i hate when people wished they were born back in the day, it like shit man the muisc never died, live your life to its fullest here and now, thats what these great artist would have wanted you to do anyway..
This song is great, incredible guitar. I really hope that inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again. I think that what is missing is a real, powerful inspiration in the air that sparks creativity. Our world is so divided and destructive that we can't connect with that inspiration. We need to become aware of the unifying truth of life. Search for "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present. What it says will put that inspiration in the air again.
The line should be "none of them along the line know what any of it's worth". Jimi got some of the lyrics wrong on Electric Ladyland version. Listen to Dylan's original for the actual lyrics, although Bob himself said Jimi's version was the best.
Who else is wondering why a dislike button even exists for Jimi Hendrix? Something is very wrong here with those ppl who even thought about pressing it... Let alone the 67 who pressed it. Only explanation is they were in such a hurry to like it & accidently hit dislike? Right? Yeah, that's what happened...
The music from that era was cutting edge but living in that era was not all fun and games. I was one of the lucky ones who was drafted into the Vietnam war and made it home alive, with only some mild hearing damage......60,000-70,000 weren't so lucky.
@1960toid I wish more people would consider what you say more before they say the usual "I was born in the wrong time ...etc" in their comments. Yes the music in 60s 70s era was uber and all. But I think that living at in those years was not all fun and dandy. Also anyone living now has the chance to compare between two eras of music and IMO can even appreciate the older music even more than the people who experienced them first hand.
I am now fully convinced I was born in the wrong era of music, wish I was born back in jimi's time that would've been the best listening to him live and all other greats
How could anyone not love a video of Jimi singing this classic. The lyrics printed are a bit of a joke, "This is not our FATE" is one, but there are more. If you need the words, Bob Dylan wrote them and they are easily found in print.
replying to the other comment...I don't think Jesus was a musician...Jesus is dead...Jimi was probably 10,000 times the man that Jesus was (despite any miracles)...I'm a musician myself who's tried my best, but I don't know how I was even born in the same galaxy as Jimi...
sorry for my comment, about Jimi as a black jesus (I deserve to be horsewhipped!!)...I should think about what I am saying...obviously Jesus sucks and failed at acheiving anything good, it seems no one did more harm in the world ever than Jesus, JESUS IS JUST A LOUSY FUCK! sorry!!
Music is a religious experience, and religion shall not be confined to the concepts of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or what have you, because the soul expands beyond concepts. Music is the language of our soul, which is why it's important that you listen, because the deeper you listen, the more you learn about why we exist.
Jimi Hendrix was the crossover musician. Us honkies did not care that he was black. He could make that guitar sing.and this was the "physhedelic" age. This was during the racial tension height and after the riots in my hometown Detroit. Nobody has since played the guitar like him..Nobody.
Jimi is amazing. No one comes even close to his power. He played both lead & rythm like it was nothing. Not even Eric Clapton compares to this legacy, and EC has even admitted himself he will never be like Hendrix. All the good die young...RIP Hendrix. He is a solid gold legend. There will never be another. Crafted from the hands of God himself... Jimi never actually died. His body may be at eternal rest, but his soul still lives on, just like his music. Long live Hendrix, the God of all gods.
For goodness sake everybody arguing, listen to the song! Jimi was about love, not hate. This remarkable and gifted artist is performing for you. Take note, feel the vibe, and awaken your soul.
theres a dislike bar because too many people can't shut the fuck up about why people dislike stuff when in reality its to feed the idiots who make up reasons why people like stuff.
@playadominical I don't think you're wrong; however, some people have a terrible taste in music and believe The Backdoor Boys or NStink are the last century's answer to Mozart. On the other hand, some people may think Jim Morrison, The Beatles, Elvis, Woodie Guthrie, Zeppelin, etc etc could also be the last century's answer to Mozart. Personally, I think the music released between 1955-85 was the last century's answer because there was so much great stuff released in that era.
i think what troubled jimi (deep inside, as a performing artist...to level only very few conceive) is that his high watermark was set at monterey, and knew he'd never quite hit it again. the set he did there was nothing less than a barrier-smashing excursion into the hyperdimensional vortex of this age kali yuga. nothing before or since even approached it.
i heard a few tracks from ablbert hall, and i distinctly remember "getting my heart back," and i agree it sounded fantastic. i have album from winterland and didnt think it outdid monterey. i guess what impressed me the most about monterey was the intensity of his sound *combined* with his shamanistic visual performance. this is what i should have mentioned in my earlier post.
i wouldn't say it's all of our Modern music which has lost all emotion, feeling and musical touch. I'd say it's the chart music of our century, which people who are satisfied by the same beat and a heavily repeated chorous love. I was lucky enough to see him as an 18 year old about 67 in Cambridge England he had a couple of hit singles, Purple Haze was in the charts I think. thought he was probabaly worth a few bob to see. It was a fairly small hall called The Dorothy I think people moved about freely, and I got a position about where the cam is under him at the stage in this clip. He dropped a few plecs, and I picked one up. Used it a while, but it was too thick for me.. Then I lost it..

We're an independent label trying to make it in this game and the best way to do that is by being more known on youtube. One of the ways we stand out is we help unsigned artists get more fans by uploading their songs for a new fan base
You can change our future with one simple click.
Please thumbs up so other people can see this and check out our channel and comment with feedback if you like, also if you think we could improve.
If you like check the other artists we have over 80 vids up!
Hendrix was a force of nature. He was ambidextrous. Although he played his right-handed guitar upside down, and used his left hand to throw, comb his hair and hold cigarettes, Hendrix wrote, ate and held the telephone with his right hand. He was mixed-right-handed". All this enabled him to integrate the actions of his left and right hands while playing guitar, to integrate the lyrics and melodies of his songs, . His technical virtuosity is very clear. .
Honestly, what the fuck are you doing telling us to get off the internet? Do you seriously think that you're more active than any of us because you made a shitty comment on how a guitar legend didn't have the internet? I really do hate it when assholes like you ruin my YouTube experience by putting a Troll's comment into good videos! Jimi didn't need the internet, he was fucking FAMOUS!
I've been to Jimi's grave and I felt like I was going to have a overload of brilliance can only imagine how it must of felt to see him or hang out with him in person.. Honestly if I would have must say I'd never have a regret the rest of my life lol.
If Clapton is god then Jimi is his maker.

Cheers!
