His face, his face. And how, at the end of the song, he stood away from the microphone, almost expressionless. We know almost nothing of his private life, he was, publicly at least, an enigma. The emotions went into the song and then he was gone. Why don't these reality show people understand that it's the mystery that counts, not smearing yourself all over the airwaves.

This is my favorite song from them because it says something real, touches on real issues and shows best the talent they had as songwriters and as a band. Awesome! :) I saw them in Concert, Tonight (05/13/2011) at the Fox theater in Oakland, Ca. - the 4 origional guys were there, minus Benjimin Orr. They were Awesome! I was Right by the Stage, and Rick stood Directly in front of me. Awesome! they didn't do this song as I'd hoped, but the Concert was Still Awesome! :) this has always been my #1 Favorite song of theirs. :) Thanks for posting this. :)

@jstellingful Relax? There's someone talking of committing suicide on here. I came to listen to a beautiful song, not hear talk of suicide. If you had read my reply closely, you would have read that I said religion is how I handle MY low points. You won't find where I'm lecturing anybody, only a sympathetic heart. If you handle tough times with suicide, then go for it, but don't encourage anybody else! ! And your beliefs aren't private if you posted them on YT.

His face, his face. And how, at the end of the song, he stood away from the microphone, almost expressionless. We know almost nothing of his private life, he was, publicly at least, an enigma. The emotions went into the song and then he was gone. Why don't these reality show people understand that it's the mystery that counts, not smearing yourself all over the airwaves.

@jstellingful... well my friend, the reason most of the people we see on TV this days are not real stars!!! so that is why they have to very hard to be noticed.. unlike this guys here in this video and the rest of the bands and singers, actors from those years. they were born talented stars!! they had their own stile and had creativity and had to start from everything scratch. not like today's performers that they all sound the same because some producer is coaching then to make them famous.

@InfinityNebula I so agree with you. It is sad that he didn't get the credit he deserved, even though so many people loved his songs. One of my friends saw Ben singing Drive in the Live Aid Video and she thought he was lipsyncing.
Maybe all those who love his songs can share them with as many people as possible. I, for one, tell everyone I know about him. If those who created the records didn't give him the credit he deserved. Maybe we can!

Music is a changing landscape, a way of showing humankind history and culture over time. The Cars had a unique sound and style that attracted many fans. This is my favorite song from them because it says something real, touches on real issues and shows best the talent they had as songwriters and as a band. This song will have a very long lifespan since it asks one of life's always questions.

@medcasey Ben was born and raised in Cleveland's inner suburbs of Lakewood and Parma. Ocasik was born in Baltimore but spent his high school days in Cleveland. (Ocasek's father, a computer analyst for NASA, was transferred to Cleveland, Ohio when he was 16. He then attended Bowling Green State University south of Toledo. Ben and Rick met in Columbus, Ohio.) Just another reminder why Cleveland has the Rock Hall and Boston has beans.

Awesome! :) I saw them in Concert, Tonight (05/13/2011) at the Fox theater in Oakland, Ca. - the 4 origional guys were there, minus Benjimin Orr. They were Awesome! I was Right by the Stage, and Rick stood Directly in front of me. Awesome! they didn't do this song as I'd hoped, but the Concert was Still Awesome! :) this has always been my #1 Favorite song of theirs. :) Thanks for posting this. :)
