Setting up the JVC GY DV500 video camera

The camera was great for it's time.

Today even the most basic consumer HD camera

outperforms it and for a fraction of that the DV500

did cost when it was new.

But it was a workhorse of it's time.

@JillmanVideo : You just can't compare consumer camera's with a professional camera.

Sure, HD will outperform SD in image crisp- and clearness, but then there is the aspect of accesories for camera's.

You just can't stick a video-transmitter on consumer camera's because they lack the right outputs and fittings.

Then there is balance, I really enjoy working with shoulder-mounted camera's because you are SO much more rigid with them.

Have the JVC GY-DV5000 myself, only downside: no real 16:9.

I borrowed the cam and I cant find the 16:9 switch (its 4:3 now). Maybe someone could send me a message!

It only records in 4:3, so you have to convert it to 16:9 on your PC.
