids will identify themselves as black no matter how white they might look. The same can be said about Asian fathers. Kids tend to identify with the race of their father if he's a constant presence in their lives.

  • You are not an expert, so I would suggest you be more humble and express your thought as an opinion. In nature, it's the female who raises the young and the male is never around. Humans are also animals.

  • I invite you to study the literature on IR marriages. What I wrote is a documented pattern. It's not just my opinion. But I stress the father must be a regular presence in the kids' lives.

  • @soulman386

Probably depends on the sex of the children too. Fathers have more influence on boys while mothers have more influence on girls, IMO.

  • @JeremyFuhenstasser i dont understand what ur saying. r u saying that the sex of the child will bond them more to the race of the parent who shares the same gender?

  • "In nature, it's the female who raises the young and the male is never around."

Wrong, generalization. There are some species of animal, which should be apparent are monogamous. That's kind of a slap in the face for men that sacrificed themselves for they're family.

  • @Tetzukai Females have more motherly instincts and are the ones that nurses the baby. It was never stated that's all men. That's a fact, not generalization. Also, gender doesn't matter much at all in this. They're daddy's girls, mommy's boys, mommy's girls... But yes, it's more common for people to look up to someone the same gender, including parents. back at what soulman said, i don't understand why kids would only identify with their father. Doesn't it depend on who the child flocks more to?

  • @yahyal0v It means nothing no more to us and it's becoming more relative because those instincts are becoming silly for years now and to think that it isn`t is absurd. That was the point. There are in fact bad mother's or less of a parent in comparison to the father generally speaking so I don't know why you don't understand that. That same idea can be said for mothers in particular.

  • Wrong. Generalization.

  • I'm American and I have a white family and a black family. What's the big deal? I have two best friends, one is black and one is white. What is the big deal? We are all multiracial. If you can trace your roots back to the 17-1800's in the USA you're probably multiracial. So, what is the big deal? It's not a phenomenon. People are just making it a phenomenon. It was a phenomenon probably... in the early

    1800's.

  • Exactly WhereYaBoss! Mixing between cultures, tribes, ethnicities and so-called "races" have been going on since before Ancient Egypt even. My whole family is very mixed. Some sides way more than others. Some look it. Others don't. It was never a big deal to me. Now I am studying my ancestry though and it is intriguing, I'll have to admit.

  • Thanks you for making this. I have always fought "the box" - that is, having to choose ONE box when that does not accurately describe my roots. I think it's important to know where you come from, but Iby being muti-racial I think it's far more important to know who you are now. Let's understand one another and MOVE FORWARD. We all want the same things. Peace

  • Commenting on what that gentleman at the end said, there are more and more applications that don't list "other", but rather "biracial" or even "multiracial", so soon that won't be an issue. But I agree with what he said about schools, my mother who is Hispanic, when she enrolled me into public school, checked me off as 'Latino/Hispanic'. I have sandy blonde hair, white skin, freckles & green eyes. The school went in and CHANGED it to say 'white' - three times! Before my mom threatened a lawsuit.

  • Hispanic is NOT a race. Hispanics can certainly check White. Heck, I'm from China and I heck WHITE, because my fave color is WHITE.

  • wow, that's ridiculous. thats the problem with this country, they fall back too much on the stereotypes. Hispanic people are also multiracial, and they come in different shapes and colors, such as yourself.

  • Great job. It would be nice to say color is just a color unforunately in all society it means something. Oftentimes it divides some into the haves and have nots. Not fair but a horrible fact. I wonder if we will ever go beyond color. I doubt it. As long as there are people there will be issues with color.

  • Multiracial people are the fastest growing demographic in America. There's no official and social recognition of this 'Other Race'. Let's explore the social and political impact of adding a Multiracial Category as a stand alone racial group...

  • My Dad is half American and Half Spanish and also My Mom is Half Filipino and Half Japanese. Im proud to be MULTIRACIAL!!! To all the people who discriminating us, i would like to say... INSECURITY KILLS!!!

  • Even you are pure or mixed you are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

  • @TheMrMixedbloods

I never thought of it that way, but that's true.

  • @TheMrMixedbloods Can we please assimilate this simple logic to the rest of the dumb humans?

  • @TheMrMixedbloods...American, Spanish, Filipino and Japanese ARE NOT RACES....they are nationalities!

  • @latinhooligan Watch out! Your heart! hahaha... :-)

  • @latinhooligan japanese filipino and spanish are ethnicities as well because they generally make up a majority in their country as a whole and belong to the old world while Americans are generally a nationality because they are a new nation made up of immigrants from the old as is latin america

  • @latinhooligan in europe generally being from a nation you have to be white and european born. all of the countries are very ethnic/race/national based spain may have tons of immigrants but in the eyes of the spaniards they are always immigrants from asia africa and latin america and the true spaniard is the original castillian, galego, andaluzian, catalan etc

  • @TheMrMixedbloods you're nothing, that's why multiracial have by far the highest suicide rate, addictions, ect. hwr i'm not upset cause insecurity, just because i dont want see my race destroyed in a worthess mixed-shit stuff
