Second, and I hate to say this, he's right. What used to be the Jeep's only advantage, its short wheelbase, has ceased to exist. They're still on live axle suspensions, and their engines are horribly underpowered now. And the wheelbase is too damn long now. May as well go for the Xterra at this point. At least it's reliable. Unlike newly-Italian-owned Chrysler. (Check it, Fiat bought it in 2009)

Wish my landing was like that... back in summer 09 I jumped my jeep at pismo as well by highway 16.. the front end slammed hard, bent the front axle just a tad and broke a motor mount... had to remove fan housing to get her running(unfortunately the mechanics told me that my engine was blown and insurance totaled ot =[ ). drove out of the dunes even passing by some other trucks there on some dunes haha only in a jeep right?

@gothen1234 buy wheel bearings for a 5th wheel for them mine had some and they are just terrible they have went bad and then resulted in the wheel falling off and such 3 times in less then a year so ive bought some AMERICAN made ones and know i know they will work as the should for a lot longer then a year

@pending27 check your facts i could probably count on my hand the number of parts that were actually built in america on that jeep. They might be assembled in america, the parts are not. Most new jeeps are shitty any way, the last good quality jeep was 2001. Since then there quality has gone down hill. As a jeep owner my self I am not happy with the latest products mostly since they started using an engine from there vans that were never designed for off road conditions they lost there quality.

@MBROCKL why would u spend 40,000 on a jeep when u could source and find a second hand 4.2 litre TD 100 series toyota or Nissan 4.2 litreTD GU for 30,000 (factory) the best motors u can get, I lean towards nissan there gearbozes are stronger then toyota.. they do over 1 million kilometres or more with normal scheduled servicing and not to mention shit on any jeep on the market to this day. they hold there value & thats for a reason.
