  • im going to murder all the likers

  • THANK YOUUUUUU

  • ;D thank you my professors ever only worked the simple problems and left us to toil with the difficult ones

  • ok and what happens if the x underneath the dividing line is also squared i have a problem like that and don't remember what to do

  • thanks Patrick :) i wish i found you earlier in the year

  • do you have one with the constant in the front of divisor?

  • that really helped! Thanks!

  • Thank you so much!!!

I am homeschooling and I do not have someone giving me instruction, this was extremely helpful!!!

  • wow that helped thank you

  • dude, thanks so much, taking a placement test for college tomorrow and i dont remember any of this stuff haha

  • Thank you so much! I'm in Calc II, yet I never did the long division of polynomials O.o Thank you!

  • @Jewelle17 easy stuff to forget even if you have done it! : )

  • You sir, are amazing.

  • @HeyItssCourtney thanks ; )

  • Thanks big dog, helped alot

  • Thanks a lot man, now I might just have a chance at calculus :P

  • OMG this is awesome! Thank you soo much!!!!!

  • thanks!

  • very well explained :D thank you!!!

  • haha..you have horrible drawing indeed, but who need art skill!

  • Thank you so much man you're a life saver!

  • finals tomorrow finally get it. THANKS SOOOO MUCH!

  • And you have just helped me not not fail my finals

  • If I become a math teacher I would make videos like these and tell all the kids to watch them in case they didn't learn it.

  • Congratulations on being a lefty!!

And THANKS SO MUCH!! YOU ARE BRILLIANT!!

I've tried to learn long division..and your video is the only thing that helped

  • YEAHHH LEFTIES

  • @lightscameractionx :D I'M A LEFTY TOO.

Thank you Patrick! :) Your replay-able tutorial assists me far more than textbooks and school teachers.

  • i wish you were my math teacher ;__;

i'm not trying to be creepy, but are you perhaps doing any online tutoring!?

  • Hi. In the third problem as he is writing the solution, he is saying "+16", however he only writes "+6".

  • MY TEST PAPER IS DOOM NOW HAHAHA!!

  • i love you

  • i like the video but i still hate math lol

  • Why don't teachers teach like this...?

  • just curious, what grade are you guys in? in in 7th adv math

  • @emILYpeaceperson447 9th grade Algebra 2.

  • OMG THANKS YOU SOOO MUCH !! :D i have a test tomorow and im probably gonna start laughing when my teacher walks past knowing i learnt long division from the internet even thought hes been going throught it for a week know >:DDDD

  • my teacher made this sound 10x more complicated... thank god for the internet XD

  • dang, thanks man, helped me so much!!!

  • i love you full 100% homo, you helped me pass my got dang cahsee test ,,!,, you california highschool exit exam...

  • thank you so muchhhh!!!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH PATRICK I LOVE YOU!!

  • I just learned long division and polynomial long division from you, thanks dude!

  • @Nopium17 you are very welcome : )

  • THANKS! :D

  • ...Amazing....I get it!!!!!

  • @simplychavonne perfect!! : )

  • Dude, thanks a bunch. Honors math was destroying me but your tutorials made me comprehend this faster.. Better than my teacher :D

  • Thank you very much, I'm struggling in this subject right now, and it really helps having someone that is able to teach this in 9 minutes unlike someone who has 50 minutes lol

  • Ohmydays, this was so useful! You've done in 10 minutes what none of my teachers could be bothered to do in the last year! I have a Core 3 test tomorrow, and I'm off to watch ALL of your videos now. Thank you so much!

  • awesome! thanks!

  • this would have been harder if you were a righty and why do you right the 2 as Z.

  • can i ask why you have the six on the top and not six x? im a little confused where that 6 came from

  • @dedly13 The 6 on the top comes from what you would multiply x by in order to to get 6x. Does that help? I can try explaining it another way if you want.

  • @yumetaki oh yes, i see it now, thanks so much

  • questionnn!!! what if you have x in front on the divisor such as (2x + 1) . . . what do i do?

  • helped big time. Thanks a lot. U'r a great teacher. : )

  • u are so awesome.. this was really helpful.. think u shud be teachin at my college

  • you are awesome. if i pass my final today, i owe you a cookie or something. =]

  • @nokaoiw00t cookies are good with me : )

  • @patrickJMT Do you have cookies enabled?

  • thanks

  • we did this in college today so thanks for the revision :)

  • You have such neat writing! :D

  • what about, if on the inside, you have x^3 + 6x + 5. and on the outside, you have x-4. when i do my first step, i put an x2 above for the answer part, and then i multiply it out. then i get x^3 - 4x^2. but the 4x^2 is under the 6x. and i cant add or subtract them, what do i do? fill in a 0x^2 before the 6x?

  • What confuses me is always having to change the signs. I never know why are when to change the signs.

  • @Allina277 look at where he did change the signs and say " leave, Change, opposite" to the 3 signs in order.

  • you know that your channel has become my bible right....ok good

  • You've made seemingly hard math look very simple, thank you:)

  • thanks soooooooo much..i love you!

  • man u never let me down

  • Thank you so much for this

  • Thank you sooo much... Today in school i had just learned this and for more clarification, but teacher did . But you helped me understand in less than 10 minutes. YOU ROCK DUDE, THANKS!!!

  • Thanks dude I understand now

  • THANK YOU! I understand now! I like your calm way of explaining!

  • going off on a tangent here lol but im kinda distraught that i have to go to youtube to learn this sh!t. not only does this mean im a slow learner but my teachers arent taught lol how to teach.

  • You taught me better than my A level teacher!! You Boss!!

  • @1Fazz1 wanker.

  • @SimplyReLeNtLeSsHD Fuck you i got a mock tomorrow i didn't know how to do that shit

  • @1Fazz1 ahahaha fucked it!

  • you have great hands :)

  • Patrick u r my hero

u saved my life in calculus

    Thanks bro

    :)

  • I go to hsand my algebra 2 teacher sucks I kinda feel bad for her she has a lot of pimples

  • wow, I was just about in tears because I felt so stupid that I didn't know how to do this. I was so lost! Thank you so much for posting this! You are better than my teacher in person! Thank you 100 x 100!

  • can someone please help me i have a tricky one

    2y4 + 11y2 + 15 divide by (y2 + 3)

  • thnkx alot

  • why it became x? i think it should be x2?

  • ahhh highschool years, loking math up on youtube at midnght b4 the test.

  • I hate MATH!

  • awesome this is a great tutorial. thanks!

  • I gotttt an 82 thx to you. : ). The first thing i thought when i got it back was thank you patrick. Then i thought about you the whole math class. Lol. No joke. I think im crushing on you.

  • Wow this was simply amazing, I have had two lessons on this at school and my teacher has taught me nothing. You managed to show me how to do it in less that 10 minutes! Amazing thanks so much for this dude! :D

  • @HenusM no problem : )

  • @HenusM

my gosh i cudnt agree with u more !!!

  • thanks ,but its not fair that ya send us to ya web site as a hoax

  • Why did you put 0x in the second problem you did :/? IM LOST.

  • @chinkYnene read the comments

  • @chinkYnene Because you have to have it going down like X^5 X^4 X^3 X^2 X^1 if your missing one you fill it in with zero.

  • y do u put in the (0x) and (0x2) is that a precaution for more complicated sums?

  • 1:43 lol you were gonna write and say 0 xD

  • whoa whoa! isnt 4 - 2 2??? it cant be 6?? can u please explain why you got that??

  • @msbeca31 4 - (-2) aka 4 + 2 is 6.

  • dude you ahould totally be our teacher (:

    thanks a lot!

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUU for saving my life :) can I make clones of you and make you my math teacher for every math subject for the rest of my life?

  • @OfficialAla no, you do not have to substitute them in. it is merely a ' bookkeeping trick ' to help keep things lined up, nothing more.

  • @patrickJMT I think you meant to say that to chinkYnene, above that comment

  • @coolman6566 yes, you are right. too late now : )

  • Thank you for teaching us for free! :) not like others..

  • this was very helpful because i was gone the day we learned this in school

  • Amazing!! Thank you!

  • God, it's so strange watching someone write left-handed

  • I love you <3

  • Thanks for refreshing my memory!

  • You are a life saver! I was feeling sooo stressed, (I'm in precalc and in the 10th grade of highschool) you helped me soo much!

  • thank you!

  • I'm in multi-variable calculus right now and I can't tell you how many times I've watched videos like this one for long division because we use it so seldom. youtube is a lifesaver for review!

  • OMG THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

my math book and teacher were so confusing on this

  • people who are good at mathare all left handed = smart ppl

  • Comment removed

  • @Jevon1003 I'm left handed but unfortunately, math is not my favorite subject.

  • Ahhh...'tis good to see a fellow lefty doing this teaching. Now I've seen 2 of us doing fairly advanced math. Huzzah!

  • thank you thank you thank you!

  • what if the highest degree of the numerator has a higher coefficient than the highest degrees' coefficient of the denominator?...please help fast, i hav a test on slant asymptotes in 2 days lol

  • @TREYARCHsucksDICK you do the same thing. why does it matter?

  • @patrickJMT i didnt know you could just use a fraction...i was always told you hav 2 make sure it can fit...but i get it now! thank you, and great video...im gonna ace this test:) lol

  • Is that Minecraft I hear in the background @2:17

  • @HydroBullet i dont think so.

  • @HydroBullet

That sounds ALOT like a door opening lmao

  • Thanks alot dude. :D

  • Thank you so much

  • for the first example, couldn't you divide 4 by -2 in the final result?

  • Thanks helped immensely when I was stuck didn't realize you had to substitute in 0 for the denominator as well for missing terms

  • @doreilly15 well, you do not have to do that, but it makes everything line up and keeps it all much more organized. a lot of algebra is simply about being neat and organized. i used to be super sloppy; when i took a little extra time to keep it neat and tidy, my grades went up.

  • @patrickJMT so wait, you don't need to substitute the 0 for the missing terms!? because i did the problem before you started and came up with the same solution without the 0's! :) they're not necessary right? can i continue doing that?

  • THANK YOU!! my teacher failed to mention the part at 5:35 talk about desk palming

  • Lefty!

  • I dont understand what you would do if there is an number in fron of the X. for example 3X^2+7X?

    Thank you So much!

  • you saved my life.

  • your videos have been helping me stay ahead of the torrent of failure that comes with Calculus 2...thanks!

  • I love you

  • I want to bear your babies, thank you <3

  • @ImpulseFire911 no babies for me, thanks though

  • Incredibly helpful! I am so thankful you do these videos, you're helping me pass college.

  • the stickman is sad b/c his arm is falling off :/

  • thanks this helped with my FP1 hugely

  • and you've got one more subscriber, compared to my current teacher your the Feynman of making pre/calculus simple in its complexity.

  • @skydome29 ha, i will accept that compliment : )

  • Im in college and my teacher is some asian lady who i cant even understand you should teach at a University.

  • @Superilegit no thanks

  • This helped me sooooooooooooooo much :)

  • You forget 16 dude ;D

  • nvm i see what i did wrong i multiplied the 2 by 2 and not 6

  • for the synthetic division method of f(-2)=x^2+4x-8, i get x^2+6-4/x-2 not x^2+6+4/x-2

    whatd i do wrong

  • :D cool

  • thank you so much! I seriously would have failed math without you!

  • Awesome, much appreciated. I've relearned how to do this 5 or 6 times, I always end up forgetting :S

  • your videos are so cool.... nice, big helps ♥

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE XD X

  • the 2nd example was a very good one! i like how you left out the x2 so that we needed to think and relize we had to fill it in with 0x2

  • fantasic video!

  • Hi, thank you for these videos I am a 40 year old woman trying to make it through college and math is my downfall! With your videos I see a light at the end of the tunnel THANK YOU

  • LOL, tell me why you taught me this better than my teacher did. Haha, MuchLove man, thank you.

  • i really struggled on this at school thanks mate

  • Thanks your teaching is really great! I passed the test!!

  • Thanks for the A+!

  • you make way more sense than my teacher. thank you so much!

  • im so glad i found this video. you have no idea how much this has helped me. thank you :)

  • You made it so easy for me to understand. Thanks a lot!

  • Thank youPatrick, you made it very clear for me !

  • You're the BEST!

  • thx man i didnt even know about tht it is always supposed to be in descending order n other stuff, my teacher explains 2 fast.

  • Ok so my math professor is a lefty too but he just blocks all of the things he writes so I can never tell what he is talking about. But thank you so much!! I shall now get a better grade on my math quiz today! :)

  • You made this stuff easy for me!! Good work!! Thanks so much, my pre-calc teacher is def not the best.

  • This helped so much. Thanks!

  • Thanks allot Patrick, this will become extremely handy.

  • He really breaks it down and makes it easy to understand!

  • So neat ! Thank you : ) hopefully i do well tomorrow.

  • If we ever get to the point of cloning people, you're first. And we're replacing all math teachers/professors with YOU.

Seriously, thank you so much for existing and putting these videos on youtube.

  • Very awesome video. I was wondering about alot of this belive it or not. I was wondering what would happen if you had a higher term and the lower term to be divided. So if it ever starts out divide X squared by X cubed. I know what to do. Thank you very much.

  • who are the dumb people disliking this video (professors)

  • @Kris22571 can't please everyone all of the time

  • i do my long division different so this is harder to learn

  • Thank you so much, :') this helped me a lot more than my collage teacher :P

  • the 26 dislikes? college calc pro
