At T-13 seconds, what the heck is that large purge of smoke coming off the launch tower (about level with the cockpit)? I have never seen that before. I also notice the remenants of that plume on the liftoff profile viem. Kinda strange.
P.S. Vivid launch view in SW Fl today. Also, by the time of booster seperation, low level smoke in the atmosphere made the lower vapor trail red, the mid portion was white, the upper portion was in the twilight and was blue. Very patriotic! Very spectacular!

Just so awesome. At only 9 minutes into its flight, the shuttle is travelling at nearly 8 km per SECOND! What a rush.
