arent the colored pellets bad because of dyes? i dont feed my parrots those because the dyes are harmful... you kniw by the vivid colors... if the colors were more dull then it would be fine but what do i know lol
@birdlover121314 Kind of a pick your own battle situation. There's the argument about the brightness of dyes, but there are pellets with duller concentrations which contain preservatives that have been banned in the dog and cat food industry, which I'm more worried about. I buy both the colored and plain pellets and mix it about 60/40 to 30/70 (colored being the smaller quantity) to provide variation cause the plain pellets are THAT bland (yes, I tried one) & top w/fruit & nuts. Hope that helps.
@Amandah86 Are you asking if they're full of sugar or stating? If so, a full cup of Cheerios runs at 1g of sugar and 21g carbs. Compare to a full slice of whole grain bread at 2g sugar 11g carbs. The amount of Cheerios he gets is *maybe* half a tablespoon's worth as it's part of a mix. He gets one heaping tablespoon of the mix which includes a lot of fruit and nuts. If the concern is over sugar, the dried fruit probably has about 4 times or more the amount of sugar, judging by taste alone.
@bigoaf33 You can totally make your own dried fruits and veggies! :) Not sure if things like banana chips would come out the same. I have a feeling those a fried to get the sort of crispness that they have. :/ Everything else should come out about the same, though. Let me know how it goes! ^.^
@MsHorselover8 The veggie pellets are about the same price and with the combo of both, $30 for 4 months, ain't too shabby! You probably couldn't feed a dog for that price! XD
