They can certainly obtain a grant. Look at Richard Lindzen's "Some Coolness Concerning Global Warming" paper. The research was funded from a grant from the Nat'l Science Foundation & Nasa. Moreover, you can reach high level science positions while being a skeptic, such as Michael Griffin or Philip Cooney chief of staff of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (who edited global warming reports).
It's certainly not the norm and you have to pay your dues before you dare go against the grain. I'm referring to the "vast number" of scientists who supposedly have concluded that AGW has been settled. Scientific truth is not a matter of consensus. Read what Einstein had to say about this.

I just found out that Al Gore does not have solar panals for Elec or Gas on his property , and if he does now that was only after it came out that he spends thousands on utilities a year. For the first time in recorded history 2 catagory 5 hurricanes have hit land fall in the same season. Also for the first time 2 hurricanes hitting the same continent on the same day. Massive wild fires in Greece. Droughts are effected many states while there is massive flooding in others. Open up your eyes and ears and tune in to reality. It is happening all around you now. If you don't become part of the solution, with global warming, you are very much a part of the problem.

The opposite is true. The IPCC recently increased their certainty to >90% that man is causing global warming. Also, look at former skeptics like Dr. Christy, who used to believe the earth wasn't warming period. Now he says that man is certainly causing global warming. The NAS's of the G8, China, & India, the NRC, IPCC, AMS, AGU, etc. have all concluded that man is causing global warming. Moreover, I'd say about 90% of skeptics are funded by oil companies

As are the skeptics who actually to research. Richard Lindzen, when he does studies, is funded by NASA, the National Science Foundation, and other such gov't institutions.
Moreover, it's not the government's fault that the studies come up reflecting the truth. They fund the project if it sounds worthwhile, not knowing the outcome.

Can you give an example (other than speculation) of where it's affected the outcome of a report that otherwise would have had different results? Moreover, can you even site one scientific report (that's less than 10 years old and still holds up) that shows humans aren't the cause of global warming. The government as been passive on this issue and has edited scientific reports to make them less alarming. WHY would they do that if they just "made up" global warming as some nefarious scheme?

They can certainly obtain a grant. Look at Richard Lindzen's "Some Coolness Concerning Global Warming" paper. The research was funded from a grant from the Nat'l Science Foundation & Nasa. Moreover, you can reach high level science positions while being a skeptic, such as Michael Griffin or Philip Cooney chief of staff of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (who edited global warming reports).

I just found out that Al Gore does not have solar panals for Elec or Gas on his property , and if he does now that was only after it came out that he spends thousands on utilities a year. I feel so betrayed. Solar panals are reasonably priced and look good and are good for the environment. This important issue needs a new spokesman. One who practices what they preach.

As a person who does his part to reduce his CO2 emissions, I find it extremely frustrating that many people don't want to be bothered with global warming. This is real. We need to make a change, or it will cost us dearly in lives and in dollars. This is also a problem that needs to be addressed globally and locally. Why can't more people get on this now?
I'll gladly pay, so my children can enjoy the earth that I grew up with. To do any less would be selfish.

My grandfather drank himself to death and left my dad's family dirt poor on an OK farm (dad was 12). My dad picked cotton and joined the military ASAP. He knows (and teaches) that you get what you earn. So I have a real basic view on things. I was the first person in my entire family lineage to get a college degree (two of them - thanks dad).
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't beleive a person deserves entitlements just because they exist in America.

Look, I like puppies too, but adults have to take personal responsibility. When I saw hurricane Andrew coming I stockpiled, cleaned the yard secured the windows and doors and got my ass kicked. But I paid for insurance to get me back on my feet. It took about 6 months (and moving) before it was all behind me.
If you live in a wooden shack in a bowl 20' feet below sea level and a hurricane is coming you get the hell out! TBC...
